Debt Collector
I have received two phone calls from a number 951-271-8814, that is identifying themselves as Worldwide Assets Recovery.  On the first call, it went on to say they had an important message for me (personally) and to call them back regarding my case with a summons that was being served & filed a.s.a.p.  (or something to that effect)...  In my worry as to what in the world this could be, I returned the call to find it was for a friend of mine.  I was totally treated beliigerently by somebody claiming to be a Solicitor and asked that my personal phone number NOT be used again to contact the friend of mine.  Today, March 25, 2014, I have received another call from Worldwide Assets Recovery and a woman named Maria asking for my friend again and "claiming that the person they were calling for had given them my number and said it was their home #?"  This will be my first step in stopping harassing phone calls to my personal cell phone number.  At no time or under any circumstances would my friend give out my personal cell phone # as his home #....  This is an outright lie made up by extremely verbally abusive individuals with this company. I have stated, on both occasions, these person(s) are not to call my personal cell phone number again.  Thank you.

This company called me 5min ago. Was telling me all sorts of information. I simply called and said I was told to call and they magically guessed my name. I informed him that I did not know of the debt he was speaking of and that id like proof sent to me. He proceeded to yell at me that I needed to stop lying and pay my bills.

These a**holes are as arrogant as the day is long.  They've called the wrong # in a very threatening manner & stated that if I didn't like it I could tell the Judge as they're filing court documents.  Are these Obozo''s minions from the NSA or the IRS?  They make it sound like bullets will rain on my house if I don't give them info on the person they're trying to find.  Welcome to the New USA!

I got a call from this people not even 10 min ago. Funny though, they are trying to locate my boyfriend, but using the property address as bait to get me to call them back. She said, "this matter pertains to {boyfriend} and the property located at { address}. " He doesn't own this house, I do. His name is no where on the deed. Then as the call goes on, she gets threatening, " if you do not respond to this call within 24 hrs, we will close this matter concerning {address} and it will be considered final!"
So, if this is a debt collector, you guys probably called the one person who doesn't give a s*** and challenges you to show up at my home with any threats of taking my property or liening it with a debt not owed by the owner!.This type of phone call from a debt collector should be liable for lawsuit of harassment! I recieved a call from this number and they are now known as World Wide Asset Recovery. I refused to verify anything but my name so they told me to have my attorney contact them. I called back 12 times to get an address becuase you have a right to communicate by mail rather then phone with a creditor. FYI: If you write them a certified trackable letter asking that they not contact you again, it is considered harrassment if they do under 15 USC 1692c. I finally got the "Director of Operations" on the phone since the other people kept hanging up on me without actually answering the phone or they would place me on hold. I recorded the call (of which I advised the "director" since some states require two party recording notification). The "director" refused to give me their address and the "director" becuase angry and began insulting me. I was very calm and actually enjoyed the idea that I was making him as angry as his people make thousands of others every day. I actually ended the phone call myself after saying "have a good day" in a very patronizing way similar to the way they do leaving people upset. What an empowering experience. He wants me to get an attorney...hmmm maybe I should be one then he'd still have to talk to me. He wouldnt get any further that way either. ;o)

Debt Collector
I have been getting calls from Mike Conners at World Wide and associates for around three months now. He said that he had made many attempts to contact me, but i had no record of any attempt prior to that voicemail. After a few weeks of him calling I answered the phone. He had my full name, my old address my social security number (!) and the place he said he was calling on behalf of is really a place (the only place) that I actually am in debt with. He talked to me about a settlement for the debt that I could make payments on. He offered to send me paperwork about the debt and so i gave him my current address. I told him that I would have to see if it was possible for me to do it, to send me the paperwork and I would get back to him. He continued to call almost every day for two weeks after that and when I called him back he was very rude and threatening! I'm in my early 20's so I have no idea if that is how debt collectors really are or not. I told him that there was no way that I could do any form of payment to just file the debt for his client. I mentioned that I had never received the paperwork and that being the case was not about to send them a check. That's when he told me that they only accept credit cards!!! I told him no way to just file the debt. He became very rude and shouted at me that it was going to destroy my credit, but he would be filing that afternoon. I hung up. About 3 weeks went by when all of a sudden I got a call from him yesterday. He left me a voicemail saying, " this is Bob- MIKE, Mike conners at World Wide and Associates. I know that when I had spoken with you before you told me that there was no way that you could take care of this debt, but I have new information that you need to know about in regards to a new settlement offer."

I'm worried! This guy clearly slipped up today and gave me a different first name then the one he usually used when he left me messages and then quickly corrected himself. He is suddenly contacting me again after telling me a month ago that he was filing the claim.

Is this a scam?? He has ALL of my personal information! How would he get it if he wasn't a debt collector? Please, if someone could help me and give me some advice I would be very grateful! I will check back here often!

Back to what the forum really is about-sorry Every1- they called and left a VM regarding one of my daughters. I called back and politely stated that I received a call regarding my daughter and want to be removed from their call list. I said that she does not even live in the same city as me, so please remove me. He started yelling, and I do mean yelling, "that's not possible! Where's your daughter?!" I was able to finally say that I am not responsible for her and stop calling me. He again started bellowing and said, "THAT's not going to happen! You're withholding legal information?! Where's your daughter?!" I hung up on him. The idiot called me back about 2 minutes later!! I noticed the #, picked up the phone and said, "Hello again!" He started bellowing again," Well, lady, you think you are just going to get irate with me and HANG UP on me?!!" I said, "You know what? This is harrassment; I'm calling the phone company." As I was hanging up, he was declaring, "Lady you called ME!"
Uh, who made the initial call? Am I legally responsible for any adult child's actions? Am I suppossed to be harrassed by a collection agency over my daughter's debts? Am I supposed to have gotten that "Well lady..." callback after stating I wanted removed? Exactly. Which is why I am reporting them for telephone harrassment and to the state attorney generals office in my state and in California. I DO have a legal background, a B.S. degree in criminal justice and associate degree in law enforcement. I am also a legal business writer. If they harrass you for bills that are now yours or fail to provide evidence of your own debt as many of you say they have, report them.

"Taking your money," you're an idiot! We do NOT have to pay bills that do NOT show up on our credit record-you sound like the guy who just called me about debt of my daughter's, who lives in another city and I am NOT responsible for her debt!@ Debt collectors are FAR more shady than some of our government officials so get off the political platform! That is NOT what this forum is about! We try to help each other determine who called us and why.
So go on back to work now making more calls to us for bills we either do not know about, as is very obvious in this thread or for grown relatives for whom we are NOT responsible for! For you to tell people to just "pay your bills" shows how smug you are! There are many debt collectors who have been successfully sued and shut down for their illegal actions. So make sure you take that into consideration next time you want to leave ridiculous comments like you did on May 9th!

John, from "World Wide and Associates" (Caller ID said Fellowship Financial) said he was calling about a financial obligation that had gone to collections...for me..and asking if I wanted to settle the debt.  I said I had never heard of the bank in question and have never had a bad debt.  He then told me the date of birth of the person they were looking for...not even in the same decade as me.  He apologized and said he would not call back.  Obviously just doing internet searches and calling any number they find.

I received a call from Todd Shaw from this number and asked him to repeat his name and give me his number.  He implied that I owed thousands of dollars to HSBC and Citibank and he wanted to know what I was doing to resolve this before they served me at my office - call came to my office.  He had my middle initial wrong, my birthdate, my SSN and town(s) I lived in.  I did not offer the correct information as I was suspicious.  He said "he would inform his investigators they had the wrong person and I would never hear from him again".

To continue, if a company calls, and has your name, social, address, and phone number, you SHOULD  be concerned as to what they are calling about. Obviously they have your info and if it was a fraud company, then you should be deeply concerned and look further into it. IE contacting the original creditor to confirm that company is the one that holds all rights, title, and interest. SECOND creditors DO NOT have to state on your Credit Bureau that you owe on a debt. They have to pay the credit company to make it show up on you CBR, so just because it is not there does not mean the debt does not exist. Its simple, get proof. Once you have, pay your bills. Someone above claims our country is 'just fine'. I have never laughed so hard in my life! Our country is not fine, and people saying they can pay bills they know they never will, is one things that makes it worse. So simply get as much information from the company thats calling you as possible. If you claim to not owe a debt then show proof. If you dont think you will face legal action, then sit back, do nothing, and whatever happens happens.

I have received about five of these calls in the last few weeks. They state a return call needs to be made by me or my attorney taking care of this issue. If not they are moving forward with wage garnishment. They do not reference what this is about only a fake file number. I have looked at my credit report and there is nothing on there with a significant amount to indicate they would go to these lengths. A couple of utility bills i am paying off and that is it. These guys are scammers! Do NOT give them any money! They told me original documents would be in the mail, I have seen nothing. The economy is not in a mess because people do not pay their debts, the economy is in a mess because we have a president who gives our money away when we have none and takes a vacation every other week!

Our country is just fine. And getting better by the minute. Of course, it would be alot better off if we could get rid of all the low-life scum-bags that have been forced into working for fraudulent debt collectors. Now those dead-beat ex-cons and drug addicted alcoholics are a real detriment to our country. Once they've all been outsourced to India we'll be sitting pretty. We'll still have to figure out what to do with them though. They can't get real jobs. They can't pass drug tests or background checks. I guess they'll all just have to go back to the projects or the streets where they came from.
Oh well, they've been sucking off the tax paying people with real jobs anyway. It won't make much difference to us one way or the other. They're nothing but parasites now, and they'll be nothing but parasites when they're living off our tax money either.
Now go back to your burrow rodent! You're a debt collector pal! You won't be finding anyone lower than you are here.
