I received a call today from allen patrick basically telling me that I owe $16,000 dollars for a truck company loan from 5 years ago. I got a letter saying they went bankrupt (form 1099 c) but there was nothing threating me about a payment. I read a lot of reviews, researched the company which has no type of description of their business on their website, searched their mediation department for this allen patrick, closed a bank account once before from them or  because they were taking money from me after I told them to stop and I don't hear from them for 5 years, now I owe a lump sum of money. I need advice on what to do please because I don't know what to do or what to really think about this situation. Then, its real odd how the same thing is happening to other people and how this same company has several different numbers.

I worked there they won't do anything to you they will call an say they are with the national driving registery an that they are sending a 1099 to irs if you decline mediation another guy will call you an say his an attorney an wants to help you he works there an is just a collector account are out of statue I would still get a lawyer just to sue them for being shady they will not levy your account or take a cdl

They will not sue you they lie also they won't take anyone CDL the guy that  calls an says his an attorney is not he is calling from same office he is a collector acting like a lawyer he also calls an says he is from national driving r egistery. Also they will tell you about a 1099 another lie they go by fAir debt servicing act media credit an cogent all the  loans are out if statue they aren't even on your credit

Nationwide was accused of fraud in the sale of surplus govt. vehicles.  Cogent collects on auto loans.  Has anyone researched the chain of title?  A lot of complaints with regards to recieving the Titles.  Nationwide is out of business acccording to the internet.  Is it possible Cogent does not have legal authority to transfer title?  If not, then who?  hmmm.. Just a thought.  Don't know much about auto loans but it seems that if the company is collecting on a loan and then it is paid off, the owner of record needs to transfer title within a certain time limit.  Contact the Motor Division of Vehicles in AZ.  If this has been an ongoing issue they should have some info. on them.

Cogent Financial appears to have been related to several companies, often doing business in popular varieties of fraud. These are but a few names:

- "Car Care Warranty", bogus auto warranty sales
- "Discount Mortgage Relief", home loan mod shop
- "Nationwide Auction Finance", used car dealer
- "Fair Debt Servicing", loan servicer for possibly some of the above

Some have changed addresses in Arizona multiple times. Those which rely on phone banks all tend to generate complaints of abusive and manipulative reps, and no bank account seems safe once access is granted. Other found items follow.

What happened with Leo Hudson? I'm dealing with him now.

My husband and I are dealing with them now. They are threatening to sue my husband for a student loan  that he took out for truck driving school. They are also threatening to freeze his and his cosigner's bank accounts and threatening to suspend his cdl license.  Has anyone actually had these things happen to them by Cogent? We've hired any attorney, but have to get all the paperwork and money for attorney's fees paid before we can proceed.

I have dealt with a Leo Hudson. He called me out of nowhere to tell me that I was being sued over an 8 year old loan I cosigned for my ex husband. He's a real piece of work...Told me that I would be sued if I didn't hand over 8000 now. Then I get a call from a guy named Chris Miller who is supposed to be an attorney who wants to help me. I gave him consent to help me get this under control. I hadn't heard from him in a few days, so I called him and his number went right to Leo Hudson....SCAM

I cosigner of a truck driving loan have not heard from them in 8 years now they are trying to collect!

I got a medical loan from them in 2005, now they are calling me NON STOP accusing me of all kinds of things! saying I committed fraud and lied on my application which is a LIE ! they have called people saying that they are the police and they are "building a case" against me it's terrible.

These guys are Cogent Financial Group/ Medicredit. They are a Private lender - BBB shows 14 years in business.
Guy who called me was in Arizona. My lawyer confirmed they are the real deal and apparently they have recentl started collecting on past due student loans, CDLs,

8663648201 I HAVE CALLED THIS FOR THREE DAY STRAIGHT JUST ABOUT EVERY HOUR TO TRY AND MAKE A PAYMENT, THEY LEFT A MESSAGE FOR ME TO CALL THEM BACK THEY EVEN  SAID THEY MIGHT SUSPEND MY CDL, THEY USE TO SEND ME COMFIRMATIONS THAT A PAYMENT WAS MADE BUT I HAVENT HAD ONE OF THOSE IN ABOUT 4 MONTHS.

I been calling this 800 number for the last three day just about every hour they are wanting a payment and i have it left mesages they even threaten to suspend my CDL but they wont return my phone calls.

I recently tried to buy a house and pulled up my credit report and got a ding on it from the Cogent financial group.  I bought a car out in Riverside along time ago and before I could break it in real good, someone stole it, and totaled it.  Thank God I had insurance, and it was paid off.  This was over 7 years ago.  The car was paid off by my insurance company so this should have been off my credit report, but it's not.  I called the number listed for this company and the gentleman that answered the phone said, "oh dear, I am so sorry about this, but I have received multiple calls regarding this company that is not good!! He referred me to call the California state Attorney General's office.  What do we do now?

Cogent financial group is a legit company based out of Dayton, OH. I called them just to see if I could talk to a Varda Dinkha come to find out the man that answered the phone said he gets calls like that all the time I asked him about cogent in CA. And AZ. Said he wad not familiar with them so these scammers appear to be using some other companies name to appear legit the number I have to AZ. Is 1-866-364-8201 and the fax is 480-307-6113 I went to truck driving school back in Nov. They are so unfair. You have no idea how many issue I gone through with this matter. Insurance, DMV and even being pull over for having expire tags, on top of that paying parking and driving ticket for having expire tags.

Its not a legit company. They are so unprofessional.

Janel, I made my last payment in November of 2011 and simply asked them to send me the title so I could take it to  the DMV so I could get the pink slip. I have been calling since last year, I always got a recording...finally one morning some guy answers... totally an a-hole and tells me to go to the dmv without any paperwork from them at all. I'm like what am I suppose to say? I never got a reply... I'm still trying to get the paper work from Cogent Financial/MedicreditGroup...some way to treat your customers after taking their hard earned money. Cogent would always contact me if I missed a payment by phone or USPS but after my last payment....nothing!

If you search for this business on BBB it gives them an F! They never take care of any issues. Are they still making you pay for this? Have you tried to contact lawyers?

Janel, I am going through kind of the same thing right now. I have a car loan through Cogent Financial Grp and I went to go trade in my car and they said that I dont even have a car on my credit. that nothing shows since 2010. I bought the car in 2007. I have no idea what is going on and have been paying on a car that is not even bringing up my credit score nor even on my credit. In 2010 my husband and i went on the hunt for this co to Long Beach and Aliso Viejo and never found them. I have no idea what to do we dont have a pink slip and I cant sell the car to the dealer because of this.

This business is NOT legit! My husband had to go through them for a truck driving loan & we fought with them for years! The truck driving school ended up having to close because COGENT owed them 2 MILLION dollars! After they FINALLY said they would settle with me, because they screwed me since day 1, i paid them off... $187.50 for 2 years straight & then guess what...? they hit my bank acct for $250.00 7 months after I PAID THEM OFF!!! My bank had to go after them & guess what... found out that they are a scam! Please do NOT mess with this company... I know first hand that it's a scam... I am currently talking to Lawyers to get all of my money back!
