Just got a call from that number. Read these messages before so I did not answer. I did sign up for DNC awhile back. Seems like Verizon can't be trusted and is selling our numbers. Won't sign up with Verizon when my contract expires soon!

I cannot believe VERIZON would call a customer at their home, on a land line, WITH NO CALLER ID INFO!!!
In fact, I do not believe it.
SCAM.
Ace-holes.

VerizoWhores. Corporate criminal cacksucking filth.

This came through as yet ANOTHER hang up call when the answering machine answered. Phone ID said "private caller" .... so sure doesn't seem like an official Verizon call.
Nancy 2013-06-05 19:09:36 Unknown
Caller ID showed "private name". The courteous caller claimed to be with Verizon Wireless and just wanted to go over my plan. Two odd things: 1) I don't believe a legitimate business would show up on caller ID as "private name"; 2) Verizon would call my wireless line, not my landline. So exasperated by ever-increasing spam calls.

Didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. The caller ID said "Private Name"

just got a call from this number, 949-286-3884 from 'Irvine, CA'. I didn't answer it as I didn't recognize the number. Not sure if it is still Verizon using that number or not... they didn't leave a message.

I got this call today and I wasn't very sure about it either, but I decided it might be legit... so I played along. The guy was very nice, said he was from Verizon and wanted to review my account to make sure I was on the best plan that would fit our usage. I did not give him any info, but yet he already knew how many lines were on my plan, what plans I am on as well as the average data usage. No one could know that info, except for Verizon. After reviewing the account he said that I was on the best plan for my usage and then that was it. He never asked me for any information and he never tried to sell me anything or tried to get any money. This seems legit and I don't think this is a scam, but if it is a scam then it would be very sophisticated in order not to ask for any money.

I got the same call. They didn't leave a message. I think it's definitely a scam. I have Sprint so if no one from Verizon should even have a reason to contact me about a contract. Don't answer them!!!

They called on our landline 4/10/13 @ 5:12 p.m. PST, and I did not answer bc I did not recognize the number. They did not leave a message on the machine. If it is Verizon, I wonder, why would they call on our landline that is not Verizon (only our cell phones are)? Fishy...

Verizon sells their clients' #s, either willfully or by some of their $6/hr slave workers who have access to that info and who can be bribed into selling it.
This is one reason I refused to sign up for the Do-Not-Call list when it came out. Exactly as I predicted and just one week later, the head of Direct Marketing Association, the outfit responsible for much of the obnoxious telemarketing calls, was caught red-handed paying off Verizon employees to get #s on their DNC. Remember all the complaints from people getting more calls on that list right after they signed up to DNC?

Received a call from this number - similar to other stories posted. When he found out I happened to be on my way to Verizon - He then backed down from his sales pitch and wanted to see if I had the best plan for my family - before we could proceed his computer was frozen and he wanted my email address.... Of course, I said I had to go. Verizon store looked it up and said it was not from Verizon and that the number they called on was not a cell number.

Call came in from this number, young male identified himself as Kevin, from Verizon and wanted to know if I had a few minutes to review my plan. I did not.

I received a call from this number a short time ago (3:27 PM 8/16/12). He asked for me by name, but I could hardly hear him. I finally heard "I'm following up on a service call, I will call back later". I said if he was calling to sell me something please don't call back. He said "OK, have a nice day, and hung up."
A couple of hours earlier, I had contacted Net 10 for a problem with my cell phone, the contact was totally electronic, my carrier for that phone is Verizon.
Based on these parameters, I am assuming it was a legitimate phone call, but if that number shows up again, I won't answer it.
Hope this helps.

I got a missed call from 949-286-3884; no message. After reading posts, I realize it must be a scam

I did not pick up, and they left no message. I am on the Do Not Call list.

lol....omg. Seriously?!? How stupid do they think people are?
Matt 2012-03-30 20:17:54 Unknown
Just received a call from this number, they didn't leave a message. I'm a Verizon customer, so it makes sense that this is either Verizon, or a 3rd party who has access to their customer list. Scam or no scam, I don't give the time of day to unknown callers.
qwerty 2012-03-24 18:03:48 Unknown
Since I don't answer any calls where the number isn't familiar, if they don't leave a message, then the call isn't that important.

Someone called from this number twice, not leaving a message. I called and they are trying to sell sports channel via mobile.

I received to attempted calls to my land line the last two days. NO message left after recorded greeting. So, I call today and heard a partial hacked up greeting message claiming it was Verison. Then call was intercepted by a male voice requesting my phone number. I said, you called me first you should be able tell what number I have. I do have a Verison cell # and a land line #. I would not respond after several attempts he made for my #. I had made the call from my own cell phone. He should have known my phone info anyway.

I checked with Verizon, it was a legitimate call to follow up on a change in service I made.

Just called I answered and they hung up on me!
Darwin 2011-12-21 23:42:31 Unknown
Caller ID says Verizon Wireless. If they are truly VZW, I'd think they'd be calling my VZW phone, not my home phone. I let it go to voicemail, but no msg left.

Received a call from this number claiming to be verizon wireless. Only trouble was the call came to a non-verizon phone line !. They left an 886 number to call back. When I did they answered as if it was Verizon. I called the real Verizon people on my cell phone and they didn't know anything about the earlier call. Some one must have hacked their system as they had some employment info on one of our family members. BEWARE !

Call from third party vendor representing themselves as "VERIZON" although they had clearly just purchased marketing lists from Verizon Wireless, because have had no formal relationship with them for some time.
Initiates call saying "checking on equipment and service", assumed to proceed to upgrade/sell after that.
