These people are not real and they are calling and scamming people all over the USA. They are causing a huge problem and did you know that no one really has any interest in speaking with you? You are possibly committing a scam and a con and sad to say but your phone number may be shut off possibly...

Affect and Effect: One is a noun and the other a verb. Using them incorrectly makes you appear ignorant.

You did the right thing. Never but never let them have a credit card number or a bank account number. never let them set up automatic payments, they are not to be trusted.

Be careful you may not really owe any money. there are lots of debts that are false or uncollectable.

Called this business looking for someone who left here more than 6 years ago. Only junk debt collectors do this, using such out-of-date information.
FWIW: the caller was very polite when informed that the person they were seeking is not here.

These people call me about once a week. I am retired and have no debt.
I am tired of their calls.

So far they only called once (looking for someone who may have had my cell number 4-5 years ago before ATT gave it to me) and the person I spoke to was surprisingly polite and agreed to take me off their list.

Early this morning, this number just rang once & stopped. I got up to check online where this number originated. Thank you for this site - I got the verification now. But I have never answered any number not in my list, anyway.

Are you sure your bankruptcy wasn't due to you mismanaging your assets?

This number called me and I wasnt sure who it was and called them back they would not disclose any information to me or tell me what company they were. They said they could not disclose that information. It was REALLY weird, then they wanted me to give them the phone number I was calling from. NO THANKS. Weirdo's... I'm not giving you s***.

This guy was claiming that I had an outstanding balance from an ancient AT&T mobile phone account. Wanted me to verify my address. When I started to explain that I had completed that contract in full, he became very rude - told me whatever it is your credit, we will be back in touch and slammed his phone down!! DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION to these people!

I got a call from this number. ATT. I read one man's response to this in Jan 2012. This was my response to him. I just read your message back in Jan 2012. I agree with your solution to send registered mail and exercise your debtor's rights and collector's calls to stop. Thanks to our government we have these options.
I understand your anger about having to go bankrupt. So many people loss their homes and livehood, but the facts are that our government and personal finances where greatly impacted by our government in the past 20 years looking the other way while mortgage investors, marketers, and other saving institutions were taking our money and making bad loans and networking our moneys so they were not traceable. In 2007, my home value turned upside down and I was able to keep my home still, not for many people though. When our government found out the truth of what they been allowing to happen, we had a royal meltdown and they passed a bill to save those institutions with our money again in October 2008. What a mess! I feel angry too, but I am hopeful after watching these lessons our government is learning and observe changes happening very slowly. It was bound to happen once the truth was out. Everyone in the government is responsible for this and their constituents as well. There are committee's with representatives from all sides working on the budget, health reform, world trade, and our military concerns and security. For better or worse, it is what it is now. Contact your Congressman, Govenors, legislators, and others on all sides and let them know enough is enough, stop the political posturing and fear mongering and get on with the job of representing us and spending responsibly for all Americans and you and your wife. One last note: My daughter's life was save because she was able to be on my insurance to get your long needed surgery--without she would have died. God Bless You and Your wife.
