Caller David S. Murphy age: 40-44 and his mom Norma G. Murphy age: 60-64 called me today too.  Left no vm.  Dear David and Norma, why do you keep bothering people?  You're going to have to work a little harder if you're trying to steal their identies.

Called today, no msg left.  Caller ID says Miamisburg, OH.  But this number belongs to: Norma G. Murphy, age 60-64 years old and David S. Murphy, age: 40-44.  Why do you call me mr. Murphy.  Do you want my personal info. or something.

Same as other messages, call came in rang twice, nobody there when I pick up.  Called back, recording is that this number is out of service.  One thread says this is a Skype number and another says they used reverse look up to find a David Murphy.  It can't be both.

Of all the reports on this and another call-info site, nobody ever heard any person or machine - just a hang-up.
The call is probably robo-dialed via internet with a spoofed number.
All they are finding out is what phone numbers actually have a person that answers.
They can sell this list (repeatedly) for real money to pollsters, telemarketers and outright criminal scammers (domestic or foreign).
The DNC list is irrelevant as they are law-breakers to begin with, and hiding behind the internet spoof.
For those of you that said you called the number back: Free Advice - never call back unknown numbers:
- most of these calls are spoofed to a non-working number so you waste your time
- if it is their number, they are just using it to collect more information about you when you call back
- if they answer it could be even worse - if they are outside the US (but still in international code "1") they can have a 'pay per minute' phone service set up that bills your phone number when you call them back (like a sex chat 1-900 line) - and the call-back could cost you $20/minute.

Makes me suspect that they are random dialing to build a list of phone numbers that people actually answer.

Just got a call @ 3:51pm, phone rang 3 times, I did not answer.  Caller ID shows name as Unavailable

Called.. all the way to Alaska. Never said a word. This company must have deep pockets to pay people just to make random calls but never actually Say anything. If they call back I will take the call and if they start talking, That's when I will hang up on them.

There should be national campaign to stop annoying and harassing callers. As it is this Miamisburg, OH number, 937-859-7731,  is still in operation.

He is backkk.  Now caller ID shows Out of Area.  When you call back it is disconnected.

Just got a call from this number and it rang 3 times and stopped. Says it is disconnect when you try to call back. After reading the previous post that are a couple years old, looks like they are back to it again

I just had them call me.  First time I've had this number call.  It is usually 2 other numbers that call us, from 575-635-7723 and 210-198-3357 (this one yells spanish at us, no matter how many times I say I don't speak it.)  I'm getting pretty sick of all these dumb calls.  I filed a police report on the 575 and 210 numbers, as they have been calling for at least 6 months now.  I doubt it will go anywhere though.

I also got a call from this number on 10/29/13 at 1:55pm. I screen my calls so did not answer. Caller ID says  OHIO. They did not leave a voicemail. Do not know who it is, and wonder who the spoofer might be or what they are up to.

8-14-2013  rang 4 times ,but had ans. mach. unplugged until ringing stopped/unavailable on ID.

I desided to block this number from two locations. One: My phone company and Two: My phone itself.

Received the same call. Also called back and it was discounted. Weird that I lost my wallet in that town a couple of weeks ago.??

Called and up by 4th ring, caller ID as unavailable...have had 12 different numbers call us in the past 14 days, some more than once...what is up with this???

Just got a call from 937-859-7731 at 1.10pm.  Actually answered the phone - no one was there - it immediately hung up and I got a busy tone.  Strange.  Called back, number was disconnected.

they use magic jack which means they can make their number anything they want to no matter where they are. they want you to call back so that your name and number will show up on their caller id so they can use that information to steal your identity. theyll enter it into a database and your address will show up and pretty soon theyll have enough info to find out your ss number from some business database they might work at or kno somebody that works there...lke they could have a friend that works at a credit reporting company...and either sell your info to advertising agencies or would be identity thieves

You have pretty much made my point for me. The law has no teeth, and actually, yes I do remember. I remember quite a few calls from legitimate (local) businesses who, once I mention the DNC list, always apologize and promise to take us off their calling list. They shouldn't have called me in the first place, and I should be compensated for my inconvenience. But that's just my opinion. :)
