yeah this one is a scam..this person will message u on facebook..ask you to hit them up ...at that number..dnt know the purpose exactly though

"She" used the name Jessica Surbaugh to contact through FB. Same message. Liked photo, decided to friend request, messaged me and then said had to go but to contact through the number were all here looking up. I was suspicious and it seems for good cause. I am erasing contact. Most likely some kind of scam.

Texting the number results in a bot responding with something about over text limit and to go to a web site which is a front for adult dating sites.  The domain used is yet another eNom scam registered domain which they dns and have whoisguard.com to hide behind.  Much like the spam I get through eNom registered domains.

Reported to Facebook as a scam and notified my mutual friends of the account to defriend it.

Got this too.  Different name, but pretty much identical MO here.  Texted back using a free service to see what happens...

Jessica Beshears is the new fake alias of this number on Facebook. She messaged me the same BS all of you are saying with the same phone number...

her alias was Jennifer Sheler she added some of my friends pretty funny i think.

The account that is sending these messages is a fake account set up to send these messages in hopes that you will respond to them via text message. If you do, you will be sent a link to a pornographic site, according to a poster here who did text the number.

If you get a message with this number:

1) Unfriend the person sending the message.
2) Report the account to Facebook as either fake, spam, or scam.

In order to protect your information, as there is potential for identity theft as well:

1) Go to your privacy settings at the top of the page in the left hand corner.
2) Hide the following:
Your phone number
Your email address
Your date of birth (you can hide only year if you'd prefer)
3) Hide your friend list.

Why am I telling you to hide this information? In the case of phone number, email, and DOB, there is no real reason this needs to be on Facebook. Anybody close enough to call or email you probably already has this information stored in their phone or email contact list. They probably know your birthday as well.

As for your friend list, I believe this is how this number is finding new contacts. Hiding your friends list will prevent the people you know from falling victim.

Just got a friend request shortly from the same number, called herself Jennifer Morphy. Googled the number and got to this. What is it that she / he/ they benefit from?
