I received a call from this number today at 5:00 p.m & they have called me before so I saved their number as "off" because I have asked to be taken off the list on a prior date. So that I know this is not the first time they are calling. I say in a normal voice take me off the list this is the second time you have called me and I already said to take me off the list. So then he replys no this is the first time I am calling you. I say no it isn't & he begins to say "F*** you F*** off F*** your mother! etc." SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS NUMBER

I just got a call telling me that I am getting a grant of 8400.00 that I don't have to pay back, all I needed was to provide a bank account number or debit card number so they can transfer funds. I told them to just mail a check since they had my address already, and the foreign lady hung up

Same, got a call from this number saying the same thing as everyone else. When you try to call back, the call doesn't go through. They also redirected us to another number but we were on to them the whole time. I hope these criminals are brought to justice.

Government Grant Scams
Although government grant scams have been around almost as long as the government itself, the majority of the sites being advertised today didn't exist before the November 2008 election.
FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION WEBSITE
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt134.shtm
?Free Government Grants?: Don?t Take Them For Grant-ed
?Because you pay your income taxes on time, you have been awarded a free $12,500 government grant! To get your grant, simply give us your checking account information, and we will direct-deposit the grant into your bank account!?
Sometimes, it?s an ad that claims you will qualify to receive a ?free grant? to pay for education costs, home repairs, home business expenses, or unpaid bills. Other times, it?s a phone call supposedly from a ?government? agency or some other organization with an official sounding name. In either case, the claim is the same: your application for a grant is guaranteed to be accepted, and you?ll never have to pay the money back.
Don?t give out your bank account information to anyone you don?t know. Scammers pressure people to divulge their bank account information so that they can steal the money in the account. Always keep your bank account information confidential. Don?t share it unless you are familiar with the company and know why the information is necessary.
Don?t pay any money for a ?free? government grant. If you have to pay money to claim a ?free? government grant, it isn?t really free. A real government agency won?t ask you to pay a processing fee for a grant that you have already been awarded ? or to pay for a list of grant-making institutions. The names of agencies and foundations that award grants are available for free at any public library or on the Internet. The only official access point for all federal grant-making agencies is www.grants.gov.
Look-alikes aren?t the real thing. Just because the caller says he?s from the ?Federal Grants Administration? doesn?t mean that he is. There is no such government agency. Take a moment to check the blue pages in your telephone directory to bear out your hunch ? or not.
Phone numbers can deceive. Some con artists use Internet technology to disguise their area code in caller ID systems. Although it may look like they?re calling from Washington, DC, they could be calling from anywhere in the world.

Received call (on cell phone, which I don't give out) and could not understand woman, extremely heavy middle eastern accent. When I asked who did you say you are with. She said ok then and just kept talking. I let her talk until she said they needed my banking information to deposit this $8,400 grant from the president himself. I said to mail me the information; or have the president deliver it himself. She claimed they could not do that, they needed the information over the phone. I laughed and said if you think I am going to give you my bank account information over the phone you are not only crazy but an idiot. I said this is a scam and you are a criminal for trying to fraud people. She got mad and yelled for me to go somewhere really hot! I laughed and said at least I won't be alone, see you there.

This guy called and when I asked him to take me off his calling list he laughed and said "no," and that he would call me 10 times a day. When I asked what company he was with he laughed again and repeated that he would call me 10 times a day. Freaky. The caller ID listed it as a cell phone.

I receive several calls a day from this number. 970-589-4341. I never get a person on the other end its always a dead line. I have tried to call back and it says Verison....this number is no longer in service or has been disconnected. Ugh so aggravating!
| Rae Rae 2012-07-12 22:12:34 Unknown |
Do you know what we can do about this? I have gotten five calls today alone from these people, and as you stated when I call back it says " Welcome to Verizon Wireless the number you dialed has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service". How can these people do this?
