I have a car on auto trader.  They keep calling everyday and don't say anything or leave a message.  I do not answer the phone anymore as it costs me roaming charges and minutes on my cell phone.  Apparently blank off is not understood.

Same deal, $500 to guarantee a sale. I wont do it.  But I asked them to send me an email for more details.

I have a car on sale and i got a call from this number.  The voicemail is from someone named "Matt"... but when i pick up the phone, they hang up...

It isn't just autotrader-I have a car on Kijiji and they called, offering a guaranteed sale with $500 up front.  As soon as I said I dont think so-he got on with the hard sale.

So I have been getting a call from these people everyday as well. Only thing is they don't hang up on me. The connection is very poor though. They told me they were from Calgary and that their main office is in San Francisco area. They told me it was local people in my city looking to finance trough these people on a Honda civic. I was immediately drawn in and wanted to hear what they had to say. They told me that they would give me my full asking price plus give an extra $500 on top of that so that I remain satisfied and they said they wanted to make this a quick and easy sale for me. Only thing I have to do is let them test drive it and then go from there. All this just for posting on kijiji. They said I would get a certified cheque and to not give the car over until my cheque was cashed. All sounded too easy so I checked on here and found out it really isn't that easy. Great... But oh well! Just thought I would share my side of the story.

Would not leave a message and keeps calling and I am ignoring so I searched the number online and after reading other comments this is probably someone wanting me to pay them a fee to sell the car I have advertised on Craigslist for sale.

If I had wanted to pay someone to sell it for me I would have done that originally.  I want them to quit calling and leave me alone.

Same deal as everyone else! It amazes me the lows that companies sink to try to glom off of other companies customers! Who the f is out there searching and documenting people's numbers for this purpose! Fn annoying!

Same thing , keep getting calls , ID says greater San Fran area. I wont answer. Thinking maybe a loudhailer or air horn and wait till I get a real person on the line

yup. same thing. posted an ad in auto trader. looks to me like these guys found a way around the loss of income in free advertising by selling your contact info to these scammrs. This IS the wild west.

Got a call from this number listed my car on cars.com the personclaimed his name was Frank Cowen
he asked for a paypal email, when I emailed him and asked for a phone number he responded witha 15 digit number....scam!

Calls without saying anything and without hanging up, multiple times a day.

Listed my car on craigslist and cars.com, but not auto trader... Thought it was legit because i actually live a couple hrs away from"east san francisco".... What an f'n scam!!!!! Thank you guys for posting so us newbies know what is going on!!!!!!

This number called me twice.  The first time I did not answer, they did not leave a message.  The second time I answered and the guy said he was from a finance company calling to verify facts on the vehicle to approve a loan for their client.  I asked a few questions and he said some things I know were not true.  Because of this, I know it was a thinly veiled screening for something, but I'm not sure what.  Certainly not what it was reported to be!

is there people that still fall for scams like this one? i'm in canada and im not about to ship or sell my car to some one in the states. it's just anoying that they keep calling back.i ve recieved 3 calls within the hour, seriously is there any way to report them?

I have a SUV listed in VA for sale and I get a call every couple hours during the day every day. I never answer it and they leave no message. Get a clue - if you dont get an answer or leave a message, I wont answer you if I dont know the number.  What an annoyance!

I received calls from 9254183218 4 to 5 times a day.
No one answered when I picked it up.

ya, this phone number call me over 5 times a day!! and it had been like over a week!! I don't know what is he up to.. so annoying

The number 925-418-3218 is from Classified Vehicle Solutions a Mr. Ken Palmer who is looking to charge you $500 to list your vehicle for sale on their website.

I have had several calls from this number and others at all times day or night. Same scams. I have been trying to sell a vehicle on Kijij and Auto trader. I have called number back and line goes dead. I have had several replys by text all providing different stories about how they cant call due to being off shore working. Will send agent to purchase vehicle. They have all asked me to open pay-pal accounts. The more questions you ask they keep repeating that pay pal is safe. Sad thing is people are being sucked in. I have checked several of the numbers and many come back to Malaysia, Florida etc. After several of these calls and text or email messages. I just text them back and ask if the words sex and travel mean anything to them. (FXXK XFF) They then go away.

I'm getting them too.
Re: the scammers offering more for your cars: I paste this into an email and I never hear back from them:
"I will only deal with potential buyers in person, and payment will only be accepted in the form of a cashier's check drawn up by buyer's bank in the presence of both parties."

Saves me a lot of time.

I also have an ad in autotrader. The telemarketers are likely using software to scrape our numbers and employing autodialers to make outgoing calls. Likely a boiler room operation. Next time they call ill entertain them with my time and report back.

Listed my suv for sale at Cars.com and started getting this call from this number, East San Francisco Bay area. I answered it a couple of times but just hangs up.

I have a car on cars.com and they called 11 times and would ask if I was the owner and then hang up

Yep. Got 3 calls within 1hour. Didn't answer because have had them before and when I answer nobody is there. I have an ad on cars.com.

Stop calling.

I took my car off of cars.com about a week ago since I sold it on a different site and am still getting calls every other day from this number...never an answer or voicemail.....how long will they keep calling for?.....has this stopped for any of you after a certain amount of time?

Sure won't be using cars.com ever again!
