Thank you Chris.  I am so weary of these kinds of calls, especially on my cell phone.  Nice to know who is really calling and if they are trying to sell something.

A lady called to ask if I was accepting new clients. I asked her what firm she was with. and then I lied & explaimed to her I was with a client to shut her off. She stated she would call back and leave a message. 8-6-2010  1:40PM

Someone just called me from this number and said, "Do you work for Prudential Real Estate?" I said, "No" and she hung up on me. How dumb is that?

Received a call from this number on my cell phone and I let it go to voice mail.  The caller Aaron greeted my husband, (must not have listened to my voice mail greeting) saying he found his information on the internet and wanted to know if he was still in residential real estate.  He never identified a company and made it sound like he was looking for a residential realtor.  Thanks to the information here, I will not waste my time calling back.

I received a call from this number and a female asked for my husband by his first name.  I told her he was unavailable and might I help her with something ( I should have given her no information at all).  She hung up on me without answering my question.  I called the number and it had a fast busy.  I'm going to report the call because we are on the National Do Not Call list.

March 10, 2010 - Erica hung up on me as well.  Clearly, she has to meet a call quota but doesn't have a clue about how to try to make a sale.

The lady on the other end hung up when I told her that I am no longer in the business at the moment and I had another agent that she could talk with...WEIRD!

From this number, a voicemail message was left by a young woman identifying herself as Erica.  She inquired whether I was involved with residential real estate and, if so, accepting new clients.  The callback number given by her was 800-274-1299, x239.

That 800 number is www.realestateagent.com.  They will try to sell you on a subscription service to which they will direct interested buyers and sellers.

I am a residential real estate agent in South Carolina.  I didn't bother to call her back.  Though this offer will, at least, be less of a scam than selling you a list of leads (assuming that's not what they do), the result is the same:  The vast majority of subscribing agents will spend more on the service than they'll ever get in return.

Every year, surveys accomplished by the National Association of Realtors determine that approximately 2/3 of buyers and sellers use either an agent with whom they've previously done business or a referral from family, friends, or coworkers.

Take my advice, keep in touch with the people you know and remind them periodically what you do for a living.  The leads you get will be more frequent and dependable.
