I got a call/voice message from phone number 951-322-3360. It was from some idiot who said his name was Alan Johnson, this person could barely speak English properly and he said he was calling from the state attorney office in California. When I returned the call, another man with an accent answered claiming to be a Curtis O?Conner an attorney; he also had an accent of Middle East descendant. Now I?m not the smartest guy in the world but I spoke with two people who tried to get me to believe they had common American names but sounded ridiculously foreign. When I questioned the identity of the caller, he hung up on me and when I tried to call back, no one would pick up the phone. They never got to the part of sending the Sheriff to my house but that would have been funny because I am an Officer at the Sheriff?s Department in my County. What was disturbing was the fact that they knew the last four numbers of my social and my address. There is going to be some focusing on these individuals to bring them to justice!!

I am receiving numerous phone calls from this number alleging that I have committed some kind of internet fraud against a loan company.  The caller states that I applied for a $300 cash advance loan that was deposited in my account and the company want the money returned. I have threatened to report the caller to FBI authorities but they keep calling.  Just this am I have received 8 calls, and in the past week probably about 30 other calls.  At this time I am contacting my state attorney general's office and FBI authorities.  Also, because these people have my personal information i.e. SS#, banking acct info I am notifying my bank of this & putting a fraud alert on my accounts.

They left messages saying they are going to contact the local Sheriffs office. They have my Address and my husband work address and phone number. He says his name is Brian Black.

I was at a movie yesterday and someone from this number called me 19 times and left 13 messages in the course of a 90 minute movie. I called them back they said they were the attorney general and said I was going to be arrested within 25 minutes for not paying back a $300 payday loan. I laughed at him and said "whatever" and he said I messed with the wrong guy blah blah blah and I finally hung up. Now today I am at work and I checked the caller id and he called he yesterday 30 times. Really? Why is there nothing that can be done about someone harrassing a person like this and claiming to be an attorney general?

Got a phone call this morning from this number. The guy said he was from the California States attorney's office (which is closed today for the federal holiday Veteran's Day). He said that I had initiated a pay day loan online and when his client (whom he could not devulge)went to to take the loan back out of my account they weren't able to so I was being charged with fraud. He has all of my personal info but had my last name wrong and claims I have a bank acct. With First California Bank (I live in South Carolina). He asked me for my attorney's information (I don't have one). He stated that he was going to send police officers to my place of employment (I am currently unemployed). After he figured out that I wasn't going to send him money or get upset he became very angry and started swearing at me. This is a SCAM. I will be calling the actual California States Attorney's office tomorrow to report this matter.

Yea I just recently received a call from this guy, and he was telling me to send him money as well and he wouldn't press charges on me. He wouldn't give me any information about the company he was regarding but he did claim to be the California state attorneys office. He claimed I had a loan and it was due that day and if u paid him he wouldn't take legal action against me, I instantly knew it was a scam because I gave no loans! So after tryin to get some info out if him he gets mad, so i asked him if he was scamming me and hangs up. He had harassed me all day at my job and on my cell. After that he wouldn't answer any of my calls or if they did, cuz there is more than 1 of them their, but he didn't try to call back. So I waited a day and called back and they put him on the phone, and he immediately said what do you want, and I asked what was going on and told him that I had contacted the police and he instantly got pissed and read all my info off to me and said he was going to ruin me. I also filed a report on this number, but he's in California and I'm on the east coast. But I searched his number on the map and got the add

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

Same story as Cindy's ... only worse. I answer the phones at my office and knew immediately this "Jeff Anderson" was a scam as soon as he said he was from the state atty office and wanted to talk to my supervisor. I asked him politely if he knew how many laws he was violating calling me at work. He got rather irked and demanded I let him talk to my supervisor. When I refused he got angrier, literally yelling at me to get my supervisor. I just hung up. He called back, I hung up. He called back again and I hung up again ? an easy 15 to 20 times. Then EVERY SINGLE LINE on my office system lit up! Tell me again how he's from the State Atty Office? Said he was going to keep calling me until I called his supervisor, Curtis Jackson at this number.

Since I was at work, I quickly called my husband to see if he could find out what this was all about. Evidently he was a little less polite than I had been. I get another call from this "Jeff" asking me who this man was that called and abused his supervisor and who gave him the right to do that?!? I told him it was probably my husband and the man says "Give me his number so I can call that bast**d! If he can give abuse he can take it!"

State Atty Office? Riiiiight.

Unfortunately he kept calling - and if it had been my phone I?d just let him have fun talking to my voicemail. But since this was my job, I told him I'd call this Curtis guy, who answered the phone "California State Atty General Office, Atty Curtis Jackson speaking." So how many laws did he violate in that one sentence?

Same story as Cindy's - same "charges" filed against me. He asked "You aren't aware of these charges? The sheriff didn't contact you last week?" Nope, must have missed that visit. He said the sheriff would be at my office to pick me up, I said OK and he hung up. Essentially I bit my tongue until it bled, let him go through his speach and just acted like it was no big deal. Trust me, it would have been more grafying to let him know what I really thought of him.

So far, no more calls. Maybe he figured their scam wasn't going to scare me and they've moved on to some other poor soul. The problem is they know they can't be touched. They're not in California, they're not even in the country, so they don't care. That's the part that makes me furious - not that they tried to scam me, but they that they can get away with it and someone kinder and more trusting than I, will be victimized by them.

Already filed a report with the REAL Atty Gen office - it's easy to do online and it's the only way we have of fighting back and hopefully stopping them before they frighten some poor old lady out of her social security checks.

This number called me as well and a foreign speaking person claimed to be with the California State Attorney's office.   I could not confirm if this number is legit but several people claim to have received harrassing calls from the office.  I can't believe that a "state attorney's" office would act like that ever.   I'm sure it's got to be a collection agency or a scam.   I am planning on contacting the Cali State Attorney's office in LA at some point to report these creeps.

It's someone calling as part of an internet scam. They are going to say that you owe money and that you'll need to pay or they will take legal action against you. I had to file a police report because they have compromised all of my personal information.

Got a call today at my place of work from a man that gave me this number to call and speak to a Curtis Jackson regarding charges filed by the State Attorneys office against me. When I called the number another man rattled of 3 charges that he said were being filed against me. "theft, check fraud, and violation of federal regulations". Neither of the men spoke very clear english and I had a very difficult time understanding him, which made him very irritated with me. They were both extremely rude, kept threatening me and asking me for personal information as well as money to "settle this debt." When I told him that there was no way I'm going to send anyone money for a debt I didn't owe, he said "ok, thats fine. I will be sending the Sherriff to your place of bussiness within an hour to arrest you. Make sure you tell the Sherriff that you spoke to Curtis Jackson and are not willing to settle this matter. You will need an attorney and are going to spend 9 months in jail." And hung up on me. The only thing that made me nervous is he did have some of my info; my name, social security number, name of my employer, my work phone number and email address.

These people have called my cellphone and work number several times today harassing me.  First of all, the guy did not speak good english so I could not understand a word that he was saying.  He kept asking me personal information that no one should give out over the phone.  I told him that if he called me again that I was going to call the police.  He called back being smart saying "just call the police".  I do not who these people are, but they need to be investigated.
