We just got one too but they left no message maybe from Craigs List, did your husband advertise something on there? Did they ask with full name or first? Could be an indication?

Received call last night at 7:50 -- didn't leave message on machine, but showed up on caller ID

I get a different number, 813-464-2373 but the caller ID says "SOFAPAL".  They have been calling virtually non-stop for days without leaving a message.  I finally took the call today and he said he was with the Police Athletic League and wanted help (meaning money) to keep kids off the streets and out of trouble.  I told him I had other charities I supported and had nothing to give him.

I just got a call from SOFAPAL 561 948-8070 asking for my wife by her first name. I asked who it was and they hung up.

I have received muliple calls from this number asking for donations.  It seems as my verbal: "Do Not Call this number anymore" was not enough.  A sarasota 941-866-2336 just called here again at 730pm.  A man asked for me by name to my husband who answered the phone.  The caller hung up immediately.  These people really have a shady way of doing business.  Not to mention causing suspicion in what seems like several relationships.  I did manage to call the number back where I was directed to a 800 number where I was able to push 9 and get my number on the DO NOT CALL list....what a pain in the a** these people are.

Called back and it claims to be Police Athletic League.  When I answered, no one responded, which is annoying in and of itself.

Yes its probably the Police athletic league..They really need a lesson in phone etiquette.

Caller asked for the owner. I asked who & why?  He said "well who is this?".  I said this is the man who is hanging up on you, goodbye.  When I ran his number, I found this string so here is mine for the record.

Called around 4:00 today from #941-866-2336 and again from an unknown number at 4:08pm.  The first call was asking for the business owner and I refused to give any information over the phone.  Caller was very rude and then hung up.  Does anyone know how we can call these A**_____ back????
The second call said they were from the South Florida Association of Firefighters and was requesting a donation for the child burn victims.  These guys really need to be taught a lesson!!!!!  As a firefighter I don't appreciate someone using a good cause to promote a shady business.

I got a call from 941-866-2336 asking for my husband, but wouldn't say why.
Caller hung up abruptly when I asked.  Caller ID says "SOFAPAL."
This call was the third call for my husband from three different numbers in the same day.
First number was "Out of area" 866-484-8292.
Third call was also "Out of area" but claimed to be our mortgage company 866-836-8338.
This is not the normal channel for our mortgage company.
These calls are suspicious.

Missed call, didnt recognize 941 area code so let it ring. Dialed back and message said to dial 1-800-463-2924 after a little google investigation their related number said to dial 1-800-299-1895 (same company, same message, different person/voice reading the cue cards).

They've been calling my house for 4 months.
We've said no thank you, put our # on the do not call list.
But yet they still call.
I called them back and its a automated system telling me to call "customer service" at: 1-800-299-1895
I've called the Police and they are going to investigate this issue.
So if anyone else has any other information post it up.

I never answered it, the name on the ID just made me laugh. It came through at 7:51pm.  I do not answer calls like this. They did not leave a message either.

I received the latest call from this # around 8pm today. They did not leave a message. I am on the Do Not Call list.. but yet get NUMEROUS calls from different numbvers daily...

Caller hung up after three rings.

REceived call from 941-866-2336.  Answered without any response.

I just received a call from this number and they did not leave a message - I don't answer if I don't know who it is.  I screen all of my calls through the answering machine.  Glad I looked this up!

Just got a third call from this guy over the past 6 months; when I told him I knew he was a scammer, he said "f... you" and hung up!  This guy said he was from some sort of police benevolent association and he wanted money, period. Beware this scam..this guy is going psycho now.

I've registered with the Do Not Call list, so I don't know why the Police Athletic League in Jacksonville FL would call me using the number 941-866-2336 which is not in Jacksonville but in the Bradenton FL area. The caller ID said SOFAPAL. The man wanted a contribution, but I heard on TV the FL police do not solicit donations by phone. I told him I'd never contribute to any organization over the phone. He said he'd mail me something. I'm chalking this one up as a scam, pure and simple. Beware!

Supposidly getting donations for a police organization...SOFAPAL "stands for South Florida Police Associated League"...BEWARE...the state of Florida police departments, state troopers, sherriff etc DO NOT solicite donations via the phone.
