I received a call from this number July 25 no one was on the line. After reading the above I have received several calls requesting donations to the Texas State Troopers Assn. Always tell them I donate locally.

Bogus telemarketing company claiming to be collecting for the Texas State Troopers Association. The Texas Attorney General says: the Texas State Troopers Association (TSTA), which hires professional telemarketers to call potential donors for contributions. While the paid solicitor might have a good sales pitch urging potential donors to support the state police, much of the money raised by TSTA doesn’t actually go to officers or their families. According to a recent IRS filing by the TSTA, its telemarketing efforts yielded $3.59 million through telephone solicitations. Of that amount, more than 75% – or $2.78 million – was spent on “professional fundraising fees.” The IRS documents also indicate the organization spent just $10,800 on trooper death benefits; $22,000 on a “trooper event;” and $72,000 on contract lobbyists

I put this on the wrong site before. It belongs here for 940-343-8438. My husband's grandmother was baby-sitting for us and this jerk called and got her all upset by using the name state troopers. Why can't this stuff be stopped once and for all.

Lol! I tried to return their call, they are using Magic Jack! Please inform others NOT to give any money to these people, the REAL Texas State Troopers recieve such a very small portion of the collected money. Check out TexasStateTroopers.Org,

Received a call from this number and it stated the following: "welcome, please stand by for your message" and like an idiot I waited ( I was expecting an important phone call and it came up on the caller Id as unknown)
I called it back for grins, and the message said : The magic jack customer you have dialed is not available, please leave a message"
ARG!!

My wife has Ca employees, which is where the area code is from, so she'll just see the area code and answer the phone. I think even better than cussing them is to just say "I've actually heard of you!"......from the Texas AG's website!"
I usually just let it ring because that's what caller id is for but now that I know what they are I think I'll just sell it back to them. Without control they have no leverage and emotion is what they sell. They're probably trained to call back people screaming obscenities even because they're getting emotion and that's close to getting your money. I think I'll see if I can ruin thier day instead by getting them emotional about what they really do for a living. I'm sure they have to lie to themselves a little to pick up a phone.

I knew a long time ago. At that time, I was a money colletor for their solicitation. They gave you a so-called trooper logo window sticker and colleted checks. They are scammers. Don't answer!!

They just hung up and when I called them I told them don't call back or I will call the cops.

I plan to tell to F*@& off the next time they call my house. If that does not work, I will ask my computer guru friend, who incidently does contract work for the DOD & USAF, to crash their system of computer operations.

So now they have moved to the 940 area code. The Texas State Troopers Association was exposed by the Texas Attorney General as a scam. It is not a real association of Troopers, but a telemarketing firm owned by a family. In some of their calls a male telemarketer pretends he is a trooper, or at least allows you to think he is a trooper. The vast majority of money donated to this scam goes into the pockets of the owners.
