Number showed up on my prepaid cell phone which no one but our friends and daughter have. If I donot know who it is, it will not get answered especially if it is on MY DIME with very limited minutes. If it is Americollect, they then have several other numbers and I do not owe anyone anything unless they are collecting property taxes..

Debt Collector
Left a voicemail. Actually Identified herself as Amber, and did state she was from Americollect, and that the call was in an effort to collect a debt. Since, as far as I know, I have no outstanding debts, I'm not returning the call, but it was actually nice that an unknown number actually left a clear message with their intent stated in the message.

I set up a payment plan and made the payments every month for years. Every month they call me to ask for more. What they do is wait for you to not return a call two months in a row then they take you to court and tack on hundreds. Like a buzzard circling a carcas. So if you have a payment plan make shure you return every call.

New one from 1-920-686-8891 I found an Unauthorized Withdrawl from My Bank account authorized by AmeriCollect.  I have never been contacted by AmericCollect and had to research to find out who made this Unauthorized Withdrawl from my bank account.  After refusing to talk to me they called me back from that number and AmeriCollect assured me that this was an everyday error that they make and it won't hurt my credit history.  Appears AmeriCollect is making withdrawls from wrong bank accounts everyday.  Only time will tell how much damage they are causing all over the country.

WOW! you idiots actually believe collection agencies buy information... some may however those are the idiot attorneys that act as debt collectors and purchase debt, such as old chase credit cards, this is such a waste of time, because you obviously owe something, pay it! and by the way people its not illegal if they call you back when you tell them not to, it has to be in writing for any further attempts to collect a debt, you all really know the laws right! so you call collectors stupid, but then maybe you should read up on the laws, you know the things these collectors work by...

Yeah, I love these people, they leave messages like they're your buddies you jus saw over the weekend.  Do they actually train people to call like that?  Jeez...ours was a medical bill we have been in dispute with our insurance company for like a year...."kenny" would like me to give him "a jingle sometime"....what, did the dollar store run out of applications?  Where do they find these people?  Gave me a 1-800 number to call...

I got a call from this number on my cell phone today, the same generic "I have a message for you" technique I see others have experienced. What I did was e-mail them at collector@americollect.com, making it clear that I didn't owe anyone money. I promptly got a message back that someone must have misdialed.

I'd recommend the e-mail approach, as it keeps all correspondence on the record, especially if you actually don't owe money.

Yep, I get 'em too. I think more than likely it's either a collection agency working for T-Mobile wirelss or Time Warner cable. Maybe I still have a balance from when I lived in Wisconsin. Oh well, one day they'll get their money...

Wrong.  Pay your bill, they sell your name etc to another collection agency, before they charge it off on your credit report, they get their money both ways, and after all the smoke clears, you got to pay all over again. I know, been to court for 3 years on bills I paid 7 years ago.  Apparently the banks sell info to collection agencies, they claim you own them money, ask them for signatures and reciepts with signatures, you wont get them.  Identity theft my friends, I had to file a bankruptcy to get rid of all of them.  Then the bankruptcy federal court makes you pay a portion of all of the credit agencies that started the whole mess.  It's a big mess out there.  Always send them a certified letter requesting copies of contracts and reciepts, they dont have them, so they close thier account on you and sell it to another agency, and the your credit report gets worse.

Nice sounding girl called left this number to call her back.  920-686-8891
Do not know anyone at that number.  If you have a Chase credit card or a chase bank account, they had a lot of bank customers who's identity was stolen from their computers.  I know, I am currently trying to clean up the identity theft mess because of Chase, right now.  Be careful, chase is taking money from your credit cards and  putting it in your bank accounts without your authorization.  Beware Collection agencies buy the information from Chase, and then make you pay for stuff you never owned.

FYI If you tell any bill collector to not call you again document the Name of the person you informed and date and time by LAW they are not allowed to contact you again.  This is a federal law and you have grounds for a suit if the company calls again keep your documentation tho if you decide to press charges...

Number showed up on my Caller ID with "Unavailable Number"(synonym for someone you do not want to talk to). Computer indicated call came in on a secondary Ringmaster line for modem use. Not my listed primary line or ever given out. They are looking for someone other than me. Must not be very good sleuths. Wish I knew how to get a phone number that did not have a dark history of association with undesirable callers. About 25% of calls to my house are from people and places I do not know, or want to know. These collectors have a great time with aggravating their debtors as well as the same number of uninvolved people, some who may be seriously ill and should not be disturbed unnecessarily. Maybe these collectors should be forced to a more legal approach or at least to USPS contact only.

OK once again another "friend like" call. I saw the # 920-686-8891 on my phone, having some friends in the 920 area code, i called back. The lady said she wanted to talk to (my first name). ( Then my first and last name) I knew right then that it was probly a collector or someone i didnt want to talk to. I said may I take a message? She said oh just have her call (her name) back @ this number, I just have a couple questions for her.
Why do these people think they can call and trick people into believing that its a personal call. I guess its a 'good tactic' in the collections business, but can someone tell me the statistics of how many transactions are actually successful as a result of tricking people into talking to them?  ANYONE???????? I would think it would upset people more beig decieved.

This crap has to be illegal. This idiot left a message like he's a "friend" of ours and wanted us to call him back. Never represented himself belonging to a company and sounded sleezy as hell (almost stalker-like). Said his name was "Ben". We are under bankruptcy protection from these types of calls, I'm calling "Ben" tomarrow and telling this farktard where to shove his damn phone. IDIOT.

They call me at work - all the time.  They have my personal phone number, yet they have only used it once.  I answered and told them to send me a statement of what they claim I owe and they told me they couldn't do that.  Now they just call my work number.  I think they are trying to get me in trouble with my boss as I am not supposed to have personal calls.
