I know it's tough out there for everyone right now and people are having a hard time paying their bills. Collections Agencies are held to extreemly strict guidelines about who they call and what information they can leave. If you can't simply identify yourself, they can't say anything to you. All these agencies want to do is ask you to pay for a debt that you owe. Making rediculus comments like "I almost paid someone elses bill" just make you look like an idiot. Why would you pay a bill that you know is not yours. Simply let them know that they are calling the wrong number and move on with life. Stop making debt collectors out to be terrible people. It's a tough job, and someone has to do it because there are dead beats out there that rack up credit with absolutley no intention of paying it back. Next time you want to bash a bill collector... look in the mirror and ask yourself if you deserve to give someone a hard time about a bill you didn't pay.

These people have called me 4 times in the last 24 hours.  I even got a note that was put in  my mailbox saying "Please Call, Important".  Are they a collection agency trying to collect something against us or are they trying to get us to hire them for a collection we have against someone else?

2011 feb 22 idk if this blogs questions were answered or solve but I am getting texts and call from a similar number and I happen to know it is not a collection company.  I first received a text about a week ago from a number that either started with 710 or 951 710 XXXX.  I swear in my text inbox it started with 710 which seems impossible since that is a government area code number which is weird.  More or less what was said in it was "someone is has just called or will call the cops/police... be careful w/e watch out" something like that.  I did not open the text and deleted basically right there.  I will say again I am positive the text number started with 710.  Earlier before that and after I realized I was getting called by numbers like 951 710... 951 is a CA number around Perris/ Riverside, and I think 9510 710 is the sheriff?s department in this area.  Furthermore 951 710 XXXX makes a little more sense however I did receive a text starting with 710 that I know was in the same area. Why would police warn me that they are going to call me from a text? 710 is a gov number too how is it that I got a text from that? in addition i am getting calls from 951 940 6888

People...you complain to your state and federal reps about how your privacy is being violated by collection agencies trying to collect an outstanding debt and then complain that the collection agency has to play by the rules your reps established.  If you are not who they are looking for, do everyone a favor and tell them - they will stop calling and you can stop being annoyed.  If you are the person who owes the debt, pay it - stop complaining about it.  Read the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.  It states clearly what a collection agency can and cannot do.  If they do break the law, sue them.  If not, don't be angry that you got caught.

Really a***ole?  I have excellent credit, zero debt and therefore don't owe anybody a f****ng thing.  If they want money they need to do their itty bitty homework better and call the people who actually do owe them.  If they call me again, I am going to report them for harassment.

I feel sorry for anyone who is employed as a collection agent.  They are all people who give up on their dreams.  A life of ordinary, unexciting existence awaits the rest of their lives.

Got a dozen messages on my personal phone, from a Mr. White.  "Joe this is Mr. White, please return my call, as it is very important that you call me."

I don't usually get or return unsolicited calls where the message doesn't explain WHY they are calling. Also irked me that he calls me Joe (never met or spoked to him) but refers to himself as MR!!!

As far as I know I owe nothing--- would have gotten a bill!

You state that you worked for this Company, even go into detail commenting on FED LOANS, then you end by telling people to "man up", and calling them loser...Your reply say's a lot about the type of proffessionals this company hires...Or is this the reason you "USED" to work for this comp.

A***oles google your name and assume there calling the right person. Like 2 people can't have the same name. Now that I've proved them wrong they won't answer the phone, sounds like they don't like being harrsed either. I almost paid someone elses bill. The dumb f**** should really get their facts straight before they think they're right, especially "Patrick" and "Drew" in the "Legal" department.

These stupid f**** from JM A***oles googled my # and called me at work. Had the wrong person with the same name as me. Patrick (the collector) was an a***ole. I knew he felt small when he realized that he was wrong with the address and middle initial and wrong birth date of mine. He then transferred me to the "legal department" (Yeah right). They were wrong and all they had was my phone number because i had the same name as this other girl who owed them. When they realized they were wrong they said it was best that I hung up the phone. F*** these scammers, DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO, IF YOU OWE THEM THEY SHOULD HAVE ALL YOUR INFO.

Headset shaking furiously, the overweight collector managed to compose another impassioned whine against consumers.
"Only bums refuse to pay student loans"

It is quite humorous to read some of the messages left by consumers on this site. Lets face it, every single one of them that condemn these collectors for calling them have some sort of legitimate reason why they have not paid right? Have been unemployed for 15 years, too many other responsibilities, just lost family members, and on and on. I can right a book on the reasoning behind consumers thoughts on why they don't pay there student loans but I can sum it up with one word, UN-educated. Sure your a doctor, sure your a teacher, sure your an attorney and maybe a dentist or maybe even you run your own business but.......you don't pay your student loans? But you pay your car notes right? That is an essential to get to work everyday right? Was not your education? Or maybe you just were sprung with the ability to teach young kids how to be creative with dance and art and or speech or how to teach less fortunate adults how to remain positive during tough times. Maybe you were born how to debate and deal with State legislation. The bar exam was just imprinted in your brain at birth right? Some of you folks claim things that don't even occur. What law was broken? What was the swear word these people used on the phone? Do you know that there is a word for what some of you people are doing if what your saying is not true? Can you guess what that word is? Back to what is important and factual from the information I found. Do any of you know where financial aid comes from? I looked up this company and they deal with educational debt if I am not mistaking it is campus based. Meaning that if you owe a federal loan it is probably a perkins loan. These loans come from a fund or webster word, pool set up through the school for this Federal aid. The fund is a title four fund. It stopped getting funds from the Department of Education years ago. So how do students get perkins loans today? Do they grow on trees? NO! They have to be replenished so they can be re-disbursed. So bottom line is if you do not pay these loans future students will not have a fund to pull from. It is a revolving fund. Very important to understand that. And for the most part, if you have stafford loans and title four loans you just consolidate and in thirty days your out of default, if you follow instructions, and then you don't have agencies calling you. It is a simple resolution to a JAGNORMOUS problem in our country. Pay your student loans. They never go away. Maybe you even qualify for an in-school or economic hardship deferment. Call who you need to call and find out.

I realized that I typed in the wrong number. I called them back and I am paid in full. So yeh, if you really are the wrong person tell them that and give the last four digits of your social. Also ask how they got your information. They are a legit company and have helped me pay off loans that I received while in graduate school . So just be patient and they will work out lower payments with you. God bless!

so if u want to talk about breaking laws you are breaking a law by not paying your fed loans.
this means that they can sue you or take money out of your paycheck to pay this back.
bad thing is that this type of loan will never go away so man up and pay your debt losers......
