It's a scam-they ask for a large sum of money up front, tnen string you along asking for more and more money until they finally send you a check. The check looks real but is worthless, and because of the high face value your bank will ask you to deposit it. When they find out the check is fraudulent, they will penalise you with stiff fines and maybe even jail time. Meanwhile the scammer has gotten away with your money.
Don't respond via phone or email-some scammers have the technology to put viruses/malware on your smartphone to steal your personal information.
