Call from craigslist dealing with a transaction of a fraudulent check.   The routing numbers and account numbers were reversed.   Amanda Brown was the name used along with the number 903-634-7092.  Stay away! !!

I got the same message as above, I am selling a car and I got an e-mail from Amanda Brown saying that she will pay the full price for the car and told me that she will send a cashiers check or certified check.  I thought that this looked a little weird when I saw the phone number (951) 708-0106 since I do not do out of state sales and it is a good thing that I looked up the number online before going any further with this.  Thanks everyone this helped me alot!!!

Same thing happened to me--got a reply to a Cragslist post and thought it looked sketchy.  I'm glad I investigated.

I have to stop posting on CL. Every response is a scam.

Same thing happened to me with this number but under the name of Amanda Brown.  Easy to tell it was a scam.

Same thing, the number responded to a Craigslist add with the exact same verbiage. Once I said cash only they wanted my Paypal info. Be careful.

Exact situation happen to me with this person they have strung me along for 9 days.  Thought it seemed odd, I gave them my email address and mailing address hopefully all will be ok and their not a identity thief.

I am a police officer and this is a scam - I have worked many cases reporting similar modus operandi (a method of doing something).  The certified checks they send are counterfeit you are out hundreds or thousands of dollars.  Remember - If something seems to good to be true - it is!  No one gives you something for nothing - they always want something.  Cease contact with these people and block the number through your service provider if you have to because they are persistant.  If they contacted you through email, block them as spam and change the passwords on your email to be safe.  You can also file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center at https://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx.

I posted ad on craigslist for item for sale. Received a Tex message at 3:40 am from someone interested. Thought it was odd but replied that the item was still for sale. "Janie" replied back stating that she wanted to pay through a bank certified check so I could have my cash in hand before shipping the item to her.then stated that she needed my full name and address and NOT po box to mail! Also that extra 20.00 would be included for shipping. I googled the phone number and turns out it's a scam and has happened to several people with the same phone number and verbiage. Phone numbers in question:951-708-0106..913-428-9364!

No call but received text in response to craigslist ad i had posted.  Said name was jainie walker and would send me a certified cashiers check and pay an extra 20 for holding the item until i received the check.  Claimed to be 100% real and legit.  I said, " if its not cash its not legit."  Then no response..
