Why do do they have to call on Sunday??  No they don't leave a message.
You'd think at 5 calls a day they'd get it...We're not going to answer.
Not leaving a message to let us know who they are and why they're calling is a waste of everyone's time and money.
I'm sure they're paying someone OT to call 7 days a week 5 times a day.  Hmmm, I guess I am glad they don't leave a message every time :)
If it's automated you don't pay the computer OT but if their customer does answer there's got to be a live person to talk to...right?

"I called the # on the back of the card and spoke to Amex.  They verified that (954) 503-1800 is an official AMEX number and NOT a scam"

American Express customer support at 1-800-528-4800 says that that number is not affiliated with their company in any way, and that if they attempted to contact me again I should report the fraud to the authorities.  So, either you're lying, or the guy I spoke to at the hotline provided on American Express' own website is lying.

It IS AMEX and they call if you are a minute late with your payment.  The Republicans have let these credit card companies act as terrorist to the American people.  We need a Patroit Act to protect us from the abuses of credit card companies.

I don't even have an Amex account.  Somehow two of these numbers have found out my cell number and have been calling me nonstop without leaving a message.  Thanks to boards like this, I haven't picked up (or been scammed).  Thank you!

This is not ALWAYS the AMEX collection department.  The call may also be a marketing related call.  I called AMEX and they removed me from their lists for marketing calls.  Hopefully that works.

If they wouldnt lower my limit the day after I pay the card off I wouldnt be so pissed.   I originally paid down all my accounts to facilitate purchase of airline tickets to conduct business in Europe and my limits were dropped following this payment without warning or ever being late.  I had no way of purchasing the airline tickets and have since become unable to conduct this business due to these actions by AMEX.... I have asked numerous times that my acct limit be restored to its original limits.  I have received nothing in return. Therefore, I absolutly refuse to pay my accounts until my limits, and late fees eliminated and accts are restored to prior conditions.   Do not call me or email again until this is done or I will file a suit against your company for damages... Very seriously, Mark Passarelli

They will not work with you.  They will only harass you.  You must write them a letter stating you only wish to be contacted by mail. They will keep changing the caller ID  and calling .

This number is NOT American Express. I am in fact an Amex cardholder and received a call from 954-503-1800 on my cell phone, the individual left a voicemail saying that they were with Amex and it was an important business matter to call them back immediately. I have been with Amex for many years and if they have EVER  needed to contact me for a business reason, they have done so using my home phone number. Matter of fact, they don't eve have my cell phone number as a contact number, which lead me to believe this was a suspicious call to begin with.

I contacted Amex last night and they said that number was not them and to disregard the call. The gentleman I spoke to was going to pass the number on to his supervisor so they could look into the situation further.

Best to ignore the call, ignore the request to call them back and if you are in fact an Amex cardholder, use the number on the back of your card or one of the customer service numbers provided on their website to contact them. Any legit business is going to try and contact you at home for matters such as this, not via your cell phone.

Why do they call if I pay all my bills on time and have no pending issues with AMEX? also, why don't they leave a message explaining what the problem is? if they are from a genuine American Express department it should show in the caller ID specially when there are so many scams out there.  When they finally contact you they want you to give them your account number, they should have that information linked to your phone number when they call and they should know it.  The safest thing is to call the number on the back of the card, if there are any issues they should know.

They call at LEAST once a day asking for a specific person in the office (3 times from different people so far today & the day is young) ?  Usually ask when the person will be back & for other #s to call ? won't say who's calling or why (except "important business matter") ?

This is a SCAM or a collections agency. I get multiple calls a day from this number and the 623-492-6031 (Arizona) number on my cell phone. I do not have an AMEX card. In fact, I have never been late on a single payment on anything in my life. BE CAREFUL! Any reputable company will tell you to NEVER GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION when a company contacts you (it's different if you are calling them).

Truly unbelievable. Prior to this, American Express collections had been calling my cell phone with their other number (1-623-492-6031), and now, under 954-503-1800, after being told not to telephone me again. They are in quest of a woman owing them money, but giving them my cell phone number to throw them off the trail. It had always been my opinion that data tendered would be verified. Perhaps American Express had high tech software, but low tech morons doing their collections work. I do not have any business dealings with American Express. I would not mind doing business with them, I have nothing against them. For the record: Hire people possessing a proper command of the English language. Apparently they job out their work to southern Asia.
