NO, you are WRONG - they most DEFINATELY WILL CALL YOU "out of the blue."  IDK if you work for them or have some affiliation, but the people posting comments on this site are getting calls from Kaplan University and other places that THEY DID NOT EXPLICITLY REQUEST.  This information (phone number) was acquired through UNSCRUPULOUS practices, probably from a totally UNRELATED form or information given previously online.  My guess is an online resume or "job" application.  I know what I am talking about because it happened to me and I am not an idiot.  I DID NOT give this place my phone number or ANY personal data.  So, "DUH" yourself, dummy!  These companies they are calling about are usually legitimate, but use "phone lists" from "affiliated partners" and then use a CALLING SERVICE to bug the hell out of you.  They are like Terminators - They Will Not Stop.  Once your number is in the "system," good luck trying to get them to stop.  These are professional telemarketers, this is their career, 24/7 to call you with a sales pitch.  The company they are calling for may have no idea how aggressive they are.  WRITE DOWN the number that keeps pestering you and enter it into your phone carrier's CALL BLOCK, CALL REJECT, or CALL SCREENING service.  It is fast and easy and the ONLY way guaranteed to STOP the harassment permanently.  Don't bother with Do Not Call Lists as they are totally worthless.  I hope this info HELPS people instead of just berating them as other posters have done.

Receive calls from this number randomly.  Was happening frequently.  Has died down, but still happens at times.   I ignore the calls.

Get calls on cell & no message left. Get @ least 10 plus calls a day & they start before 9 a.m pst. Now that I know who it is, my interest in their certificate program has changed. Won't be enrolling there!

I talked with an admissions advisor from Kaplan on Saturday, and I told her that I wasn't interested, but she felt the need to go into detail about how great Kaplan University is and that I should try their program to further my education.  She called me yesterday and today to follow up on the enrollment process!  On a side note, I think this may be a scam, because the woman did not even know the difference between a Master of Arts and a Master of Science!  I just called and told them to put me on their do not call list; they supposedly did, so hopefully they won't bother me anymore.

They call from a couple of numbers but never say who they are.  They keep asking for a Lynn Roberts. I tell them no such animal. They say they will update their files. Lynn Roberts, if you are out there, please give your real number next time.

It's from some useless online college. It's a scam. I must say, many of the folks posting on this site aren't too bright. Posting a message on a website like this telling them to stop calling you won't do anything. That's like yelling "I WANT PIZZA!" out of your window and expecting a delivery 30 minutes later.

Well, it's another new month and this new parasite, as well as the usual old parasites have begun calling me long distance (this one, a new 'leech' from Florida) to my 'for emergency only use' private cell phone number...pfft! This unsolicited caller has called my cellphone repeatedly since just before 2PM today...ringing twice then hanging-up? After reading similar notes from others here, as well as performing a numbers search, I've now confirmed this number to be another Verified SPAMMER, as I too have never contacted the University of Phoenix or Kaplan University...nor do I have any need or desire to do so! These idiots must be 'in cahoots' with the University of Phoenix as they've both been 'hounding' me since yesterday?

I do not answer calls from numbers not listed in my phone's 'Contact List', but instead, I add them as a Verified SPAMMER to it, so that I'll know that such 'bogus' calls are to be ignored in the future. In addition, I never respond to nor return these calls, especially using the "press 1 to be removed" feature, as all types of calls like these are all just simply SCAMs and these types of 'leeches' obviously 'don't play by the rules' anyway. Calling them back or picking-up the calls only shows them that you are in fact a 'live' number. I ignore these calls so that maybe after several rings/unanswered calls, parasites like these might hopefully and eventually drop my number from their 'Who To Try and SCAM Today' list.

BTW, don't believe the 'trolls' that tell you that you must have unknowingly signed-up at one time or another, as I sometimes wonder if these people are in fact legitimate posters? In addition, I'm unsure if the Do Not Call List even works, as I read a number of like responses across the internet from numerous citizens continually being plagued by SPAMMERs...yet they too have continually reported the numbers of unsolicited callers to the FTC religiously?
