Watch out for these people!!!! Now they're not just posting on Craigslist. I have found ads from them on legit freelance sites Elance.com and oDesk.com. I flag and report them everytime I see them, but they're posting tens of not hundreds of ads each week!!

I had found a house for rent, sadly it was a fakes heres the info i got below, after the 4th e-mail i know i was a fake , and they were out to get my money... scared i call the cops, and real people who were renting this house.. and got the truth

I answered the same type of add on Craig?s List. It seems to me that the name of the company and the name of the sender change, but everything else is pretty much the same. The man by the name of Doctor Albert Nelson from Zyware Technologies called me to tell me the instructions of what to do with the money orders. The first thing I thought to my self was Nelson is a strange last name for someone with a Middle Eastern accent. So I researched the company and could not find anything. I even researched his phone number (619)780-8286, it?s out of Frisco, CA. I could not find any information that matched a Doctor Albert Nelson in CA.I received two USPS money orders in the amount of 950 each. I noticed that the express mail USPS came from someone else in Washington, NC. I used Google earth to look at the address it came from. There isn?t even a house there. It is a county road with a bridge. When the post office opened up the next day I called them to see if the money orders were legit. They told me they have no record of the serial numbers or transaction. I used a black marker and put the word fraudulent check on the money orders. That way no one can use then and I can?t get in trouble for having them in my position, if something were to happen. So tonight Mr. Nelson called me to see if I had received the package. I told him yes, but you gave me fraudulent checks. He tried to convince me that they are real. Like as if the post office was incorrect about their money orders. lol! I asked him so how many people do you scam and how many names do you have. He did not say anything he just hung the phone up. If anyone sends you money orders, call the company it was issued by to see if it is legit. Do not just go cash it. In less you look good in strips. e

See...this why I love this site.  Something seems wrong and the first place I come to check em out is here.  Thanks everybody who posted here and saved me from a headache.  I answered a Craiglist posting for an Admin Clerk III.  The job name was real enough...City of San Gabriel...but What got me suspicious is for the location it just said San Gabriel Valley.  I'm learned the hard way that on Craigslist...when there's NO location (actuall City name) or its not specific..(San Gabriel Valley is a whole bunch of cities and a very big area...then you're probably replying to a job scam. Looks like the original craiglist posting has been flagged for removal but here's their response today.

Hey guys i just got the same bogus job offer on BAYAREA CRAIGSLIST i did my research i have a friend of a friend who e-mailed me this:
Hi *******,

This is not legitimate, in which case, it would seem like a nice paying job.  I just talked to my dad who?s company does a similar service for the Veteran?s Administration to ask if the job description sounds like something that could be real.  He says it couldn't be, it would all be legit and you would be meeting with managers and representatives.

There are a few things about this job opportunity that seem a little suspicious to me:

1)      The company name

Avaya is an enormous multinational company, that does do VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol).  Their website is www.avaya.com.  The fact that the email comes from an @avayatechinc.net domain, which is different from the real Avaya, is suspicious.  If I go to www.avayatechinc.net, it appears to be a blank Google Apps website (not what I would expect the real Avaya to use).  Seems suspicious.

2)      The pay seems high for data entry

I?m not sure what the going rate for data entry is in the Bay Area, but $20/hr seems really high.  If you are hiring workers that work from home, why not hire in a lower cost labor market?  I could be wrong, but seems suspicious.

3)      ?The Board of Directors would review details for each applicant that has been approved for this job if found suitable for the position.?

This statement (following all of the questions in red) seems really suspicious.  Board members of companies like Avaya are typically extremely well paid CEO types.  Avaya has something like 20,000 employees.  I guarantee you their board members aren?t reviewing any applicants for anything other than executive positions.  This statement is really weird.


So don't trust this online crap this is a church friend i know he is a software engineer very well prepared and i trust him.

I received the same email. It was first about a brief interview but then it sounded iffy to me after I received the second email from this person saying that I have been selected for the job. I tried to do research on this company before doing anything further but I couldn't even find any information on it. I asked a friend if he had ever heard of it and he Googled this number and sent me this page.

Wow!!!I am sooo glad that I googled the number because when I tried calling it, it didn't go through. And Im glad I googled the name Mark Schneider cause the only thing that came up was just a jewelry guy and from what I knew he is suppose to be a part of some company media company. I did find it weird that the ad was asking for an office clerk and the questionnaire they sent me had a question "I have I ever worked at home?", which made no sense at all...I thought I was going to be working at an office not at home.

Well thanks, for all the info..im going to flag this ad on the sacramento craig's list.

Hi, I just went thru the same thing. I flagged the Craigslist ad as not abiding by the polciies of Craigslist...    You can find the box to flag ads in the upper right hand corner after you open the ad.

I've been laid off since April, and it ticks me off I wasted time responding to this ad only to find out it was a scam.  Luckily I started googling the company name and the phone number and found this web site and saw your complaint or I may have responded one more time just to see where it went, but won't waste the time now.   Good luck in your job search :)

Wow, I just applied to a similar listing thru Sacramento's Craigslist, and had a feeling from the very beginning because the ad title was for one position, yet in the job description it said administrative assistant something was off.  But what really sent warning bells is when I responded to their questionnaire, and again no specific idea what the job would be,  I received a response to my answers in 11 minutes with totally different information about the job plus the stuff about sending equipment and them not doing payroll taxes, etc.  So I started googling more seriously for information.  Couldn't find anything about the company.  They said they were registered with Better Business Bureau, but I couldn't find them, and then I googled the phone number and found this web site.  I'm glad I did.  I just remember that good old saying "if it seems too good to be true..." Sigh...  

sigh.   Thank you for writing your comments...it saved me some aggravation and hopefully others will google this up as well.

I too applied online thru Craigslist for a job.....I first went thru an online interview, then they emailed me back saying I had rec'd the position, just like that!~  Wierd I thought, then they wanted info about me and my home address so they could send me my package, with a one time amount of money for me to handle, a "Test of Duty" is what they called it.
I felt something was wrong so before I gave them that info I looked up the number thru google and lo and behold I have read your responses so I won't be responding to his email.

What a scam!  I wonder how many people fall for this?  and once you cash the check or deposit into your bank account, do they then grab all of your money?  I wonder how it works?  Anyway thanks for getting online and giving your responses.....you saved me alot of trouble!

I too received emails about this job position. I literally just got the check from Fedex seems like they are waaaay to trusting and who would give a 2,890.10 check to someone theyve only communicating online with. This is a total scam. I will shred the check and never speak to these people again. I alson called this number and a man answered said hello hung up. then he called me back and i answered and he just stayed quiet. These people are evil. DO NOT fall for it. DO not cash that check.

WOW!! I am glad I did my research before I got my package. I applied for a position on Craigslist bor Data Entry $19 per hour. Went through 3 Q & A emails and then was told a check was being Fedex to me. I tracked the number today and there is a package coming my way. But after reading all the post about this bogus job, I think I will turn it over to the police. The number is listed at the bottom of an email ..9546077331. I called it and the guy just said Hello and hung up. I googled Accu Tech (which was the name of the company) and yes I got a hit but when I called them, they had nothing to do with it and had heard of the scam before. So with that being said, these people are about to get what's coming to them... DO NOT ACCEPT THIS POSITION OR MONEY!!!
