Is this a form of cyber bullying (I would say so).  Is there anything that Unions can do to stop this kind of site spreading - surely it is unhelpful to us as a profession - is there a rate my dentist / supermarket cashier site??  I think more should be done about this site as it has personal details - name / work place on the internet.  You would swear we are A List celebs LOL

If each teacher takes a turn at monitoring the site and putting on positive ratings each day for a week then the damaging ratings are greatly diluted. There is little quality control by the owners who are making a mint from advertisers.

No one knows who is putting on ANY of the comments, just as no-one knows which TES posters are staff in schools or not!

Obviously ratemyteacher is cyberbullying of the worst kind, anonymous and spiteful. As teachers we would never dream of trying to comment on our pupils' behaviour, work ethos etc in such a manner. Regardless of all those who try to defend it, it is not usually honest hardworking, motivated pupils who take the time to grace this website. Unfortunately it also appears to be condoned by the wider population and could also be seen as an indication of how the profession at large is regarded. As onewelshlad states there do not seem to be any such sites for other professions/occupations e.g. ratemydoctor/lawyer etc. However it is my experience (and that of my colleagues) that the more publicity this website gets, either from teachers' complaints or from the unions, the more it is used by those with a grudge and inadequate social skills. It is hard but the best we can do is really to try to ignore it or do as the other poster has suggested if you can be bothered. There are specific types of comments that will be removed by the site administrators if you complain.

The Criminal Code of Canada strictly prohibits persons in authority to partake in sexual acts with persons under 18 years of age (nothwithstanding the age of consent in Canada is 16 according to updated legislation).

Female child molesters target young boys significantly more often than girls, but sometimes in the case of Vivian Mavrou, she is reported to have used dirty words to female students . Female perpetrators often solicit sex from young boys and girls using money, drugs, blackmail or force.

The case of Vivian Mavrou being caught with a student in her vehicle is considered an illegal act, yet the Toronto District School Board took the matter lightly and transferred this controversial Vice Principal to Martingrove Collegiate Institute, thereby increasing the risk of abuse on the students of the said school.

But we?ve always known that female pedophilia is the most under-reported type of child molestation since the Toronto District School Board fails to publicly talk about the crimes or report the crimes to the police. So who knows how many are really out there teaching at the Toronto schools and molesting children?

Vivian Mavrou is an example of a failed rule of law in the public sector. Former Chair, Chris Spense and Chris Bolton, the chair of the TDSB, are complacent in promoting pedophilia and child abuse in Toronto schools.

Parents, would you allow a sex predator to teach your children? Do you think the TDSB is a respectable organization which has the interest of the students at hand? Think again.

A confidential informant confided that the TDSB is seeking the services of a lawyer to prepare and send subpoenas and cease and desist notices to websites which contain comments about Vivian Mavrou?s sexual act with a minor at Silverthorn Collegiate Institute. This violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

I was informed about Vivian Mavrou?s illegal act after students were complaining to me that Vivian Mavrou is a sex offender who evaded prosecution. Meanwhile, thousands of teaching graduates and thousands of teachers cannot find full time teaching jobs, but child molesters like Vivian Mavrou are allowed to teach high paying positions at the TDSB! What disrespect this is to the law-abiding teachers who deserve a promotion and/or full time teaching jobs!

Vivian Mavrou and the Toronto District School Board are an insult to the rule of law, democracy and freedoms of Canada.

Its a telemarketing group, Pacific Monarch Resorts, they get your number at fairs, malls, theaters, etc. There is usually a display with a car, bike, ATV/UTV or SeaDoo and they have entry forms you fill in with your name and contact number. If you read the back carefully you are giving permission for those people to sell your information to the resort company to call and try to get you to attend an information meeting. Usually some annoying lady calls - they don't leave messages until they confirm its your phone number. When they do confirm they will call and leave messages non-stop that you've won some type of miracle prize and you will lose it if you do not respond. They want you to attend a presentation to buy timeshares, that is all. You have not actually won anything...I asked flat out and they said I "may have", but won't know until the end of the presentation. What they usually give out is some crappy door prizes related to their business...T-shirts, cups, mugs, stress balls, etc. Its a waste of time, I asked the lady to stop calling or guarantee in writing that I won the grand prize and they kept calling - she even got upset and said that if I don't want her to call then I should not be entering drawings...I told her fair enough and advised her that I was taping the call for my complaint / lawsuit. She immediately hung up and hasn't called back.

I got a call from them on my cell today and looked up the number.  It's Pacific Monarch Resorts in Riverside, CA.  Probably just cold calling.
