The telemarketer u hate 2013-07-12 16:49:52 Telemarketer
I used to work for this company...college collect. Well im a telemarketer for them. They operate here in the states, but they get their telemarketers in the philippines, india or pakistan. Its a home based job that pays $5 everytime we get your mailing adress from you. If we get more than 20 approved callers, then bonus is set. Its also an automated dialing system called five9. We see your name and phone number on the screen, then the stuff we fill put of ur infos. There is a button do not call list, but we were instructed to NEVER use that button or else we will be fired. So when u request to be put on the do not call list, nothing happens. We just hang up and go ahead to the next caller.

The trouble with using the Selective Call Blocking list (now called Call Screening by Comcast/Xfinity) is that you only get 12 slots for numbers. I filled mine up almost two years ago. I'm currently in the process of looking up each of those numbers here and if there hasn't been a post for a year or more, I'm removing them. Turns out, MOST of them are getting deleted, so I'll have enough spaces for my current list of annoying callers. I've gone to Comcast's Community Help boards and posted a suggestion that they put up a blog like this one, except keep it just for their logged-in account holders. Pick a number like 5 and whenever that number of people has posted about the same number with the same complaint, take that as proof they are a scammer and put them on Comcast's master block list. Whatever they call it, it's a list of numbers phone companies block so that they can't even ring through to their customers. I made the alternate suggestion that they give us MORE SLOTS! :)

Thank you for writing this!!!!! I also work for College Connection and I agree 100% with EVERYTHING you just said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's right. All you need to do is ask to be placed on their do not call list, it's really that simple. Doing anything else will not stop these calls.
College Connection Rep 2011-09-22 09:10:06 Unknown
******** LISTEN UP ********
I AM A OPERATOR FOR COLLEGE CONNECTION. IF A REP HAS CALLED YOU AND YOU DO NOT WANT ANYMORE CALLS, DON'T NEED FREE COLLEGE INFO OR SIMPLY DIDN'T REQUEST ANYTHING, POLITELY ASK TO BE PLACED ON OUR "DO NOT CALL LIST" SO WE CAN STOP CALLING YOU!!! I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE MOST OF OUR INFO COMES FROM BUT PER OUR POLICY ALL CALLS NEED TO BE DISPOSITIONED AND IF YOU HAPPEN TO HANG UP, TEXT THE LAND-LINE "STOP" OR ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN POLITELY ASKING TO BE PLACED ON OUR "DO NOT CALL LIST" THEN YOU CONTINUE TO GET UNWARRANTED CALLS.
I'M SAYING THIS BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I WORK FOR THEM I HAVE ALSO GOTTEN CALLS FROM COMPANIES LIKE THEM AND WHEN I POLITELY ASK TO BE PLACE ON THEIR "DO NOT CALL LIST" IT WORKS!
LASTLY, I ONLY REPEAT THE WORD "POLITELY" BECAUSE JUST LIKE YOU, MY CO-WORKERS ARE PEOPLE AND HAVE FEELINGS AND IN GOES OVER BETTER IF YOU ASK THAN IF YOU YELL AND TRY TO DEMAND OVER THE PHONE.....

It is an automated dialing system. There is a bit of a delay before the telemarketer gets on the line so sometimes it seems like they hung up on you. The system WILL KEEP CALLING until you pick up and speak with someone. Tell them specifically, "add me to your DO NOT CALL LIST" IF you tell them SPECIFICALLY "ADD ME TO YOUR DO NOT CALL LIST" and they still keep calling, if you have any sort of proof, you can file a complaint and get paid.
If you tell them FU, STOP CALLING, not interested, or you just don't answer, there's a good chance you may keep getting calls every day. Also, call and add your # to the national do not call list if you haven't already and never submit your Number on websites.
One time when I got a new home phone, I was bombarded with calls until I got on the DNC list. After that I didn't get a single telemarketing call. That particular phone company, sold my number to at least 100 telemarketing companies before they sold it to me.

You can always block a call so that they can no longer call you. Here is an article i found from ehow that tells you how to do this. http://www.ehow.com/how_5707264_block-phone-number-calling.html

I called them back. They were interested in knowing if I was interested in some free college information. I have recently signed up on careerbuilder.com and posted my resume. I am sure that is where they got my information. What a nuisance those spammy college places are!!

YUD: If you have any connections to Sprint cut it out cold. They sold me an international plan then charged me full rate for calls to London where my B/F is. That cost me big time and I vowed to do my best to tell people every time I could. SPRINT IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY NO ONE SHOULD USE SPRINT.

Cara 2011-07-18 18:11:11 Unknown
I never answer if this number shows on my in coming call list. I am not interested in going back to school, and when I'm ready I have a school in mind. I'm sick of these calls twice or three times a day!
Brandi 2011-07-14 18:13:38 Unknown
This number has called me four times in three hours. I didn't answer it until I could check to see who it was. The calls started after I submitted scholarship and student loan information for my child to the Federal Financial Aid sight and the college he will be attending. They may be getting our information through this process somehow. Anyways, blocking the calls now.

Education Advance(?) doesn't respect no-call requests. They have been calling me for months.
They access your phone number from web-sites like CareerBuilder or other job-search sites. The one that got me on their radar was USA-Jobs. To search that site's job offerings, you have to plow through page after page of 'Advertiser' offerings; like University of Phoenix, etc., (where you have to 'Decline' or "No Thanks") at the bottom, or side of that page, before going on to another page.
It takes a LONG time to get to the 'jobs' page.
If you click-out after getting tired of the run-around; a pop-up comes up begging you to stay. You have to click-out the pop-up to get your screen back.
Then a day or so later, you start getting the annoying calls. Even if you are on the official 'no-call' list, they feel free to call you because you accessed a web-site they control, or have somehow gained access to. Probably hacked.
Creeps.

Does anyone think they know how this caller got our numbers? I have Cox communications for my phone. Has anyone put info on Zillow to respond to a ad? Call date 9-20-2011
ditto 2011-06-27 18:20:45 Unknown
Your best bet is to report the situation to your own service provider (ie: Verizon, AT&T, Boost Mobile, etc.), they'll be the only effective source of information; If you were to wish to press charges or simply block that (or those) specific numbers from calling your phone(s). They'll also take (mainly upon request) measures to report the caller(s) to the proper authorities, in order to stop these harassing callers at the source, via; Coordinating with local authorities and so on... You post your number(s) to the National Do Not Call Registry online, and you just get a whole second wave of new callers a few days (or weeks if you're lucky) later... Your best bet is to contact your own service provider(s)...
Good luck everyone.

I have received calls from this party but I will not answer calls from area codes I do not recognize. This is a repeat occurrence and a nuisance. I guess Do not call lists are not all that effective.
phillip 2011-06-24 18:33:30 Unknown
thx, I'll save all those numbers as 'DON'T ANSWER'...they really are fckn annoying got called every day twice!! Jeez!
