yes, i have actually tried to to talk to the representative not that i wanted to lower my credit card rate, but to act like it so i can get the info out of them, well the only thing they need is your CC number which i told the representative I will not give out since I do not know who I am dealing with, they gave me a punch of BS and said that is company policy that they are not able to give out the phone number or the web address because of sensitive info....punch of BS again, I told them to send me something in mail which they said they would not do as well, then I told them I am on the do not call list and they hung up right away, there is nothing you can do about it since the phone number is computer generated.  Please be advised and try to find out the company name and address? I promise you they will hang up and not give you any info.

Got a call from this number. They don't leave a message. I wish these
people can be stopped. It's funny that they try to make you buy another
warranty on your car - except you no longer OWN the car! Enough already.

After dozens of calls I decided the best strategy is to try to waste as much of their time as possible.  I gave them phoney information about my credit card debt.  Then he asked for the 800 number on the back of one of my cards.  He said he would hold while I got my card.  I just put down the phone and went back to what I had been doing.

I suggest that everyone should do this.  Only then would the calls stop.  The Don Not Call Registry is a joke.

I gave them fake info too. I got the guy's name - Jay Buffet. He said the company was Credit Card Account Services out of NY. I asked him to told 3 times during the conversation. When he asked for the 800 number on the back of my credit card, I asked him if he'd been fingerprinted and bonded. He hung up.

I'm with the other commenter Rich. Answer if you have about five minutes. They ask: how many cards, balance on them, how long to pay it off, highest % rate, and balance on that particular card. Write some fake stuff on a pad by the phone. When they call give it to 'em but make sure you put 'em on hold a few times.

Same scenario others reported; an automated msg first saying your cc interest rate could be raised..I did press 1 only to find out who they were, same answer; service center, i don't give information i ask and when I wanted to know why they were calling i got a smart a** answer of; didn't you listen to the recording? when I said yes I went off and told them to stop calling me, to take me off their list and this was a bunch of crap, they were scammers and then I got a"okay, we'll call you tomorrow and they hung up. Reported to Verizon and sadly you can't block this # but you can avoid answering it if you see the #! We need to put them out of business.

FINALLY WE MAY GET SOME RELIEF.

By Marcy Gordon, AP Business Writer
WASHINGTON — Federal regulators filed suits Thursday against several companies they say are behind a national wave of spam "robo-calls" that warn people their auto warranties are expiring and offer service plans.

Federal Trade Commission officials said they asked a federal court in Chicago to halt the illegal telemarketing campaign of "Your Car Warranty Has Expired." Officials say as many as 1 billion of the nuisance calls have been made to Americans.

The FTC named Voice Touch and Transcontinental Warranty in the suits. It is seeking injunctions forcing them to return allegedly ill-gotten gains.

FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz called it "one of the most aggressive" telemarketing schemes the agency has ever seen.

"I'm not sure which is worse, the abusive telemarketing tactics of these companies, or the way they try to deceive people once they get them on the phone," Leibowitz said. "Either way, we intend to shut them down."
FIND MORE STORIES IN: Missouri | Indiana | Chicago | Arkansas | Jon Stewart

It took some heavy sleuthing to determine what companies were responsible because they made "extraordinary" efforts to conceal their identities by masking their true phone numbers, he said.

If a consumer received such a call about his car warranty, "there's a very real chance that these guys did it," Leibowitz told reporters in a conference call.

Representatives from Voice Touch and Transcontinental Warranty were not immediately available to comment Thursday afternoon.

While seeking return of allegedly illegal profits from the companies, the FTC isn't immediately seeking civil fines against them but may consider doing so later on, agency officials said.

Attorneys general in Arkansas, Indiana and Missouri have taken similar actions over the calls offering deals on extended warranties, which have brought about 300,000 inquiries and 4,000 complaints to the Better Business Bureau from consumers over the past two years. The calls come even if the consumer has signed up for the national "Do Not Call" registry, which is maintained by the FTC.

The calls target people regardless of whether they have warranties or even own cars. They call numbers randomly and leave messages with a computerized voice telling people, falsely, that their auto warranties are about to expire, regulators say.

"Out of warranty? You are still eligible to reactivate warranty coverage. This is the final call before we close the file." The recording typically gives the caller an option to stop receiving calls, but they continue to come even if consumers opt out.

If people call back and agree to buy policies, the companies often don't let them see the contracts until they agree to pay. And some people don't learn until they've spent thousands of dollars that the deals don't cover many types of repairs, according to regulators.

Register your home and cell numbers with   https://www.donotcall.gov/
My numbers have already been registered and I still get calls from this number about a credit card which I don't have, tried to call them back and it is disconnected.  I've pushed 2 when the calls happen to be removed from the calling list, and still get them, when prompted 1 to speak to someone and tell them to remove my number, they slam the phone.  This is why I went to the do not call when site, because you can file a complaint with them.  Hope this helps, I hope it will stop the calls for me too, nothing like coming home from work and getting these annoying calls.

They just called me. I played along. Jay Buffet asked me how many credit cards I had. I said 4. He asked how much debt on them. I said 30K. He asked how long to pay it off. 1 year. He asked me to check the high int rate and said he'd wait. I said 19.24. He asked balance. $6786. He asked for the 800 number on the back of my card to verify info. I asked him name of his company. He said Credit Card Acct. Svcs out of NY. I asked him if he'd been fingerprinted and bonded. He hung up. I wonder why? If I have five minutes to spare, I talk to them, give them all kinds of fake info.

I too reported them to the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.  Perhaps if everyone who received a call from that number, and others like that, the violators would get fined and stop calling.  ADVICE:  Report unwanted calls each and every time you receive them.

We keep getting calls from this number to lower our credit card rate.  We don't even use credit cards.  Pushed the number to talk to a live person to tell them to remove us from the list and she hung up on us.  Tried to call the number and it is disconnected.  It must be a blind number they call from.  Very annoying to keep getting these calls.  I am reporting them again to the FDC.

I just got one too, and have also gotten one from a number 386-767-8027 for the lower credit card interest BS.  Has anybody figured out WHO they are and how we get good info on them to sue?  When I told "Keith" that I was going to pursue them for DNC infractions, he told me to "do what you have to do."

Got this call today. Pressed menu # to speak to a representative. She refused to identify herself or her company name saying she was only a "call service and I could be 'any Joe Schmoe, even a stalker'". She claimed to be calling from New York City. I explained to her that I work in law enforcement and sleep during the day and her company keeps waking me up even though I'm on the National Do Not Call list. I said I would pursue the matter - she hung up.

Whatever you do, DO NOT give any information out to this company: It is a telemarketing fraud trying steal money from your credit card. This happened to me once before: Two Companies: National Dealer Service of America and Warranty Finance LLC.

The first company misrepresents the second for a kickback; then they both plunder your credit card for a either a non-existent product or a service that is utterly worthless. Tha bank will only protect you up to sixty days -then they pocket the rest. They don't know who you are. They use a computer with a random dialer to call anybody who'll answer and hope for a sucker with their spamming efforts. If your unlucky enough to get ripped off, take them to small claims court (you'll win a default judgement, they won't show up). Then post it on your credit report when the bank gives your credit a black eye. That's the only remedy so far as I know. Treat any computerized call as a scam and don't give any information "for verification purposes" (identity theft).
