Like all scammers, this clown hates sites like this because they make it harder to trick people on the phone!

It's First Data....why not pick up your phones and call the number back??? What do you think they are going to do? Reach through the phone and stab you? Reach through the phone and grab your check book?
GET REAL PEOPLE..... sites like this were designed for scams.....not to attack companies you ASSUME are telemarketers.....
Common sense would go a long way with some of you......

It's First Data, NOT Chase...... they are verifying transactions the merchant processed to make sure they are complying with F.D. rules..... nothing wrong with taking the call.... sometimes new merchants must be looked at for a while and if transactions appear to be fraud or suspicious, they call to verify them...Might mean the merchant you are buying from is still new to running credit cards with First Data and they want to prevent fraud.

I signed up for a merchantinc.com account and this number called the next day.

Same here:
Asked about a purchase I charged to a credit card - whether the payment was in advance or after I'd received the merchandise. They DID know who made the purchase.

954-845-4000 is Chase.
They process credit cards for merchant accounts. If they call you, it's in your best interest to call them back as they are normally just trying to confirm that you actually authorized the charge in question.

Asked about a purchase I charged to a credit card - whether the payment was in advance or after I'd received the merchandise. I have caller ID so I called back and was told they ("FIRST DATA") work for the merchant but the woman that answered couldn't guess why anyone working with them would care to know whether or not I paid in advance. Since I wasn't asked and didn't give any personal info - not even my name, I didn't pursue it any further.
