This number is from a "company" that calls people at random to see if someone answers using a variety of aliases or reason for calling. If someone answers, they place your number in a database of numbers which are sold to other companies as legitimate phone numbers. If you don't answer, they can not add your number to their database because the status of the number is unavailable. Long story short - do not answer any calls from this area code.

Do be cautious - there are several companies doing tthe same thing from a variety of area codes. Bottom line, don't answer your phone unless you know who it is. Sad statement about life in today's world. Everything about you is for sale somewhere - even your phone number.

The number from the caller ID was 949-748-7530.

A lady called from this number asking for the owner of our business by name.  She never said who she was or why she was calling, but was congenial.
