I don't understand why this company called us. They are in Orange County and we are in the midwest. We don't have any reason to be dealing with them. They are just fishing for names/trying to get information. A 30 second google search could give him more information than I am allowed to give out. And it would save us both a lot of time. Cold calling doesn't work anymore.

Your employees need to check the Do Not Call list before calling people.   Obviously they aren't, because they would have found my phone number there.

Receiver of Call,

NMSDATA dba Neilson Marketing Services is a marketing company that specializes in gathering information and setting appointments for insurance agencies.  We often start with Workers Comp X-Dates that are purchased or requested from the state Workers Comp Board.  Sometimes their X-Dates are incorrect, which may be why we had incorrect information.  Alternatively, sometimes we are provided with misinformation and that can be the cause of incorrect renewal dates as well.

My apologies for the inconvenience we caused. I would be happy to discuss this further with you if you would like to do so.

Thanks,
Mike Neilson

Bob,

I'm sorry that had this experience with one of our callers.  We do not train our callers to try these types of tricks or to use "hard sell" methods as they are ineffective and usually cause customer service issues such as the one you're presenting here.

The name of our corporation is NMSDATA.  We do business as Neilson Marketing Services and ProgramBusiness.com.  We have specialized in telemarketing and email marketing in the insurance industry for over 25 years and have represented thousands of agencies across the US and Canada.  Our policy is to address issues such as this head on and use it as a training opportunity for our team if at all possible.  Of course, in extreme cases, other actions are warranted.

As for dogs in the background, we work in an office building in Laguna Hills and there are no dogs so that may have been other background noise such as music that you heard.  We'll certainly take that into consideration though and ensure that we keep any background noise to a minimum.

Finally, we have 2 T1 lines and have had some issues in the past with our voicemail system.  My apologies if that made it difficult for you to reach out to us to inform us of this problem.  In the future, you can contact me directly at (949) 472-2713.  That is my direct line.

Thanks,
Mike Neilson

Annie,

First off, I'm sorry that you had such a negative experience with one of our callers.  As you mention, that is unacceptable and we would never condone such language or tone being used by our callers.

The name of our company is NMSDATA, Inc. dba Neilson Marketing Services, dba ProgramBusiness.com. We are a call center that specializes in making calls on behalf of insurance agencies, MGAs, Wholesalers and Carriers in the US and Canada. We have been in business for 25 years and take the utmost care to address customer service issues swiftly and effectively.

If you would like to discuss this matter in more detail, I would be happy to do so. By providing me the name of your company and phone number, I would be able investigate the call and take further action to ensure other customers do not have a similar experience.  Again, please accept my apology on behalf of the caller.  I look forward to and hope for the opportunity to address this matter with you.

Thanks,
Mike Neilson

Obviously the actual caller is scamming. Recipients of these calls can't really be sure who is calling them.
It's way too easy to spoof one's phone number and obviously, any caller  who won't properly identify themselves, leave a real call back number and message can't be trusted. I think many of us have turned into sheep who are too willing to provide information or to assume that the caller is legitimate. I have received numerous calls from the captioned number and they will never leave a message.

Don't get scammed.

Just called here, asked to speak with the person in charge of the company's insurance.
Property, liability and auto. " I see your policy is due for renewal in Oct "

Told her you would have to call the corporate office for that.

Do you have the number?    No, I don't, this is the warehouse.
Said she would call back another time.

(Our policy is "renewed" in January. I don't know where she got October from. )

Just another cold call telemarketer.

Received a call from this number, when they asked for someone by name that retired FOUR YEARS AGO...I politely told them that, and then he asked for "the decision maker for marketing plans" .  I got about half-w thru my normal "thank you for calling but we're not interested in marketing plans, we get more business than we can handle on referrals" and he interrupted me saying (in a rude tone)  "WELL IF YOU'D LET ME FINISH......"  I didn't hear the rest.  I interrupted him back saying "IF YOU'D LET ME FINISH -- REMOVE US FROM YOUR CALLING LIST".

No patience for stupid people that interrupt and can't listen.

This company is a fraud.  One line and plenty of voicemail boxes (with dogs barking in the background).

They ask for the HR, or Sales people as if they are a customer, then they try the hard sell poaching.

Hey morons, our front desk is waiting for your next call.

It's time for you idiots to go back on the unemployment line where you belong.

Your twitter ID and facebook ID are private?????

You wrote: "Phone numbers associated with businesses are not subject to DNC Registry laws"

True, but wouldn't the success rate of your cold calls rise if you utilized the national do-not-call registry?  Seems to me you're at a competitive disadvantage to those who do.

"We run a business that has been doing business... for 25 years."

That's all well and good.  But I hope it doesn't mean you're not open to improvement....?

@jd Desiree is no longer employed here.  She was calling on behalf of a customer of ours who was trying to solicit agency owners of small to medium size independent agencies who wanted to sell their books of business to Farmers.  The intention was in no way to poach any producers or sales people from any of the agencies we were calling.  Desiree took it upon herself to attempt this and was later dismissed for a variety of rogue actions while calling on behalf of our customers.  Our company has long prided itself on our transparency and our ability to provide quality leads and appointments to the insurance agencies and companies who use our services.  We try to address issues such as this swiftly and expediently as not to permit any long term damage to occur to our reputation or that of our customers.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this caused you or your agency.

Sincerely,
Mike Neilson

New Horizon,

I'm not sure why you would post my Twitter ID or my Facebook ID on a public forum.

Our company called your phone number because it was on a list of businesses provided to us by Dunn & Bradstreet.  It was on that list because at some point there was a business associated with that phone number.  Phone numbers associated with businesses are not subject to DNC Registry laws.  However, once we are requested to remove a phone number from our list, we do so promptly.

My apologies if we harassed you in any way and as far as my recollection of the situation is concerned, we promptly removed you from any list in our database that contained your phone number.

We run a business that has been doing business to business telemarketing on behalf of insurance agencies and insurance companies for 25 years.  I would have appreciated the same level of respect we gave you when we promptly removed your name from our list.  It is never our intention to harass, we are merely trying to generate leads for insurance sales people.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please contact me directly.

Thank you,
Mike Neilson

I am a business owner I do not know anyone from this company and they always pretend I talked to them or they are going to be in my area. I do not have the time or energy to deal with them. I hate telemarketers. Thank God for caller id, I have started a list of  numbers not to answer since they never leave a message.

These people are headhunters trying to recruit your employees. Desiree calls and pretends she is a potential customer just to get the sales person on the phone. Then ask them if they would want to become a Farmers Insurance Agent. What a joke!!!

NMS ( Neilson Marketing Services ) called on behalf of a local insurance company offering employee benefits.

The Twitter ID of the VP of Operations at NMS is @nms_mike and at FaceBook, it's lmichaelneilson.  This is the guy who acknowledged my do-not-call request Emailed to support@NMSDATA.com.

I'm betting the insurance company is paying NMS for the calls made to numbers that are also in the national DNC list.

You seem to be very angry.  You must be mad at of your mere existence.  Does it really hurt you to listen for a few seconds about an offer?  It's not that big of a deal.  You must be a 9 to 5 kind of person who does the same kind remedial work for the past 20 years.  Making less than 60K per year.  You are the loser, not the Telemaketer.  At least, they have the cajones to try and improve their lives.

Just remember this, everyone must sell something at one point or the other.  How do you think you got your current remedial job?
