I keep getting dead air messages left on my answering machine...they won't stop calling >:|

Never leaves a message.

called asking for someone and before I could offer to take a message they said they would call back later; never stating who they were or why they were calling.

Someone else in the house picked up the phone, and after asking several times "Hello?", the caller finally asked for my name. I was in the house at the time so the person that picked up the phone asked for the name of the caller. The response was laughter and a hang-up.

I answered and they asked for my stepmom and i told them she wasnt home and he hung up.

Your input relieved a lot of stress. Same as others. No message left. Dead air when pick up. Rather freaky. Thanks for giving that input.

Quit calling for money. None to spare.  On a no call list.

Same deal here. I don't think that the "do not call" list takes care of these charity calls.

Same deal here, and, yes, very annoying. Been going on for at least a couple of weeks now, and dead air when the answering machine picks it up. Relieved to learn it is just a telemarketer, but, how about the do-not-call list, doesn't it cover these calls?

It's the number for AMVETS american veterans.  They are probably looking for charity money.  They probably need it if their automated dialer keeps hanging up on my answering machine.  My guess is they could at least but a better computer.

got the same thing when my answering machine picked it up.. always get dead air space when these numbers call and there have been 2 or 3 different #s that come in as Local Call... annoying!

Twice in two days. Hung up when my answering machine picked up. Got about 30 seconds of dead air each time.
