It's a debt collection agency. CMRE. If you're getting calls from these guys it's a bad bad sign.

They called me a couple of hrs ago and a prerecorded voice said if this is (my name) press 1. I did. Then it said if I was (my name) press 5. Wtf? I hung up. I believe they are a debt collector for a hospital and I do have medical debt. Hate dealing with these people.

You did the right thing! If they can't and won't tell you why they called, then its more then likely a scam call or telemarketer.

This number keeps calling but will not say who or why they are calling. Without me first suppling a ss#, date of birth and other personal information. So they in turn say that they are not allowed to say why they are calling without me providing private information. So we are at a stale mate.

I called the number it is a debt collector - CMRE.  They are a collection agency that works with health care providers and possibly others.

have received multiple calls from this number, as i do not answer unknown numbers, i have yet to have my own experience with it.  though judging from Amy and LIssa's description, i would advise not answering it.

My experience was the same as LIssa's. Only when I asked who it was he said "we have an important business matter with (my full name). Can you verify your date of birth" I said no and hung up. I am NOT going to give out my DOB without knowing who the company is and I advise that no one else does either.

Received a call from automated system at 10:30 am. The recording stated that if I was (my full name) I should hit numeral 1, I did, I was put on hold for a moment or two, and then a man answered. He gave his name, and quickly spewed out something and asked how he could help me. I said, "You people called me, I'm waiting to hear what you want." He disconnected without a word. This was not the first call received from this number, just the first time a human came on after being placed on hold, usually I get tired of waiting and hang up.

Tried calling it back, got put on hold then disconnected.  Telemarketer.  So much for the * Do Not Call List.
