I called Comcast to make sure this was not one of those scam numbers that you get charged for calling since I called them back when they did not answer. (After they called every 10 minutes for almost an hour.) She told me that this number is a political organization for our congressmen to support immigration reform. They must be having technical difficulties or something. Anyhow, I blocked them using the *60 command so they don't keep bugging us.
none 2011-06-06 21:07:24 Unknown
I also received a call from this number today 3 times within an hour. My caller ID said California and when I finally answered it they had our name and said they were calling about the immigration reform. Told them to take us off their call list and they just hung up on me.

I just received a call from them as well. No message was left. It is a landline from Pleasanton, CA. Apparently the National Do Not Call list doesn't mean anything.
Judy 2011-06-06 21:07:24 Unknown
They call me every day, several times a day. I am unavailable when they call. My caller ID says California, they never leave a message. Who are these people?
Gabe 2011-06-06 21:07:24 Unknown
received the call @ 12:34p (EST) & 12:46p, no ID, no sound.
Zach 2011-06-06 21:07:24 Unknown
They keep calling and calling and calling and calling...
I've been ignoring them in hopes they would just go away, but I guess I'll answer next time so that I can be hung up on.
MaryAnn 2011-06-06 21:07:24 Unknown
Received about 6 calls from this number. When I answer no one is there, when I call back it asked me for a code.

I had also recieved a call and answered they told me they wanted to forward me to talk to a government represenative. It was reguarding a bill about citizenship. the man had an accent. I was almost going to do it and then remembered hearing about where they transfer you to numbers that cost a ton per minute.

I called my representative office (Mel Watt, North Carolina) and they said that if you've volunteered at a campaign you might've been put in a phone bank ... I volunteered so I guess maybe that's how they got my number... and you don't hear anything because what they do is call you and transfer you to your local representative's office. She said that they've been getting them too because they'll try to transfer people to the actual office and there's really nothing you can do unless you block them from calling you like someone above said. SHe said when the immigration reform dies down the calls will die down but that unfortunately there's nothing one can do. I hope this helps and I will keep checking back to see if somebody finds out something that will keep these calls from coming to our phones. The DNC list only works for land lines I was told... but if your number is on a phone back because you've put it somewhere (i.e. the volunteering) not even the DNC list is going to help.

Just got a call from this number. It was a lady saying she wanted to transfer me to Kay Hagan's office(NC representitive) to leave a voicemail showing my support for immagration reform bill. After informing the lady I didn't agree with it but still wanted to leave a message she refused to transfer me, saying if I didn't agree with it no one wanted to hear my opinion.

We see from past notations here that this phone number does not belong to the group that is calling, but has been hijacked to disguise their own number. It appears from all the notes here that it probably is an offshore telemarketing group which isn't very efficient.
After looking at the website Reformingimmigrationforamerica dot org
I would say that this is probably a legitimate nonprofit in favor of immigration reform. (I have not read the entire site to determine what reforms this particular group is looking for). Unfortunately they are using a very poor telemarketing group to contact people. Their intent is obviously to connect the people they call (who agree with their view) to their congress people. However, they are illegally using another business? phone number for their caller I.D., which does not lend credibility to their cause.
The site directs reporters who want more information on Reform Immigration For America to contact:
Shuya Ohno, Deputy Communications Director
National Immigration Forum
(202) 383-5983
sohno@immigrationforum.org
The site also has a list of organizations which have supported them in some way. They are legitimate organizations (though I haven?t checked to see if they have actually supported this group.)
The site brings me to another website Democracyinaction dot org for donations. Their address is:
Campaign to Reform Immigration for America
c/o National Immigration Forum Action Fund
50 F Street NW, Ste 300
Washington, DC 20001
For those who are ambitious, I?d suggest you contact one of the above, or one of the organizations listed on the site to complain about their extremely bad telemarketing service. There are better ones out there?.unfortunately they also cost more.

I answered my cell phone. Person with a foreign accent stated they are calling all people in MN and are trying to keep the legacy of Sen Ted Kennedy alive by getting people to help push through immigration reform. I interrupted his spiel and told him I'm not interested in this and to not call me again. Then I hung up.
