The following is the email I received from Mr. Redmond indicating they are willing to start with deceptive tactics...

You do not know me, but I have heard of you.

I was attempting to get a hold of your regarding business purposes.

Unfortunately, you wont return my calls, and I cannot even think of a reason why you would not.

Your in business right.

If your open to helping someone out like myself, return my calls.

Apparently they change their number and are now using 951-977-3764.  We received multiple calls from Elliott Redmond, he was trying to contact the owner of the company and he was very rude and aggressive, saying he could not talk to any one else but him because it was an urgent, personal and confidential matter. After several failed attempts he started to lie, saying he was returning the owner's call, or that he was calling regarding the email the owner had sent him, after none of his lies worked he tried talking to us about the phone number Service Magic advertises, and how he had SO many clients trying to reach us.  He was still rude and arrogant about it, talking down to people in our office.

obviously written by a representative of the e-local company. c'mon people, is this an indication of the professionalism your company represents - to lie and deceive others for your personal gain?

Received a call yesterday 951-972-8028 from Tara Gibson. Called sales rep back today, left a message. So, don't know about if they badger or not.

Got called back, 951-541-0380, by a sales manager, Elliott Redmond, (ext 7042). He started talking about how we were using Service Magic, and the downsides in comparison. Little bit of usual sales spiel, but got thru to the point.

I usually interrogate cold calls and marketing people pretty hard, and I've tried to learn what's what with most of the "packages" that are out there. Elliott, seemed pretty knowledgeable. These guys seemed to have a good background; CEO from the old Lycos search service.

Services seemed pretty decent, if they deliver. Not like Service Magic, they're more like the YellowBook and AT&T Web advertising services -- except a heck of a lot cheaper, with a few additions or better execution.

Keep in mind, if you're already using either of these, or have an SEO (search engine optimization) you may be duplicating functionality, maybe not quality.

They do want credit card info to start your service. Again, I am usually a very big skeptic, but I feel safe in this one. Plus, no longer doing AT&T ads and my Yellowbook web ads don't seem to be getting me to the front page in Google.

I'll be trying their "Fast Found Premium" service out starting 2/20/09 -- $79 setup/1st month, then $89/month.

currently i'm hoping to improve our placement on Google, we're not even on the first 10 pages (not sure how deep we are)

We got called from these guys too, e-Local Listings, over a holiday weekend. They are obviously desperate. The message went something like, "Dude! Dude! You need to have people there when I call for business! Obviously a mom & pop, one-person shop. Dude!"

You would think for a marketing business that targets mom & pop businesses they wouldn't hire people that have such disdain for an American businessman trying to run a respectable business.

My company recieved a call from elocal.  The caller gave it her best shot, but i was just not interested.  I use to just be rude and hang up, but then one day I realized, um... don't I do the same thing with the two business I own.  I love it when I run into business owners with larger than life NO SOLICITING signs, or who are completely rude when they get sales calls.  Imagine where your business would be if every prospect you had closed the door in your face, or was just plain rude and hung up on you.  It's sales baby :) What goes around comes around so keep on being rude.  I can't seem to rember the last sucessful business I came across that did not have to sale something to someone or provide a service of some kind, hmm.... pretty sure you had to convince someone to use you or buy from you.

That was correct. Our company eLocal Listing does have access to potential clients looking for services in your area. They search through Yahoo and Google, and my company takes key phrases like massage therapist, and other modalities that people search when they're looking for a massage. why are they gonna drive out of the city if they are looking for someone nearby. People don't realize that sure you may be spending money for advertising, but don't you have to spend money to make money. and plus, all funds used for advertising are written off at hte end of the year, so it's not like your'e really losing that money. It never hurts to give something a try.

My office received a call from a female from this number.  She stated she was from an out-of-state PI firm that had clients in my area (I am a PI).  They wanted certain personal info from me so they could provide it to their clients.  I hung up as you cannot-snow-the-snowman.

I received a phone call/message from a woman asking if I were taking on more personal training clients and if so, to call her back.  I did not call back due to the above listing.

Received a call on answering machine from Jay Jones stating that his company has access to clients who are currently looking for massage therapist.  Stated that is I could handle any more business to call him @ 866-585-1715 extension 6023.  Caller id showed phone number for Elocal listings @ 951-240-5835?  Assume it is some kind of marketing company looking for people to pay for listings?

had a phone call from 951-240-5835 to my office line which is forwarded onto my mobile phone.  The woman said that she is calling from E-Local and want to know if my business cleans residential and commercial carpet.  I said said yes and the woman then proceeded to ask me if I want to take on more business.  I said as long as what you are going to offer me is free I am more than happy to talk to you. If you bring up any monetary amount then we are going to have a issue.  I am not going to pay a penny for anything.  She then hung up.
