Some guy named Robert scammed my 82 year old mother into giving him a check-by-mail for travel vouchers. Now he has her account info. Have to go to the bank tomorrow and find out how to stop them from charging more to her account.

Caller got quite belligerent when I asked for the compoany name. Told me I had an attitude when I started asking questions. He wanted my credit card # to sell a truck I had posted on the autotrader. He hung up without answering my questions.

Yup, scammers. These guys are from www.classifiedvehiclesolutions.com and, while it maybe a legitimate business, it all boils down to payng as much as $500 for a "refundable deposit" and nothing useful in exchange... To actually get your money back you need to have bought an "optional" $100 "insurance". So, either way they make money on you wether you sell your car through them or not. For about $200 or so they list for you on eBay Classifieds, which if you care to check, is a free service by eBay - costs you nothing to do it yourself... Better to trade your car at the dealer than pay these guys even if they manage to sell your car, is my guess... Who would buy your car if you price it $600 more than market value to cover their fees??? Why would you do it??? Latest trick - they say "sorry, you're breaking-up" and they hang-up. Useless bunch, but more or less polite, at least during the first few calls...

Also, I don't have a car listed. I did have an add on craigslist, but not for a car. This guy did not act like he was trying to do anything with sales, he was trying to tell me I won some cruise package, I am pretty sure if I had let him continue he would have informed me of some fees or taxes that applied. I just want people to be aware that there are several scam choices from this number. Please, be smart and google the number!

This guy called me trying to tell me I had won something and it was because I supposedly filled out a little blue and white card, he proceeded to speak to me in a degrading voice questioning my memory of filling out such a card and that I should still have the tear off stub from it. This all began because I asked him how he got my number. He just kept rambling and demeaning me by saying "well I don't remember what I ate 4 days ago but I kknow I ate". I told him he was cocky and to never call my number again!

The 925 # called he asked if this was (knew my full name) I responded with may I ask who is calling?
He hung up.  I never posted any car ad so not sure where he got my name.  I did post a furniture ad with craig list about 1-2 months ago.  It had my phone # but not my name????

They called me to tell me that I had $14,000 in vouchers for vacations packages. I thought cool, don't remember ever entering a contest, but go on. Well, turns out they need 49$ for each voucher and needed a check number from me to verify who I was. SCAM!!!

Same here and I am in Alberta, received several calls from CVS less than 24 hours after being listed on Autotrader claiming they can sell my car and finance the sale through their affiliated partners for $500.

Another guy sends me an email asking for my PayPal account to pay for the vehicle as gift for his son and claiming he works on an offshore oil rig and cannot come to see the vehicle and has no access to a bank to send payment. I am wondering how these scams are supposed to work, do they really pay through PayPal? I decided to decline on this one as well. Please be aware of these scams.

Called me, was rude, asked who he was - not much for information.

He got scared once I started asking the questions and hung up.

Steer clear - this stinks...

As with everyone else on this forum, I noticed tonight that I had 5 missed calls from this number within a 2.5 hr period.  After googling number, I found this.  I too have a car listed on ebay classifieds, Cars.com, Autotrader, and craigslist.  Thanks for the info from previous posts.  Hopefully word will get out and at least slow these ******* down if not just get rid of them totally.

I have my car listed in the local craigslist, kijiji and Auto Trader and have been getting calls from 925-418-3217 all day. The first time I answered, all I got was "holding music" so I hung up. The other times I didn't answer because I knew it was from the same number. They hang up before my answering machine kicks in. I tried to text them to tell them to stop calling me but the text didn't go through.

I have also had six email replies to my ad, all scams. (i.e. I am a geologist/working offshore/out of town and can't come and see the car but I will pay full price and my agent will pick up the car, etc.) They all appear to come from the same person.

I google the number and got to this site. Since we have a phone number for this a***ole, can't the police trace this guy and nail him??

Guy calls me - just starts rhyming off options my car has and you can hear he is in a phone room and reading off a screen.  I stop to ask where he is calling from - California.  then just keeps plowing away with his questions.

I ask who he is and why he is calling about a car listed in Ontario Canada - I want to buy your car sir.
I ask what is the purpose of his call - he just says "well sir if answering my questions is too hard for you I'll give my money to someone else" and hung up.

Yeah i think it's a scam. From what I've read, they take $500 from you to copy and paste your ad (one that you've already posted for free) and post it on their sites ... "Guaranteeing" that you'll sell your vehicle. Supposedly if it doesn't sell in 60 days you'll get your money back ... but i believe in the fine print you'll see that you need to jump through several hoops to get anything back ... and even then they keep $100 anyway.

Red flags went up when they told me that i'd make more money selling the vehicle through them than i was advertising it for. Why wouldn't they just buy it and keep the profit? SCAM!!

THis is from some one trying to sell your car for a fee, Not sure if they are genuine, if you put an ad for your car, they take your number from there and call you.
