Called this morning at 9:30 am - blank space on phone so I hung up.  Stop calling me, a******s. I had them call my cell phone too last Friday.  Apparently they are from the US abusing people registered on the Cdn. do not call list.

I received a reply from the FCC stating that they had received my complaint, were reviewing it, and would contact me if any further information was needed. They also attached a copy of my complaint.

From their website: "The FCC can issue warning citations and impose fines against companies violating or suspected of violating the do-not-call rules."

If you include all the requested information in your complaint, then they can use that to determine what action to take. E.g., if many people complain about the same number, a more serious action would be taken versus a handful of complaints about a number.

Don't forget, your state may allow you to sue people who violate the do-not-call rules. You may get $500-$1500. Again, from the FCC website:

"Some states permit you to file law suits in state court against persons or entities violating the do-not-call rules. You may be awarded $500 in damages or actual monetary loss, whichever is greater. The amount may be tripled if you are able to show that the caller violated the rules willfully and knowingly. Filing a complaint with the FCC does not prevent you from also bringing a suit in state court."

Don't be discouraged and don't think it's a waste of time.

I got this call on my cell phone as well. Claiming that my car title would be out and blah blah blah. Well, lets see here where to start first?! Oh yeah!!! I have a car, and it's fully paid for!! Stupid freaks!! I called them back and the first message that i got was "if you dont want to receive promotions from us please press 1" i did...then like 10 seconds later it hung up on me. This is getting sooo rediculous with all these scammers. Please everyone, be careful. and dont give out your CC information or any other information. And ask them to send you information and never give CC number without proper information from them that they send to you via snail mail.

I'S A SCAM FOR YOUR CEDIT CARD NUMBER

I got a call telling me that my car warranty is up! i have an extended warranty on my car!!! when i told them that they tried to tell me i need more! and whatever i tooled them they keep trying to get me to give them MY CEDIT CARD NUMBER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm unemployed and with nothings better to do i keep him on the phone for 1 1/2Hr. and the hole time they keep trying to get me to leave a deposit "MY CEDIT CARD NUMBER"

My son just received the exact same phone call on his cell phone with an automated message left on his voicemail.  I have previously reported companies to the FCC for violating DNC policies, and received back forms from the FCC stating that I did not provide sufficient information.  At this point I believe the DNC law is useless, a waste of paper and resources, and for the average citizen is little more than an exercise.

If the FCC took all such submissions seriously and accepted that those who make complaints may not have all information, such as what company is calling them (how do we know when they fail to identify themselves?) then I, too, would suggest people go to the trouble.

Just now... Ignored as out of my area

got scammed. The call came while driving. Got flustered and nervous. They called to have car warrenty renewed. No one to talk to when nunber is called back. Cell phone Co. said call was from Saddleback Valley, CA. Will be reporting this to the local CA. authorities.

This call was an automated message "informing me" that the warranty on my car is about to expire...blah blah blah. It gave me an option to press 1 to speak to a customer service representative and when I pressed 1, I was hung up on. The message never identified the company who was calling.

They called a work cell phone, on which it's illegal to make autodialed telemarketing calls on in the U.S.  I will be forwarding this phone number to the FCC as a violation. From the FCC website: "FCC regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone
numbers".

Called the number back and the message says:

"If you are not interested in receiving any future calls regarding our special promotions, and would like to be placed on our do not call list, please dial 1. Please allow up to 72 hours to have your number removed from our preferred marketing list. Thank you and have a nice day."

Notice, again, there is no mention of the name of the company.

The FCC gives these instructions on when to file a complaint:

"Filing a Do-Not-Call Complaint

In addition to complaints alleging violations of the national do-not-call list, you may also file a complaint against a telemarketer who is calling for a commercial purpose (e.g., not charitable organizations) IF:

* The telemarketer calls before 8 AM or after 9 PM; OR
* The telemarketer leaves a message, but fails to leave a phone number that you can call to sign up for their company specific do-not-call list; OR
* You receive a telemarketing call from a company that you have previously requested not call you; OR
* The telemarketing firm fails to identify itself; OR
* You receive a pre-recorded commercial message from someone with whom you do not have an established business relationship and to whom you have not given permission to call you."

So, while websites like this are essential in sharing information about numbers, it is imperative that you contact the FCC and report any and all violations...otherwise, none of these comments will help get rid of the problem.

I just got a call from this number less than 5 minutes ago and I'm in Oregon, but I didn't answer since I didn't recognize the number. It's unbelievable how these people get our cell phone numbers!

Called at about 4:25 p.m. -- on my work cell, which is through Sprint -- and left no message.

I'm in Halifax NS too, on the Rogers network and I have gotten approx. 10 of these calls, they usually come in the morning for me. All the numbers are:

I've googled all these numbers and they seem to be from the same scam. I've never picked up the calls as I don't want long distance charges, and don't know anyone under any of these area codes.

I got the call this morning a little after nine, didn't answer as I didn't recognize the number but they didn't leave a voice mail. I'm in Prince Edward Island Canada and they called me on my cell, found that a little odd but I'm also with Rogers as I noticed someone above was as well, interesting case but glad to have the info on this site! It is 8:22 right now, and this number has gotten me out of bed twice this morning! I have to move the phone from my bedside if this is the BS what's waking me up from my rest! I work until 3 in the morning for christsakes!

Another call in Nova Scotia. It's weird because I haven't even had my phone for a month yet, and the only people who know about it are my parents and my girlfriend. Seems sort of suspicious. My phone is also from Rogers.

yup, NS here... automated system is dialing thru the area codes and numbers no doubt. Mother *@#$er i didnt sign up for the DNC list but i bet my stupid friends put my cell in there after they found out that it gets telemarketer numbers

Calling here from from 6 in the morning until now at 12. They call constantly everyday. Who are they? I don't own a car and there is no live person I can speak with to tell them to stop calling! When I press 1 for customer service thinking I'll get answers, every time they disconnect my call.

I don't know what the deal is with this number. I have been not only getting this number calling my restaurant almost every morning, but I also get this number at home. Just received it this morning just before 7 on my day off. This is getting very annoying!

Also from NS. Received a call from this number but did not answer as I did not recognize the number. These supposed "car warranty," "credit card," and "cruise ship winner" calls are not only becoming more frequent, but a terrible nuisance. They call more often than anyone I know... and I don't even know these people. To top it off, I am not in possession of a credit card and don't even hold a driver's licence.
