I just save the number and give it a special name like "Shit1", "Shit2" and so on.  I have about 40 or more of them on my phone and just put the ringer for that group on quiet and no vibrate.  If they call when you are talking to someone and call waiting comes in with a S***# you know better than to answer it.  When you have unwanted callers, just give them names and block them or put ringer for that caller on quiet.  Some of the scammers biggest goal is to get you to answer and that tells them the times you are available for calls and then they sell that info to telemarketers.  Auto dialers just help them do bulk and makes them more money.  If someone calls you and you don't know the number calling,  don't answer it.  If they are a friend or a legit caller, they will leave a message.  Have a good day

this happens once a week. I have been put on the do not call list so many time that I don't think
there is room for anyone else.
I am 75 years old. and I cant get rid of these people.
why don't they get a job or collect cans or do something useful
what they are doing is shameful. I would rather starve than harass people like this

Recorded message from Rachel from Cardholder Services.  I thought the FTC put a stop to her back in November 2012, but she's back with the exact same recorded message as before.

thanks Ross, shattered all my dreams of it being a long lost girl friend, my X, or a prank dirty phone call.    As if loneliness isn't enough.  I didn't answer, thought it was American Restoration calling me back about fixing my old bicycle built for two.  Thanks for info folks.  Don't worry about me, I'll be ok...

You can go to donotcall.gov and submit a complaint with that phone number. I have done it several times, and it seems to stop the calls for a couple of months.

I like to give these grifters totally false info in an attempt to waste as much of their time as possible, remember, for as long as you can keep them on the phone with you, they can't victimize anyone else.I've gotten pretty good at it,I average about 10 to 20 minutes a call.Hey,I'm retired, everybody needs a hobby! PS,it is true, the Do Not Call List is a joke, and once your number is on the scammers "list",it stays on forever, and as for complaining to the FTC,CIA,FBI,FCC,Hawaii 5-O, or anyone else, don't waste your time, that's a joke too!

Annoying beyond belief!  They call me day after day and say it is regarding my credit card accounts and lowering my interest rate.  When I push 1 to speak to a live operator, no operator ever comes on.  Just ignore/delete these calls!  Not worth your time or aggravation!

Do not answer these robo-calls or call the number back. They're scammers autodialing from a computer. When you answer, all you do is let them know they having a working number and will keep calling.

I haven't found a solution to the problem except not answering a number I don't recognize. If its a legit call, whoever is on the other line can leave a message.

I'm just as frustrated as the rest of you.  The number you "supposedly" receive a call from isn't likely the originating phone #.

Your best bet is to NEVER call a # back you don't recognize.  An unfamiliar # is not your long lost love trying to get back in touch, its not an old friend, it's not a family member in need, i.e., it's not a call that should pique your interest -I can't believe some of you saps call these #'s back (no offense)!

Secondly, if a call looks suspicious, I answer w/ my phone on mute... I don't say a word (usually a roto/autodialer won't originate a caller on their end until you speak).   If you answer w/o saying hello, and their end remains quiet, chances are you have a scammer.

If you do answer, NEVER threaten these FCUKS.  Sorry to say, but the ball is in their court.   They know you're #, and you don't know anything about them.  Let me be clear, the phone # on your screen is in no way related to them.  Threaten them, and they will bother you more and put your number on more call lists.

The "Do Not Call List"?  Hah, what a joke.   There needs to be stricter enforcement on Caller ID spoofing, auto dialers, et.   The jerks that call you don't have the DNC list, nor do they care about honoring it.

Typically you have companies mining for valid phone #'s (for resale, I've read the going rate is $0.10 a pop for every valid # they can compile/data broker -which is why I answer suspicious looking calls w/ my mute button on).   Change your outgoing message to only reveal your phone # for those times you can't answer phone w/ it muted -then at least they don't have your name via your outgoing message.   There are also smart phone Apps that recognize harassisng telephone/telemarketer numbers and spoof THEM that your number, "this number has been disconnected" (again, these scumbag telemarketer phone #'s are typically spoofed so these apps kind of help -but these *ssholes change their spoofed #'s often).

Write the FTC.   Write your State and Local Reps.  Federal Legislation was finally signed and passed into law w/in the past year or two but unfortunately the calls continue as nobody enforces closing "Caller ID Spoof" providers.

For further reading, check out...

http://www.fcc.gov/guides/caller-id-and-spoofing

http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2012/12/fe ... ts-non-harmful/

If the Feds can take down the Silk Road, they certainly could take down Caller ID Spoofs and Telemarketers.   Unfortunately for consumers, there is no revenue for the Feds to help us out, i.e., they don't care if your privacy is invaded b/c they can't make any money closing Spoof Services and enforcing the new(er) legislation isn't cheap.

Be smart, don't threaten these scumbags, don't put your cell # on surveys, the Do Not Call List is a waste of time, so is filing more than 1 complaint w/ the FTC... again, if you threaten these guys you will just be bothered more -that is until the Govt. takes effort to uphold existing law(s).

Hah, "telephone privacy rights".   Thats some ironic shti!!

So they called and I got the woman on the line to tell me that they pay her $4k a week (40% of what they scam off of everyone). I pretended that I got what I needed (like I was tracing the line) and eventually hung up on her. She called me back directly, without the automated service, saying she had 3 minutes left on her shift and wanted to harass me. She also laughed that the numbers she uses cannot be found/traced, etc etc, and used some choice language on top of it all.

So, is it possible to contact my phone provider and have them trace where the calls really come from? I know that there are dialers, number spoofers, etc etc, but there is some physical hardware on which this all has to travel and the hops these calls make should be recorded, right? I'm considering legal action seeing that this is gone on for years and doesn't stop.

caller wants credit card information if you have more than $2,000.00 dedt then you are eligable for lower interest rate then they start asking you information about your credit cards.  I have requested several times to drop and delete my number because I'm on a no call listing but they still call and its all hours of the day and night.

I got 2 calls back-to-back on my cellphone. Both registered as missed calls because the sleazebags hung up before it went to voicemail. Naturally, when l called the number back, l got a recording that the number is no longer in service. I get so many of these scam calls on my landline, but they're even more intrusive on a cellphone. So sick of this! I think the only way they will stop bothering people is if no one answers their calls. Only pick up a call if you recognize the number. Don't worry about missing a call. If it's important, the person will leave a message. These sleazebags never do!

The one from Rachel at: 928-467-4719 calls at least 3 times a week.  Is there anything else I can do to get rid of these unwanted calls?
