This is definitely a SCAM! My boyfriend recently received the same type of call from a company supposedly investigating currency fraud. They too had gotten his info after he applied for an online payday loan. However, he had never received any money and therefore knew the caller was a scammer. He has received repeated, harassing phone calls from a couple of people both with thick accents. You can easily double check any deposits in your bank account by going online or getting a print out from your bank. Once you give these people money it will most likely be gone (possibly overseas) and believe me they are NOT entitled to it.
If you ask, they won't know the amount they gave you, or when it was deposited. As someone said above, if they are legitimate, they can send you a hard copy bill with all the information.

Please don't allow them to take advantage of you! DON'T give them ANYTHING!

These calls have come from several different phone numbers--one was a 5 or 6 digit number which doesn't exist, one was a (610) area code, and one was an illinois area code (210 I think)...these scams likely change numbers or use scramblers all the time so the numbers likely change frequently.

Did you by chance apply for a payday loan? I did about 2 weeks ago. His flaw was that he said I accepted money from a payday loan establishment about 3 months ago. He Called me at work, threatened me that he would continue to call me at work over a 1000 times until I lost my job. He said is name was Officer Austin, that my case # CFI 150781 calling from a 719 418 0016. He cursed back at me, accused me of things that I had not done. He had my bank account name and number, he knew my address, where I work, and all my info... as I entered it into the payday loan website on the internet. I am calling the police and reporting the incident as well. People had told me in advance, be careful what you enter online. I wont ever apply for one of those things again in my life.

YUP!  I received a phone call from an Officer Anderson wanting my money now over the phone (ONLY) with case file #CFI 150781.  Checked with investigation departments and there was no such thing.  Remember, if you owe an entity money and have forgotten to pay they will send a hard copy to your home address to collect such funds.  I'm going to Police Department now to report them.

The person who identified themselves as "Office Eric Smith" from the "Department of Law and Investigations" left a voicemail today informing me I was going to be arrested and my employer was going to be notified of my failure to pay my debt. "I am in a position to help you and prevent your arrest but only if you call me today. My number is 970-344-3001. Only you can prevent your arrest and firing." I have filed an FTC complaint as well as tip through FBI website with info above.

I just received a call from Officer Denzil Anderson from the Dept of Law? saying I was being investigated for fraud.  He gave me case number CFI 150781 and said the call was being monitored by several state attorneys.  He wanted me to confirm the last four of my social, when I said I wasn't comfortable doing this over the phone (my cell phone no less), he said fine.  He would sign the affidavit and I could talk to the state police.  Very nerve-racking to say the least.

These calls are a scam.  Do not confirm any information.  If you can, write down the telephone number and time of day and then contact the local authorities.

I just received a call at work with a case number of  00635 BH.  He asked to confirm the last four digits of my social, which I did not and then he said my social security card will be terminated in 2 days-like that's going to happen.

If you owe monies to anyone, you will be contacted via mail.  These calls are scams and whatever you do, don't send any money or give out credit card information.

Yup, "Officer Flecther" with badge number 786052 called me as well. They told me I owed $900 or else they would turn my case, case #CFI150781, over to an attorney and threatened me saying I would need a high priced attorney in order to win this matter. As he was giving me all of the information I was googling it and reading some of the stuff that was being said about their numbers and case files. He was trying to explain away everything I was presenting him with. After I told him I was going to go to the police department and file a harrassment suit against them he began to threaten me saying he was going to have several detectives at my doorstep the next morning and would make my life hell. He also stated he was going to take my christmas and ruin it. These pieces of social sewage need to be stopped immediately!!!
