They call 2 times a day for the past 3 weekes ir so...sometimes @ 3AM. No one answers and when u call bacl it says the number has been disconnected or is no longer in service. Ive called fido and they have red flagged the number but they said that they want more people to call and complain before they can really do anything...So call!!

I just get a phone call on my work, some noisy on the other side but nobody talk to me. I'm in Alberta with Fido too.
I go to internet and search this number, then I come here, everyone is complain FIDO!!
I have a very weird thing need to tell everyone too beside the weird phone calls.
That I have received a huge longdistance phone bill from FIDO. The thing is I had never dial any long distance number directlly. Every time when I dial long distance phone calls, I'm always call an indirect number to make my long distance calls, (JUST LIKE TO USE A PHONE CARD)
I've been doing this more than two years.

They charge me on the indrect NO. as local call and then they also charge me the indirect long distance CALLS as direct long distance Call.
When I phone FIDO and tell them I had never make direct phone calls.
THE PHONE BILL SHOWS THAT I MADE TWO CALLS AT SAME MINUTES.

***Fido says: that I had phone the indirect no. then I put my phone on hold to make another direct long distance call. ***

IS THIS MEAN FIDO IS TOO POOR BIG COMPANY AND HAD TO CHEATING GET TO EARN MONEY?? OR THEY THINK PEOPLE ARE STUPID???

I actually picked up when they called, i'm on Fido in BC, and they told me they were calling from CKNW 980 am the radio station, telling me about a contest and stuff.  I realized it can't be because it's not a Vancouver number.  If it was it should be 604.  Becareful, I'm sure it was a scam artist, but he does research to know where he's calling to.

FIDO is a cell phone provider company across canada

This same number called my company asking about our Monster.com account, when I told them the account administrator worked out of another building, the woman simply said 'okay thank you' and hung up.  Sounds fishy to me...

i am a fido user from BC.
i have got this no. calling me several times in the past one or two weeks, but i had never picked up.  the person never left me a message except one time, but it was a somewhat weird and long message... i couldn't understand what she was trying to say. the message really did scare me!! however, after I found out this site, i am not scared of it any more.
After reading all of the messages, I don't think these phone calls are from Fido.  Since Fido employees would have left some reasonable messages for their customers for sure, instead of "non-listenable" ones.  
I guess some of the information of Fido customers had got stolen from a third party, and now that third party is trying to collect more real information from these Fido customers.  That's why they are kept calling people and pretended to be Fido employees.  
i really don't know what I should do.  I don't think Fido can do anything about it. However, if we can prove that our information had got stolen due to Fido's negligence, we can probably sue them as a group.

Hi I'm a FIDO customer from Calgary.  Got the same scripting, only it was a guy telling me that I can sign up a family member for free, plus a free Sony Ericsson Phone and Bluetooth headset.  I was driving and said i'd call him back or go to a store to make my decision.  He immediately responded by saying "NO!  You can ONLY qualify for this offer via the telephone."  I asked why and he did not have a legitimate response.

THEN, to add to the pressure call, he assumptively told me he was going to send the phone and headset out as a "free trial, try it for 30 days and if you dont like it send it back"... Once again, I declined and told him I was going to notify the nearest FIDO dealership of this promotion and hung up.

Theres definately something fishy about this number and the promotion.  Please be careful not to give them ANY information about you.

Just as an advice to all of you if you call Fido they can remove you from their telemarketing distribution lists and they have confirmed that 100% no information is passed to a third party. I have done this myself so as to still receive mail but no calls regarding promotions etc...

They called me again today and I picked up...  I spoke to a really polite lady named Suzanne who said that she was "calling on behalf of FIDO Services".  She wanted to let me know about a promotion where I could sign up a family member and get a free Sony Ericsson phone and a free Bluetooth headset.

I declined, then asked her a few questions...

Apparently, this is a call centre in Toronto (on King Street).  The reason why we see a Florida area code is due to the automated dialing software that they use.

i called fido yesterday and told them about this number..they said they never heard about it..but said  it could be one of thier marketing companies and they said they will take me off the marketing list  but it takes 2 weeks..well c if this works !

It is possible even for a technician to not be aware of telemarketing strategies of Rogers/Fido. See message by Nika. Although it is true and normakl that customer service at Fido would not have a clue about this info. Nika mentions AT&T wireless so were connected to Rogers a few years ago. Who knows, still annoying.

For anyone in this chat group who are Fido Customers I am also a Fido customer and have spoken with my colleague who is a network technician for Fido/Rogers, so I was able to get a real answer. This number 954-623-4601 is a SCAM they are pretending to be FIDO = PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFO. FIDO is not aware or responsible for this SCAM.

I'm also with fido in Toronto. I've had this number call me several times in the last few days. I picked up once and the person hardly spoke english. Now they just call and I don't pick up. So irritating.

lol, i remember the days wen i worked as a telemarketing person... I never got bitched at so much... infact my telemarketing career lasted exactly 3 hrs.. and in those thee hours i got sweared at more than i did my whole life... and at the end i decided that it wasn worth it..

Ok, so i wrote a letter of complaint to Fido costumer service, then i got imaptient waiting for a reply, so I decided to find out where the calls are coming from.

Turns out that this might not be a scam, because the calls are coming from a local AT&T(Rogers/Fido) in Pompano Beach/Miami/Florida. Though it is extremely wierd that costomer serv. rep's deny knowing anything about it (maybe they realy dont know anything about it..)

So chillax, guys! No one is trying to rip you off! And FIDO did not cell ur info to a third party for comercial purposes! :P

For future reference:
-unless you are a 100% sure NEVER GIVE OUT UR PERSONAL INFO AND ESPECIALLY UR CREDIT CARD NUMBERS!!!!!

Got the calls too.... Ima FIDO customer, and have been for the past 5 yrs. This is the first time something like this happened. im from Toronto, Ont btw. Guys, if FIDO gets a lot of reports about this, im pretty sure they gonna start movin they a**.... so if you get a call from dis number REPORT IT, call customer service, and COMPLAIN!!!!!! and wat is this bull about changing numbers? what, now i have to call about a 100 people and tell them that i changed my number, just cuz they dont want do anything about it?!? I DUN THINK SO!!!!!!

I have been receiving these calls as well. So after reading this blog I decided to call Fido they gave the same answer that some of you already received. The girl told me that they would like to contact their Fraud Department and they will have to call me back. I told them this wasn't suitable for me because I don't feel comfortable about someone calling me from Fido since these other people are trying to call us saying that they are FIDO. They also told me that they haven't heard of this before and I was in SHOCK and told them alot of their customers are complaining about the same issue and they are telling me that they havnen't heard of this before? It doesn't seem like FIDO is doing anything about this! I got another number that we can contact it is 1-888-381-8076 the hours are 8am-12pm. I am going to call this number and see what happens. Because honestly this is getting really annoying!!!

Hey guys same thing, I`m with FIDO too, and got three calls so far. As I`ve read all of your complaints, that`s what i`m thinking:
First of all, we`re all with FIDO, so defenatly it has to do everything with that, I agree with some of you that probably they do sell our INFO to telemarketing companies, or they telemarket themselves. Otherwise they would do something about it, I mean common it`s a huge company. Second of all, it is completely pointless to report to FIDO because if they do it themselves (which is for sure) why would they do something about it, I mean it`s money. And third of all it is also pointless to report the police because telemarketing IS LEGAL and do you think that such a big company will not provide all of the necessary documentation for their right to do that, I mean we`re their customers. So the only thing that some of us got lucky when they actually did report and probably they were pushy or I don`t know what they did to get their number off the list. So I just ignore the calls not like this is the end of the world.

I just received the call 10 minutes ago...  I didn't pick up this time (and they didn't leave a message), but I have answered in the past and it was someone with poor English offering me a new phone if I renewed with FIDO.


I'm with FIDO in Montreal.  I'm currently on contract, but it had lapsed for a bit.

I believe this number is a scam. Once we picked up, our phones will be charged with long distance charges.

Did FIDO sell our personal profiles and credit cards numbers out or hackers hack FIDO's database and steal all our infos ?

If the above is true, we can claim compensation from FIDO if they continue to pretend they do not have anything to do with these CALLS !!
