Woa...I'm guessing you must be the same fellow that gets upset with a potential customer - then hangs up when you don't get the result you want. May want to take a lesson in customer service and maybe a spelling class.

Tropical Getaways is for real! Just returned from a Florida vacation. Stayed in a beautiful condo for one week. Had to go to a 90 minute presentation. Looking forward to my Las Vegas trip! Saving the cruise for birthday! To stay at the beautiful condo for five days was worth the $700 that I paid for four trips!

(There are a bunch of others.)

The BBB rates him "F," and there is an alert on the BBB page re his operations:

"Our files contain a pattern of complaints from consumers alleging Discount World Vacations, Inc. misrepresents fees associated with their vacation packages. Other consumers allege high pressure sales tactics. While yet other consumers allege difficulty canceling vacation packages once a deposit has been made.

Discount World Vacations, Inc. has not responded to these consumer complaints.

On April 29, 2013, BBB sent certified correspondence to Discount World Vacations, Inc. requesting their voluntary cooperation in resolving complaints on file with BBB and providing steps it will implement to eliminate the pattern of customer complaints; however, as of today BBB has not received a response from the company."

http://www.bbb.org/south-east-florida/busines ... ood-fl-23005091#

I've noticed a lot of the people posting complaints are Canadians, so maybe he's playing the cross-border game with his trouble-prone "travel deals."

Stay away from this guy and his many, many "travel companies."     If you want to take a trip to Florida, take a hike down the block to your local travel agent and get a package from them.   That way, if you have a problem you know where to find them.   Otherwise, good luck finding Jon.

Oh, I so needed this laugh in a heat wave. Tell that to anyone who got mixed up with CIC/Triple Advantage, Columbia House, GGW Brands, Sensa, Video Professor, or an eBay seller who learned to dance outside its rules.

An "audio receipt"? Is that where a sample of me saying "yes" is pasted into clips of your design? Is that one of the dozen excuses you have cued up for the inevitable Buyer's Remorse?

Which is precisely why any business with a *bad* rating from the BBB is particularly alarming. It's so easy to get a great rating, businesses with a bad one are generally the worst of the worst.

The BBB is a joke. All one has to do to be a member and get a good rating is pay them! By using a credit card you are fully protected against any kind of fraudulent activity. Be smart people its 2013 and if you get ripped off its your own fault, and its because you didn't use a legitimate company like this one you have tried to defame. They create an audio receipt before you are even charged a dollar, and you get what you pay for.

Below is what i found on the BBB website about this "company". The BBB even said that this company is not a member of their organization and called them out on their lies.

Don?t Get Scammed Out of Your Vacation Getaway
1/27/2012

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ? January 27, 2012 ? With grey skies and winter months seeming endless, a great travel deal promising relaxation under a tropical sun can be very tempting. While many travel deals are legitimate, your Better Business Bureau receives complaints and inquiries every winter regarding unsolicited mail, emails and faxes offering free or discounted vacations through travel clubs or travel vouchers. The BBB is advising consumers to do their research and read all of the fine-print before signing up for a travel deal.

?Many times, scammers will utilize numerous methods of correspondence to try and convince consumers to claim their ?free? trip or getaway,? says Warren King, President of the Better Business Bureau of Western PA. ?It is important for consumers to gather as much information as possible about the business and ask questions before signing on the dotted line and submitting payment or sensitive financial information.?

Your BBB recommends the following tips to consumers who are looking to book a relaxing getaway through a travel club or voucher:

?Don?t feel pressured. Oftentimes, vacation scammers will use high-pressure sales tactics to make customers feel coerced into buying a ?limited-time? deal on the spot. A reputable business or travel company will provide any requested information and respect a consumer?s time frame for decision-making when deciding to book a vacation.

?Research before committing. Unfortunately, if an offer sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Before signing a contract or sending payment and sensitive financial information, check out the company?s BBB Business Review. Research the company?s name, address, phone number and website. Consider it a red flag if these pieces of information are not readily available.

?Pay with a credit card. To have the best protection against a dishonest travel company, elect to pay for your trip with a major credit card, as you may be able to dispute the charges if anything suspicious were to occur. It is important to confirm such policies with the credit card company before you charge anything though. Think twice before wiring any money, due to it being untraceable after being sent, much like cash.

?Obtain proper confirmation for your booking. Personally follow-up with the hotel, resort, cruise line or reservation that the travel company has booked for you, along with any other travel arrangements. Insist on receiving information other than a confirmation number provided by the travel company in order to verify your reservations were actually made.

?Ask lots of questions. Before signing on the dotted line, make sure all of the details and pricing have been clearly outlined in writing. Read the fine print and double check whether there are any hidden fees or charges that have not been covered. Ask about the company?s cancellation and refund policies.

My sister received a call from a 407 number and someone told her about 3 weeks of vacationing in Florida with all inclusive tickets and resort etc. for $500 which had to be paid up front. They called themselves tropical vacation getaways. So I googled it and found this website. After finding this website my sister got a call from the same number listed on here. 954-921-2800. We didn't answer and they called back again and again but never left a message on the voicemail.

My question to you is quite simple: What proof do you have of our company being a scam? HOW EXACTLY WERE YOU SCAMMED??? We are a legitimate and licensed company giving away Highly Discounted vacations!!! That's It!!!! Nothing more and Nothing Less!!! You are getting several vacations at a discounted price. This includes hotel stays to Orlando, Cocoa Beachand 2 Disney or Universal theme parks tickets(your choice)  which priced go for $60-80 each. Also there is Mexico and Las Vegas, 2 cruises to choose from as well upon a time share walk through. All of this is documented on a recorded line for both the client and the company's protection! The reason as to why the price change is beacause we can remove or change some of the vacation destinations to make it more affordable for some. PLEASE I ask, when you CHOOSE TO DEFAME A COMPANY BE SURE YOU STATE YOU EVIDENCE... FACTS!!!! What you are voicing is YOUR OPINION but your feelings are NOT FACTS and can cause consequences!!! PLEASE don't forget YOU WERE CALLED BECAUSE YOU ENTERED YOUR INFORMATION in a drawing TO BE CALLED for these Discounted vacations!!! We justed didn't magicly pull your information from a hat! Please be sure you have FACTS and PROOF prior to making these comments Especially since this is something YOU APPLIED FOR YOURSELF!!!!

Cannot believe I fell for it. Stupid.

Same situation: entered a drawing for a "free" trip to Florida.  They actually had a booth setup at our local Home and Garden show right at the entrance- thought it was a grand drawing for the show. 3 days later I get a call saying "I was one of 50 finalist out of 1000"  Turns out to be the same phone number they gave me.  First a women with a fast sales pitch, then a man that was pushy- same "word of mouth" advertizing crap.  Then insisting that I hold the trip with a $349 each deposit ($698 total).  If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.  They had me on the phone for at least 30 minutes.  They use your confusion over the "free trip" that turns out to be paying for taking a "guided tour" to take advantage.  I can imagine there are a lot of people who fall for this.

Told them I would not make that decision until I did some research on the internet on their company.  They tried to tell me that they could verify their legitimacy over the phone and again urged me to get my credit card out - at that point I just hung up.  They called themselves "Tropical Vacation Getaways" which looks to be a variation of what I'm seeing here.  I'm contacting the Mall and letting them know what is going on with this company, maybe they will at least bar them from setting up again at their mall.  It is a scam to advertise a free vacation then to use the names and phone numbers they collect to scam people.
