I looked up the name Cardholder Services in Wisconsin and found a report posted yesterday by the BBB indicating a flood of complaints.

February 15, 2012, Milwaukee, Wis. ? The Wisconsin Better Business Bureau (BBB) has been receiving calls and letters from consumers across the country regarding repeated, unsolicited ?robo calls? to both their home and cell phones.

The calls are recorded messages offering to lower credit card interest rates. Consumers report that the message requests, ?press 1 to speak with a representative.? However, when they do so, the caller hangs up on them.

In the last two weeks, the BBB has received 21 written letters and dozens of phone calls from consumers complaining of these calls, which they say are annoying, continual and harassing. In fact, several complainants state they do not even own a credit card, yet they are receiving these calls.

Some of the calls appear to be coming from ?Card Holder Services? though there is no such company in Wisconsin at the phone number that the calls are allegedly coming from.

In addition, one of the reported phone numbers that the calls appear to be coming from, was a former Fond Du Lac cell phone number that belonged to a family seven years ago, and is no longer current. As a result, the family is now receiving harassing phone calls from angry consumers. They told the BBB via letter that they ?are not the responsible party for the harassing phone calls.? In fact, they are working with the state, local law enforcement, and the FCC in an attempt to get to the bottom of this situation.

Likely, the perpetrator behind the calls is using a call ?spoofing? mechanism. Spoofing is the practice of causing a telephone device to display a number on the recipient?s caller I.D. that is not the actual originating phone number. It is accomplished by using a spoofing device or software mechanism.

If you receive such a phone call, the BBB recommends that you report the call to the Federal Trade Commission: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/. Also, check with your cell phone provider. Many providers allow phone numbers to be blocked from calling you, at no additional charge.

The BBB reminds consumers not to give out any personal or financial information over the phone to any unknown caller.

I am so sick of the calls!! I want to be taken OFF their list. I'he tried to tell them, but they hang up on me before I get three words out!

I'm fed up with getting calls from these people on both my cell and home phones which are on do not call registers. Where do people get our phone numbers even when we are on the do not call listing! I don't answer if I don't recognize a number.

These people must be stopped!

well, they have run my cell minutes out twice by leaving blank voice mail. the only way you know is to check voice mail but our home phone is long distance so checking with that still cost us. we get burnt either way.

I'm sick and tired of getting these calls for months now. I want to ask to be taken off their call list because I'm on the do not call registry and we don't have any credit cards and before I can get the word DON'T out of my mouth the hang up on me. I think I will buy a blow horn so they will get a special surprise back from me. I'm sure they are scamers

I want this number to stop calling my cell phone.  I have tried to give them my phone number to get off the list but they always hang up on  me.  I am very fed up with them.

Illegal phishing scam call to cell on National Do Not call Registry.  Rude hump hang up on me when I asked to be removed from their call list.

Get calls at least twice a month on both cell phones.  Finally blocked the number, but that has to be renewed every 90 days.  Whose going to remember to do that?  We are also listed on the do not call list.  What else can be done?

They call me several times a day, but since I do not recognize the number, I do not answer.  They'll get tired of calling me soon enough.  Funny thing......I do not have any credit cards!!

I keep getting calls from them. But since I don't recognize the number I haven't answered them. Thank goodness, I can block calls on my cell phone. What a nuisence. Wish there was a way to report them.

I got badgered from "Thomas" when I told him to quit calling my phone. He claimed that he got my number from the BBB and that he made 3x more money than I did.

It is another scam from Card Holder Services who have called from numerous numbers trying to steal your credit card numbers. Dont answer these calls! We will catch them soon!
