It looks like they have started this up again because all the reviews posted are from 2007 and here we are 2012 and I get 4 calls a day either from real people or recordings.  You can not stop them as they use all
different numbers.  It is law in FL that allows them to do this and I was told by the people in the state of FL at DO Not call list, it would cost me $10.00 a year to continue to block my number.  The National do not call list can not stop this in FL unless a Bill is past to do so.  It is money for FL to have residents pay the bucks to stop the calls.  I am sorry I ever took out a subscription to Sun Sentinel  for many years.  This is what happens to you when you stop buying the paper.  They have told me over and over that they would stop this to my number, but have not.  Only leaving the state can put a stop to this and do not take your number with you.

The calls are from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.  They are trying to sell subscriptions. They never leave messages.
When I answered, they tried to convince me that I owed money.  I paid them for six months last month.  If the calls continue, I will cancel my subscription and read for free on the Internet.

definately started on a rampage 4 times today. i'm glad for the sun-sentilel confirmation because they started a bogus subscription for me at my house and just started billing. this was 2 months ago. they did stop dropping the paper and billing me though? apparently they just love using ink. they shouldn't be tagging cell phones. the do-not-call list is worthless in my account but you all can complain and they could get in trouble.

I get numerous calls from both the Sun Sentinel telemarketers despite the fact that I am on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.  I find it a bit pathetic that no matter how many times I have asked the telemarketer to remove me from the list when they call they do not have a process in place where they can handle that for you.  I know you can call 954-741-1814 (call between 1 pm & 5 pm) and ask to be removed but somehow I just start getting the calls again.  Sometimes the telemarketer will just  hang up on you when you are asking to be removed. So now you have not only do you get the harrassing phone call but they get to be rude to you as well.  PLEASE GO TO   donotcall.gov  and click on file a complaint  I think the loop hole is that if you have ever been a subscriber then Sun Sentinel feels that they have the right to call you but I would go ahead and try and submit the complaint anyway.. .maybe if they get enough of them they will put better practices in place.

I hope eventually people come to resent the Sun Sentinel for it's brutal telemarketing tactics.  I have been ill with Cancer for over a year, enduring painful surgeries and it has been very difficult at times to move.

The Sun Sentinel will call sometimes 10 times per day.  Often times, I'm expecting a call from family or a surgeon or medical office only to go through the pain and discomfort of getting to the phone to see it's the Sun Sentinel.  I have fallen and hurt myself getting to the phone for a Sun Sentinel call hoping it was good news from a test or medical office.

When I asked them politely to remove me, the calls increased.

They are cold, cruel and heartless and could care less as long as you subscribe.  To them, it apparently doesn't matter what a person is going through.

I never will and all my family and friends are canceling after this brutal disrespect for a person who is already suffering.

By the way, they are protected somehow by using the "Freedonm of the Press" laws.  They are allowed to harass you to no end by law and they do it gleefully.  I feel the law should not allow freedom of the press at the expense of personal safety or privacy in your own home.

I set up a NEW telephone number and within 10 days started receiving harassing sales calls from Sun-Sentinel.  I experienced the same rude, unprofessional "customer service" employees that also hung up on me when I asked very politely to be removed.  I will never purchase their paper due to these harassing calls.  I had been a customer of theirs years ago when they also sent me to collections for a subscription to an address that I NO LONGER lived at!  Perhaps they should invest in better employees and respecting their prospective customers.

I have also been getting called excessively from (954) 414-7549.  I previously had a subscription from Sun Sentinel.  I don't even live in Florida anymore and they are still calling.  I'm moving back in two months.  And had it not been for these unwelcome and repeated calls, I would probably have renewed the subscription because I do read the paper.  However, after this, I can buy it at the store.

I did answer the call 3 times at first and told them that I moved away and would not physically be able to receive the paper.  I suppose this means that it is a different call center each time or that these responses are not logged.  These are just constantly rotating call lists.

Telemarketer
Several years ago I made the mistake of subscribing and giving my phone number to the Sun Sentinel here in FL.  They have given my number to several outside telemarketing companies who calls me non-stop through out the day.  I have asked them to remove me from the list but my request is ignored and they just keep calling. This time around their phone number is 954-414-7549.  Beware and be warned!  This newspaper uses external call centers who do not honor any request to be removed from their list.  I am even registered on the DO NOT CALL LIST.  That has not deterred them from calling me from morning to night.

Telemarketer
It is the Sun Sentinel. ( As you all are aware ). They have called me at least 6 times since 1/9/08. That is after I left them a message not to call as I do not live in Florida, I am on the do not call list. I do not even have a Florida #. I do not want or need their newspaper. Yesterday I went to the NATIONAL do not call web site and, filed a complaint. I also went to the FCC as you can also file a complaint there. I am not putting up with the BS anymore. I have tried to be nice to these guys and, tell them not to call and, why. I have been not so nice and, demand they do not call. Now they have pushed me to the limit and, it is all out war to get them to stop calling me.

Do you really believe these kids are underpriveleged and will go to college?  That's a scam, too.  An adult drives them around in a van and they go around collecting money, or selling some watered down cleaning products etc.
We also have a guy who blocks in your car as you load groceries in the parking lot, saying he and his family-- in the car with him-- need to get to _____ and he's embarrassed about asking, but... The second time this happened, I turned to him and said, "You tried this before and I didn't believe you. Figure out another way to get money, will you?" and he drove off.

This number calls three to four times per day for the past 3 weeks.  The caller id says "unknown name".  I'm going to pick up the next time and curse the telemarketer on the other end- those cowards!  What's the point of the do-not-call list if they just keep on calling without penalty?????  If this IS the sun sentinel, I haven't done business with them in years, so they are not legally able to call me.  They problem is, sometimes these business sidle up with other companies to "Co-sponsor" events, or they are a silent cash sponsor to some events that you might have gone to to been a part of.  In this case they sneakily are "legally" able to call you since you've "done business" with them in the recent past.  A-HOLES!

obviously they havent been arrested.  i just received a call again this morning 10/31/07.  first they call from a 'private caller' number.  when that call isnt answered they immediately call back from 954-916-8523. you can make a formal complaint with the federal trade commission.  they also recommend re-registering your number on the national do not call list.  www.donotcall.gov
anything is worth trying.  they dont stop calling.

I am getting the same calls from 954-916-8523. Did any of you sign a form and give a donation to kids coming door to door asking for help with money for college? I know people at the Sun-Sentinel, so I know that this is a real program to help kids BUT I think someone unscrupulous may have gotten ahold of the form or made their own version of it and are passing it off as the same thing just to get your information. When you call Sun-Sentinel to complain/report it - and you should - if you did sign the form, make sure you tell them about it. It would be a shame if a program to help underpriveleged school children get money for college was ruined by scam artists.

They call my fax machine at least 5 to 6 times a day. The number happens to be an old fax number so it just rings and then does not connect, but they drive me nuts with the ringing.  I have called the Sun Sentinel (which is the name that appears on the screen) and they have told me they would remove my nubmer from their dialing base, but to no avail.
