I applied to a job posting on one of the aggregator employment sites (Indeed.com or SimplyHired).  CPRmyCareer appeared as the recruiting firm. I received calls from "Gabby" (925-273-6615 x 1135) and from "Russell Dupuis" (925-273-6615 x 1120), each following the script mentioned in earlier posts here (your resume has been elevated, openings in your area, etc.).  I looked at their website to try to determine if their fee was paid by the hiring company or by the job seeker.  Info on their website was very vague. Now after reading these posts, it all makes sense.  What a deplorable business, preying on the jobless, particularly on "experienced professionals in transition."

I too got the call from CPR.  Same sales pitch as previous posts only this was a guy named John at (925) 273-6615 and then another follow up over the phone from a guy named Andy at (952) 479-6348.  See a pattern in the phone numbers there?  Almost fell for it by agreeing to a one on one with other fella (financial advisor) named Tony in Scottsdale  (909) 223 0891 which would have required me driving a 60 mile round trip.  At the last hour I changed my mind and reschuled.  Tony or who ever he is will be deservedly disappointed when I blow him off!  After reading all these posts I'm glad I did not waste a trip.  They claim to have been in business for 10 years starting out in the eastern US and and trying to gain a foot hold in the west side.  Beware to anybody out there in Phoenix AZ!!!!!

Scam artist who only want your money. There are no jobs just greedy hands in your wallet. My guess is the company hires people to read their scripts and the real job is to grab your 401k and ship it off to India

I too recently had the barrage of calls from CPR My Career.  I received a phone call at around 9:00 on Sunday night to verify that I had an appointment with them.  The 'caller' let it slip that it was for a "financial advisor".  I subsequently went back through my e-mails and found the appointment verification.  I was running late to make the 'appointment' and sent the person I was supposed to meet an e-mail sating so.  He kindly replied back saying that he had no knowledge of our appointment.  Unfortunately he replied with his 'title':

CPR My Career is a FRAUDULENT company preying on unemployed people or people who have their resumes posted on Monster.com and other sites. They are POSING as a job placement company and poaching contact info from Monster.com, Career Builder, Beyond.com, etc. so they can sell people investment products. There is NO career help; it's just a scam to get people on the hook so they can sell them annuities.

Avoid these con artists and report them to Monster.com and the other job search sites.

This is at least the fifth name this phony operation (John Schrup) has used since 2008 - Trident, Outplacement Services of America, Strategic Financial Partners, Work Save Retire, CPR  My Career.

re: CPRmyCareer:  I too concur with above opinions.  Company not really interested in discussing jobs or qualifications but rather learning your personal financial holdings and getting you set  up with a local financial advisor.  Do not take the bait.  Unsavory.

Look up the Trident Group and Work Save Retire. They just change up names. John Schrup, Jason Weise. All pretty terrible people and they are trying to scam you into giving up your 401k.

Yeah, boy, CPR My Career smelled bad from the first contact. Every other sentence was "Retirement Planning" - I repeatedly answered with "under control - this issue is off the table - just looking for a job", etc. My Financial Planner guy is looking into their credentials in the field. Betcha he won't find any!

I got TWO calls from this company yesterday.  I knew right away that it was a scam but was bored so decided to listen to their sales pitch.  They said the same thing about my resume being elevated, I was a top candidate, blah blah blah.  I waited until she was done with the part about me meeting with their financial guy about the FREE 401k advice.  So, I said what the hell, sure I'll meet with him.  Fortunately for me the guy was available this morning.  He would come to me.  I told her I was out of town and could he still come to me.  She said they'd send someone to wherever I was.  Ok, told them I'd be there at 7:00 a.m. - gave them a fake address.  I was enjoying my coffee, in my jammies and smiling as I envisioned the minion driving around for an hour looking for me....... :D

Yep - I got a call today from a 952-479-6350 - "Russell" left me a voice mail saying my resume was "elevated". Googled the number but nothing came up except it was in Minnesota.  All the same scam as above and I was pretty suspicious once the really vague questions about my career goals stopped and I was told that next steps were to meet with one of the financial advisors in one of the local offices - to which I said, none of those are closer than a 45 minute drive from me.  He had no clue how large metro Chicago is. I then immediately knew that the "placement" services they provide were just a way in to getting my retirement money into their system for commission purposes, etc.  At least Russell was not hard sell and I think the fact that I am employed and have an offer on the table made me less of a willing target for their guised "services" - ugh.  I was able to get away with just a follow up email from him with a link to their website.

Just had a msg from a female "Randy" from 952.479.6342. She said my resume was "elevated" to her because of its high score and she wanted to talk to me. Didn't recognize the area code, so Googled it and saw it was Chanhassen, MN. WTF. I've never applied to a job in Minnesota. Called back. She started speaking rapidly which clued me in that this was a sales pitch. I said, "Whoa, stop Randy. You're speaking super fast. It sounds as if you're reading from a script." She responded, "yes." I asked how she got my resume, and she skirted the question, simply saying that it was "elevated." She claimed that "CPR My Career" works with recruiters nationwide. I asked, "So you're an employment agency?" She skirted that with more vague buzz words. I continued, "You said that your service is free. So the employers pay the fee?" Again, she tried to go off on a tangent. I finished with, "You know, I'm getting the feeling this isn't legit, so I'm going to pass. Please don't call me again."

I then Googled more, found this site, did some more online searches and yep, it's a financial services scam. I called her back and asked if my phone number would be deleted from their call list. She said it already was. I said, "I did some research. You're not an employment agency. You're a financial services company." She said, "No we're not." And hung up on me.

I want to know from whom/where she got my resume. It's supposed to be "hidden" and not searchable on Monster & CareerBuilder. If they're releasing our information to marketing scams, they're violating the TOS and it's a breach of contract, as well as privacy rights violation. My phone number is unlisted. So how the heck did this Minnesota scam get my phone number?

Based on the number of people posting here, it's looking like a lot of us are being violated.

Received the call from Kristy at CPRmycareer who, when asked, didn't know where my resume came from or any specifics about opportunities in my area (which she didn't know). My job search is very specific so I don't post on boards, just direct contact on job openings and opportunities. I told her I would check this service out and to call me back 2 days later. All indications of my search show that this is an assistance service such as resume tools and interview guidance equal to anything you can get anywhere including your local Labor Dept. But this is a teaser to get you to utilize their financial services as a trusted partner in your job search. When Kristy called back I declined the offer but remained curious as to how they had my resume. I had suspicion of a certain job posting so I asked a colleague to send his resume to it and later that day he also received a call from CPRmycareer. So, their posting specific jobs to target specific professionals and certain income levels to pitch financial services to, Be VERY CAUTIOUS of this company!!!  And good luck in your future endeavors.

Wow! You are right on!! got the same garbled message on my phone.. Called back... Guy really did not seem to know much about me although he said that he had been forwarded my resume. Also he mentioned the same sleaze named "Parker" who would sit down and go over retirement info. I abruptly ended this call!

NOBODY should be asking personal questions about you finances if they are really involved in job placement! Total Scam!

I received a call from them on June 27th and they went into their explanation of what they do. I listened to the entire deal, many red flags popped up, and then I was asked to meet with one of there recruiters in my area to go over things and discuss financial planning. I told them that I was not interested in the financial planning part and not really interested in meeting this person. I asked them to provide me with the login information for there site so I could see for myself if the "great tools" they discussed are really that great. I was informed that their site was down, a coincidence?, and that on Monday July 1st I would receive an email with my login information. I am still waiting for the login info, really don't expect it. Should I receive something I will send a follow up message. So far this looks like a scam, smells like a scam, so it must be a ........

I to received a call, actually I received numerous calls from "cpr my career"  first call I received from this company was a few months ago, I believe the gentleman I spoke to was either Matt or Mike. I knew right away that he was reading from the script he sounded like a tape player, with very minimum pauses. When I would try to stop him and ask him what this was about he answered with um, ya, or im getting to that. Right then I knew it was a scam so was asked to be on the do-not-call list. A month or so went by and I also had the "privilege" to speak with Ernie. Now out of the 3 people I talked to Ernie was the sharpest, and was a pure shark, after arguing with him about the amount I had in my 401k and discussing with him why that was personal information he still managed to get the amount out of me. He was extremely convincing and even convinced me to meet with one of his financial advisers, which I was fully attending to go to. He always responded back via email, which started to concern me more and more. Finally I spoke with one of their managers who I assume main job was to "confirm" the appointment with the financial adviser as Ernie stressed before hanging up with me. When confirmed I showed up to the meeting in the Ballyntyne area where the whole meeting was just about my 401k! As you probably already know I got up and decided to be done with this "CPR" scheme. Well just about a week or so ago I was called again by another gentleman who I could easily tell was again reading a script almost word for word from the first conversation I had with Matt or Mike, and again when asking him questions he either a) ignored the question or b) answered with an ummm. CPR has very little jobs if any, I was also promised to have a recruiting director give me a call which I not once received! Be careful when getting calls from this number folks.

Also getting these same phone calls from CPR My Career from Robin Johnson 952-479-6340.
Yes, they wanted to know my 401K amount. I responded to their range of $.
They are located in Minn/StPaul, MN.
Sounds so fishy. No specific job. Stated how much she loved my resume. The next guy to call was Todd Carlson. He verified my info and MADE SURE I was available for the investment guy, Chris King, who lives in the N. Dallas area. How convenient he is near me.

It's really WSR Associates of Minnesota.  The BBB there rates them a "C," which doesn't exactly inspire confidence.     Just one more business that provides just enough to stay out of jail, but exists solely to separate fools from their money.
