1. Never talk to any collection agency or debt help company over a telephone.
2. Never engage with them or admit who you are.
3. Always ask for everything in writing via mail.
4. Always respond to letters with a "FDCPA debt validation letter" sent via certified mail with return receipt.
5. Never lose hope. There's no money in heaven, you will be all right.

It seems now that bill collectors and/or marketers call from their cell phones since people tend to not answer calls from 800 numbers or calls that show up as 000-000-0000.

It has always been my practice not to answer calls if I do not recognize the phone number.  I especially don't answer if the call is coming from California because I don't know anyone in California.

trying to sell you a prscription plan., The next time they call, I am going to watse as much time as possible for them, making them pitch the plan to me 4 or 45 times, then tell them to go f*** themselves.

just got a call from this number too...didn't answer and they left no message...

Call came in at 1:33 PM. No one on the line when I answered.

I got a call from a recording, which is already extremely annoying.  It was pushing a medical discount plan of some kind.  I wanted to scream at a person, so I waited for instructions and pressed 1 to get to someone.  A guy answered and I told him I'd just gotten a call from a recording.  He said, "Oh, well, will that be for an individual, or a family?"  I said, "Well, first of all, it's really annoying to get a call..."  And he interrupted with something like, "Oh that's great." and hung up on me.  I dialed *69 and got the 949-300-6957 number, then tried to call it, but I got a recording saying that the number "is not reachable."  That's it!

Called at 12:45 pm at our business office and it was a recording about medical insurance for as low as $3 per day.  How do you get these annoying calls to stop?

This called me and when I answered it hung up.  Same as the above for it.  Why don't we have something we can submit it to as a engine to make this reported to the FCC or something.  This is really total BS!

Have received calls on my home phone from this number. No msg is left--they've gotten my vm. When I call back it goes to vm, but says vm is full. The man's voice that comes up also for the vm doesn't have a msg, he only says "now". I've tried to txt msg this person also to ask if they're calling my number by mistake. No response. Thought I'd google the # and came upon here...

i just got a call from this number and it was a guy trying to sell me a discount prescription plan. when i asked for him to send me info he said they only do that after you give them your checking account info. when i told him to take me off their list he was very rude and when  i asked to speak to his manager he hung up. so im gonna keep calling him back and harass him all hours of the day  im not working right now so i have plenty of time.

I just got a call on my work number - it shows out of the area.  I do not answer those calls. I know most of my customers numbers and I knew that I don't get any out of the area numbers.  It will show the person's name or the company.  I get so feed up with these calls.
I'm beginning to think I would be better using my cell phone and dropping my work number and home number.
I have gotten to the point that I let all calls go through the VM and then I pick them up and call back if a customer calls.  I do the same with my home number.  Usually on the weekend I unplug my phone because of getting so many stupid hang ups or sales calls.  It gets to be too much.
So then of course I use my cell phone during the weekend.

I just got a call from this number... they didn't speak when I answered, so I ended the call. I have no clue who this is, but after knowing several others have had the same/similar experiences, I won't bother calling back.

I just got the same thing , same number but foolishly push * 69 because they did not leave message on my machine so I typed the number in computer to see where it may lead  and lo and behold I found you with the problem of non-speaking caller from the same exact number.
Guess they didn't like my machine!!

I just received a call from this number too.  No one spoke.  They were probably going to push something on me, but could detect my wrath on the other end and hung up. (Dummies!)

In my caller ID it displays 1-949-300-6957 with the name MAILBOX, no message in my message box.  Do you know?

i JUST set up a new phone number with vonage and i've literally had this number for like 3 days and i got a call from this 949 number.  i wasn't at home so it showed up on my caller id.  no message either.  weird.

9493006957 seems to be a cell phone number in Anaheim, California. I answered the phone but the caller did not talk!

To avoid this type of call, we signed-up with a free anonymous voicemail service.  Twenty four hours later we get our first telemarketing call on that number.  This call was pushing a medical discount service.
