Keeps calling our land line around noon. When we pick up, there is no one on the other line, like they put the phone on mute. Calling the number back on my cell, I get an automated voice telling me to enter my number to be put on a Do-Not-Call list. Seems really fishy if they're well aware of it.

We keep getting calls from this number.  It is very annoying we do not answer & we are on the do not call list.  Sometimes this number calls 2 - 4 times a day

This number called twice and when I answered it, all I heard was a busy signal.

For the past 2 weeks my recently widowed mother has been getting calls from this guy and he tells her she won a large sum of money. She said that she hasn't entered anything and he said that her name was just drawn at random. How could they draw her name at random if she didn't enter anything? He knows her address and tells her that he'll be coming to her door with the money. She tells him she doesn't want his money. And he says...what's the matter? You don't need the money?  
He also calls from another number. 876-521-6501. He's asked her if she lives alone and even tells her her age, although he was a few years off. My mother doesn't live alone but this guy worries me. He has already called her 4 times this morning before 8:00a. I think she said this number says it's from Lafayette.
This is so scary. I think it's time to get the cops involved.

OMFG!!!!!!!! I do not know why random ppl call my house phone and it gets very annoying.
    My friend told me she wz getting strange calls from a young girl that she didn't know in CA but with a different number and she waz talking about 'some new app'. she said my friend's name and said 'See ya.' that sorta scared me, i mean, how often do u get a call from some1 saying ur name and saying 'see ya'. Creepy. anyways it surprised me when I got a call from a random CA # but i didn't pick up. It only called one time and from reading everyone's comments, i'm grateful. So as soon as I saw that this # waz a CA #, I looked it up. But i looked down the list of missed calls on my phone and it shows that i've had at least 5 unkown callers call me and it says 'unknown caller, private call' only 1 of the private calls has a number and i will look it up after this. at some point in January of this year i had one man call me repeatedly, and being only 11, he scared me. he said, "Hello...can you hear it?" i heard a rubbing noise and laughed a little, but then after silience I said who is this and what do you want? he said, "This is Larry. Can you hear it?" I didn't know anyone named Larry and thought it wz a prank so i said whatever and hung up. a week later he called me again on a sunday (his number wz on private) so i picked up and said hello? he said, "Hello...can you hear it?" his voice wz calm and he sounded weird, so i sighed knowing it wz 'Larry'. i said this isn't funny and you have the wrong number, what do you want? he said, "This is Larry...can you hear it?" it wz the same sound. i hung up and he called me again and we had the same discusion. i hung up frustrated and he called again. i answered and said hello? he said, "Hello...can you hear it?" I cussed hm out saying "OMFG!!!! Stfu and leave me the f*ck alone you b*stard!!!" He sounds like he's gonna cry and he says "What?" I hung up and that wz the last of him. I joked about it with my friends but it still makes me wonder. WHO WAZ LARRY.......?

Got a call from these idiots twice today. Playboy magazine called me last week and begged me to subscribe. I told them I was gay (I'm not), and wasn't interested. That made them even more aggressive. After several requests to pay on my debit card, make payments on my credit card (I don't use credit cards), I told them to send me the magazines and I'll send them a check. Will I send them a check? Of course not!   Swear at them, use the most vile of all racial slurs, tell them you're in the Russian mob (you have to start out with a fake Russian accent right off the bat for this one!) and that you're going to have them killed. Remember, they aren't recording the call, nor can they without telling you first. They aren't recording because they're crooks. Feel free to abuse them at will LOL!

When someone can't read the NO SOLICITING sign on my door, it's unfortunate for them, because I'm already sneaking around the side of the house behind them with my garden hose on full blast. I've had them call the police, but it actually says on my door, VIOLATERS WILL BE SQUIRTED WITH THE HOSE! LOL! The best ones are in the winter. I just laugh while I watch them shiver and shake to their car! It's been 4 years since the Jehovah's Witnesses have violated my space, and they still bother my neighbors. It pays to be a mean SOB.

The DO NOT CALL register is a joke. No one enforces any of the violations. I think it's just a government scam to data mine your name, phone, and other personal info. I gave up on it after the first time when the number of calls I got actually increased. When people like this call, I just light 'em up with a variety of swearing and racial slurs.

Just called my house.  Answered...nobody said anything.  Called the number back and got on their do not call list.

Keep getting missed calls from them, and it's wrecking my head because whenever I ring back it just says "sorry i missed you" and hangs up. Like, how do I get them to stop?!

They have called 6 times today.  I do not answer calls that I do not recognize.  Says Unavailable and the phone number.

I have received calls from this number on average 2-4 times a day. I called it back and it is of course an automated voice saying sorry we missed your call and if you wish to be placed on the do not call list enter your number and allow 72 hours. They used to call on my old cell number and when they told me I was a good customer and won magazines, I told them I didn't ahve a credit card or bank account so they were mistaken...they hung up! I work 3rd shift and don't sleep well as it is and this bugs the crap out of me but I have to keep my phone on for work and personal reasons also.

MCI & Verizon have joined together. If you're a Verizon customer you may be getting calls from them. I have a Verizon cell phone but the number being called is a new instal less than a week old.

When they call me the phone rings twice than they hang up.

3 calls one day and continuous calls the next day. No message.

I've received calls from this number numerous times, mostly while I am at school. I answered it once, saying "hello" and heard someone breathe into the phone before hanging up.  That's absolutely disturbing.  Called 3 times everyday for 3 days now.  I'm sick of it.

They call several times a day.  I don't answer and they don't leave a message.  I assume it's a robocall and that the signal from the answering machine cuts them off. There seems to be no way to stop the calls as I'm already on the no call list.

Three calls in six days; refused to talk with anyone but me. What are they selling?

I have seen where if you don't answer they will stop calling. I do not under any circumstances answer any number I do not recognize. And I called my phone provider and was told there was nothing they could do because most of the calls originate overseas or are some of the unregistered numbers.

I Googled this number and it's: MCI WORLDCOM COMMUNICATIONS. But they need to stop calling me.

I do not answer unknown numbers. My caller ID recorded numerous calls from this number in the past few days. I will not pick it up.

Have any of you had problems like this before. I have only because I was dumb and didn't think. I got scammed out of $600. The scary part was I told them I was pregnant with twins and when another company called claiming to be someone else they knew about them. I just hope all of this ends soon. I got them to stop calling by calling them out on their scam.

I recieved a call from them telling me they were going give me several magazines for free and they said I was a value customer and also going give me a  $100 rebate. They basically drained my account taking more than $40.00.

It seems that I am guilty of stopping drinking 12 years ago and it took 10 years to obtain excellent credit.Then these type idiots started the calls. I  have never answered them .I am a disabled vietnam Vet with far too much time at home so they really irritate me.I did the don't call list a long time ago-that did not work.The best one was this fraudulent Indian from India calling me on my unamed cell phone I had been using for two years paying every month on time.He says I owed this company $237 dollars but they would take a third to make thing right.I told the idiot that I was talking on the phone company"s line so tell me how could this be?I told him to go to hell.He kept calling eventually I did a cease and desist to the fraudulent texas company he fronted for.They have called me intermittently for three years,DO you believe the idiocy of such ratbags? It is all over this country-cannnot stop anything that invades one's privacy.

Yep, Same story here. Sounds like a magazine company- only thing worse is them actually ringing my doorbell.  ANNOYING!!!!

This 'California' number calls me on my private office line which also rings in my home. This is by no means the only call of this type I receive - it is unfortunately, all to common.

I also am on the National 'Do Not Call Registry' (NDNCR)and agree with yankeetexan; What is the point of registering if registering does not protect/block you from receiving unwanted solicitation phone calls? My question is, what recourse do we have? Is there a place where we can report unwanted calls and actually be removed from their calling list? What penalty do they receive if they violate (or continue to violate) the guide lines of the NDNCR? How can we know that they have actually been reported and warned?

It seems to me that when the automated recording comes on to instruct you to press a certain number if you wish to be removed from their list, that they then have confirmation that they have reached a real person and then will continue to call - at least that has been my experience.
