I hope all of you will do what I did and call the inspector general for fraud at medicare and give them this number and explain what the scammer is doing. If enough of you report this I would believe they will go after these crooks. There is s form that you fill out and you do not have to leave your name if you choose not to.

Medical Emergency Alert System saying the equipment I had been ordered paid for and would be shipped. It was a recording and said to Press #1 to confirm delivery. Obviously soliciting. I am a college student. What a crock!!
| Texas 2013-07-25 18:32:01 Telemarketer |
It's a recording, "John" calling to schedule shipment of my medical alert system. Another site claims it's a debt collector trying to get address info. Not a working number when you call back, as others have reported. Too bad the FTC can't do anything about this!

So if the AARP is a scam, they must be warning us of a problem that doesn't exist. The next time the phone rings with a medic alert scam I'll discount it all as a figment of my imagination.

SO! The scammers just keep coming up with more numbers, and places to call from. Try Malibu, CA, Maitland, FL, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, 800 SERVICE, and you'll have exactly the same call. It's either a TIMESHARE ADVENTURE/SALE, or a MEDICAL SECURITY for seniors SCAM.

AARP is a scam, just another campaign contributer for Obama and the Far-Left Nutjob Democrats.

This is not a legit company. It is scammers trying to get financial information. Never press numbers or call them back. It just shows that your number is a live number.

They keep calling, it is recorder. They are selling alert systems. We never buy from any telemarketer.

This guy keeps calling me over and over but will not talk to me when I answer, If I call the number a recording tells me it is not a working number. There must be someone we can report this jerk to.

They crinkle paper during the reading for the recording to make you think it is a real person looking at a file. Gimme a break. Blocked (I use Google Voice and the number they called is now my Google number. Very easy to block these folks.)

Do you have a phone that will not ring when a blocked call is incoming? I have this number and others blocked, but my landline phone still rings at least a couple of times. I don't want to hear it period!
I just got another call from this number this afternoon.
| Billie 2013-07-19 16:31:35 Unknown |
There is an article in the current AARP Bulletin explaining the medic alert for seniors scam that is well worth the reading.

We also keep getting calls from 940-230-2185, Medical Alert. I have opted out but calls keep coming. If I call the number back instead of getting the recorded message to opt to talk to a "rep", as I have in the past, I now get silence with nothing. Note, I now block my number when calling them back. Don't think they like it! Too bad......

I got another so called medical alert scam robo call from this number. I have noticed something else. They used to cut off after 5ive rings. My family lets a phone ring up to ten times because it takes me awhile to get to the phone from the other end of the house. These calls (aimed at old peopple) now ring that many times. One company is letting it ring ten times. Then there is a hickup and it starts over ringing again another twn or so times.
Also this past week a major scammer in Oregon is using the names of other busiesses. One was a bakery and another was labelled a cafe. Anything to get you to answer the phone but who would buy anything from someone obviously using a dodge like that.

scam operation, maybe medical alert is behind it, maybe not. protect your credit info from these bottom feeders, just hang up and never refer them or their product to anyone.

So I answer and this recording comes on of some dude named jon, and he's all rambling about how he's calling to schedule my delivery of my medical alert system, "you know like you have seen on TV". Didn't even listen to the whole thing, I said I am sorry what number are you calling, and it just kept talking. So yea stupid recording. Bet it would really confuse some poor older people. Go away bottom feeders

I get calls from this number (from Denton County Texas). They wait until the answering machine comes on and then hangs up without leaving a message. I figure if they can't leave a message I don't need to talk to them. I've now blocked them and hopefully I won't get any more calls from this number. It's really aggravating.

I am sick and tired of John at Medical Alert .... He called last month from a number with Houston area code 713... today he called from 940-230-2185
It's all fake, he's a fake recording and when you Google Medical Alert Scam, he's been reported all over the USA!

"Best" example of a robo call ever. You do not notice for a long time that the person on the line is recorded. It is another number for the free home alert system because someone recommended me and becuase people will always beleive that there is such a thing as free. (what a con).
"YOU ARE A TELEMARKETER, AND I DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT USES TELEMARKETING AS A FORM OF ADVERTISING" (stolen from a comment on this web site -- I love it). And do not answer name unavailable ever as calls are now starting to say that often. Another comment from this web site says: When you press the number to have your number removed, all you do is confirm that your number is a working one. Now I either block the numbers or I don't answer the phone at all. Another comment was: They sold your known active number to another scammer!!! That is what they do when you call them back to opt out. SO DON?T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED!
Let me explain my idea of ROBO CALLS. Each area code has 9,999,999 numbers fyi (7 digits). The program starts calling every number that it can in succession. So they don't need to buy or obtain lists from anyone. I am going to copy and paste and post this info for each number that calls me for this web site (9,999,98 numbers more to copy and paste to)
NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS AND LAZY COLLECTION AGENCIES (statute of limitations on debt: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml) who call everyone with the same name instead of looking up the right one and all we can do is block them or use call forward selective.. DNC does not work when they are robo dialing all possible random numbers. The authorities can not or will not help either.
So, just block them, DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS, and continue using this great site for information to be in control of your own home and cell phone calls. If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know (number not on this site), just call them back. No problem. It?s a lot of work that I do (checking the number on this web site, blocking the caller, and making my own excel spreadsheet of numbers) but at least I FEEL like I have a little control of the situation. Maybe I'm delusional. Another smart person on this web site said to save it to your contacts as spam 1, then spam 2, etc. so you can just ignore the call.
ITS OUR LIFE AND WE NEED TO TAKE IT BACK.
One person said to call forward selective to the FCC whose number is 1-717-338-2533
The Center for Investigative Reporting joined two news organizations in an investigation of groups that use telemarketers to raise money and they found is that most of the money is paid to telemarketers, leaving the charities with little, if anything. (3%)
Not only that reputable charitable organizations don't solicit donations by phone.
So it's good advice to remember to just say no to anyone who solicits over the phone unless you actually know the person calling.
