Debt Collector
these people keep calling me and hanging up if I answer ,if I don't answer they leave threatening messages about a debt. I don't have any outstanding debts. I call them back , they say they will remove my # from their list than it all starts again. this morning I called them back after some little whimp left me a threatening message. I explained once again they had the wrong person and that they were waking me up. the guy called me a bum. I told him I worked nights, he said he bet I worked at mcdonalds and he dealt with my type all the time. I ask for his supervisor and he told me he was the supervisor.i googled their name and found out their crooks with numerous complaints to BBB and FCC and FTC. why cant these people be stopped?

If you are advising that we call these people, I can only assume you for or with them. They called my house, my cell, plus a family member's house. I did call them back. They procceded to tell me that I have civil allegations against me and they told me who the supposed client was. I busted them! Their supposed client is my bank with whom I am in good standing with. The woman on the phone even went so far as to say that my bank supplied them with video of me writing a check and getting a loan. WRONG! I told the woman and I quote "Oh yea? That's my bank, I'm calling them right now." Then I hung up on her and called my bank and explained what was going on, only to be basically told "Umm we do not hire attornies outside our institution. We have our own legal team." Busted the so called law firm of adams and a***oles I mean associates. I d went a step further and gave my bank the phone number. SOOOO, you still going to tell me to call them? Further, I got my credit report, further validating that adams and idiots I mean associates are #1 either pulling a scam or #2 the name is being used in this scam. Yes I said SCAM. It's point blank bogus fake full of crap. So, tell me, how long have you been working for them?

You don't get a call from the county court house - you are served papers.  I do hope you had them comply with legal requirements such as mailing you a debt validation letter, and also contacting the original creditor to make sure they had turned your account over to these collectors.

I think they dialed my number but thought they were calling someone else. My recommendation is DON'T answer the phone or return the messages. They will stop calling!! They have stopped calling me.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

they called me and when i didnt answer the phone,they called my sister in law in cali,and told her they needed to get ahold of me concerning a social security claim i had filed,so i called them and a mary crabtree told me she was from greg adams and associates,and they were calling me in regards to a payday loan that i owed,and then she proceeded to tell me that if i gave her my checking account number and debit card number that it could all be taken care of today,when i told her that i dont hand out my information over the phone to people i dont know,she was like well we are legit,now i hadnt said anything about them not being legit,so she just gave herself away right there,and i told her i dont know you and have never heard of you and youre not getting my information.

Prank Call
I got the call from David Zimmerman at Gregory Adams and Associates and I agree with all other comments out there about this guy.  He must be loving that his name comes up so many times on a google search.  They are trying to scam people and get your information.  When I called and refused to talk to the "assistant" he got belligerant and tried to make it like I was the problem.  He wouldn't tell me anything about he "charges" against me  but started to ask for phone numbers of people with the same last name as me!  What jerks.  I filed a report the the Southern Florida BBB.  The number they used was 561-288-3572 in Pompano Beach, FL.

just received a fairly strong message from david zimmerman with gregory adams & associates saying that a lawsuit has been filed against my name and social security number. i'm considered a person of interest. i'm advised to contact their office or to have my attorney contact them or else i will be committing willful evasion of the law. their contact number given is 305.529.0880. i have no intention of returning this call - sounds like bullying BS to me! i'm an upstanding citizen with not a single concern that this carries any weight.

First call - claimed it was third and he will be filing suit today for someone. Called a business line, not a residence. Sounds like a complete scam.

This person constantly calls and says it is Dave Zimmerman from Gregory something and associates.  They continue to harrass me about a debt that I do not have and say that they have video survelience, etc, etc from the company supposedly suing me but that they don't have access to it because the company is keeping it for court.  Bunch of crap.  Every time I call back Zimmerman is busy and when i told them that they were scam artists they were beligerent and rude on the phone.  DON'T GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFO AND REPORT THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.  If they were real lawyers they would not be going this route to get information.

Zimmerman called, stating with Gregory Adams & Assoc. Looking or a person that doesn't live here, never did and never will. Keeps calling over and over, called back one time to let them know they have the wrong number after they left a voicemail. Then he proceeded to ask what number I was called at. Common, if you just got a name of a person that supposedly you have a case for you should have the number in front of you. Don't give them any information all they want is you repeating your number and give them more info, and next thing you know you have agreed to buying something or donating something, they take your answers out of context and try to use it as evidence you gave them permission. Best thing is to keep ignoring these calls.
