Number came up on caller ID identified as NEIGHBOR but no message was left and, since I live nowhere near New York City, it was definitely NOT a neighbor.

The "caller" started by saying, "Senior citizens" I hung up before hearing any more as it was obviously a recording.

Received a call from this number (CID New York, NY). I answered, the recording started - I hung up. Phone rang again IMMEDIATELY and when I answered it was the same recording CONTINUING ITS CONVERSATION from where it left off! I did this 3 more times to see if it would do it again. Yup. This call would not allow me to hang up on it. Creepy scammer with a new bit of technology. Luckily, my 89 year old mom is well versed in avoiding these people. I will not answer again.

OK,  this is a scammer calling you - they are trying to reach seniors to "give" them  $3000.00 in 'grocery discount coupons'  along with a $400.00 "free" medical alert system (with $34.95/month monitoring service fee).

So what's the rub?   They want you to give them your debit or credit card number over the phone - BEFORE - they will give you their info - OR a working contact number.

RED FLAG of a SCAM OPERATION!!!!!

At this point the called party has NOTHING in the way of any REAL info on this company.

Let's back up a second.   Here's the time line of events on this call.

Ring Ring -
Answer,  pause....the the robocall starts.  "This is Senior Care USA calling to let seniors know we have this..."
Then once that robo call is done, we move onto another recording.   This time it says the company is "American Alert Services" and goes into a pitch about seniors and falling along with all of the other horror stories that  can be used in this situation.
Then we're on to a live body.  Nice young lady asking about my address and wanting to know if this is the best number to reach me on.   Then she goes for the Card number.   I tell her I just tried calling her back on my cell phone (since she had called my land line number) and it came back as disconnected.   So I explained to her that I would need a good WORKING number to call back on before I would consider giving her my Card info.
She hee haw'ed around and had to speak with her "supervisor" and wasted about 4 minutes before giving me this number - 877-293-7160 (which also didn't work, but online it came back to a website called LIFEWATCH - yet AOTHER company name...)

So, we have them calling and pretending to be:
Senior Care USA
American Alert Services
LIFEWATCH

All of the above are fakes.   These goons just wanted the card number to begin charging granny a monthly fee and by the time they realized they weren't getting anything of REAL value for their money, these idiots would have racked up a few months worth of fees and then moved on to the next scam.

So what did we learn today?

$34.95 is HIGH for monitoring.
These goobers are SCUM
They LIE and they should be in jail.

First violation:   Faked number on Caller ID
Second:  Robo-Call
Third: No real contact info, obscure and generic sounding company names that look alike to some legitimate ones
Fourth: Fraud

This is nothing more than a scheme to rip off seniors.

Just got a call from this number, listed as 'NEIGHBOR'. Left no message. Have very high doubts it was actually a neighbor.

Agreed! After all the recent bad press regarding the NSA one would think they would want to clean up their image. A great way to  clean up this image then to track and prosecute the "free-cruise" scam, "medical-alert" scam, "free-security-system"scam, "windows-virus (calls from India) scam, etc. scams.

Just got a call from this number.  They did not leave a message.  CID = New York    NY

Thanks again DoNotCall.gov?

It's strange that the NSA can illegally track, catalog & record all US calls & most calls around the globe but no US government agency will enforce existing telecom laws to protect the consumer?  But they will waste tax dollars on such things as "DoNotCall.gov" in order to facilitate more government expansion?
