Got this call on my cell phone then tried to call this number back on the land line but kept getting a message about this number not being allocated -- whatever that means

Have received multiple calls from IND SUR GROUP, from various numbers - most having a 971 area code.  The most recent was at 11:35 PM today.  Really getting tired of it.

Got a call from IND SUR GROUP as well but the number that showed up on my Caller ID was 971-208-9960. I blocked the number.

I'm really tired of getting calls from this number.

You have the right idea: Complain to FCC on their website, without giving them your #-- you don't want these sociopaths getting it and "punishing" you forever.  Also, all your members of Congress, on their websites!

You're very right about complaining somehow to the various phone cos.---ie, ATT, Verizon, Sprint, etc., as they are the ones providing #s, and possibly equipment and permission to enable these calls, plus making money from them.  Also, a general complaint to US FCC might help, if enough people do so. Never answer or talk to them, it only encourages them. They are sociopaths in any event!

This is a pure scam.

First, they scam to get around Do Not Call registry because they fake ask an irrelevant political question.

Next, they scam you directly by offering a "free" cruise, for which you must pre-pay a dock fee per person.

This "IND SUR GROUP", as it shows up on caller ID as, is only out to make money by scamming people for a "free" product that never existed.

This "IND SUR GROUP" also uses many different phone numbers, 4+ that I have personally received calls for so far (not all listed below), which are usually from different area codes. A quick search on Google shows many more numbers from this same group.

And finally, this "IND SUR GROUP" does not accept calls on the numbers caller ID shows. For every number it has called from, it just answers all numbers with the exact same message which is spoken by a woman with a non-US accent (British or possibly computer generated). The message says only that the number is temporarily unavailable, but this is not a phone company's message.

I believe these calls began after replying to an ad on Craigslist which turned out to be a scam.

What happened to "for the people and by the people"?  If enough of us complain, our government, whomever is in office, will take notice.  But most of us only complain to one another and throw rocks instead of calling and flooding the phone lines of our congressmen and women.
If ya want a change do something about it.   What ever party is in, they are still people with thier own agendas, we are still the people who make the votes, so make a difference!
I never answer my cell phone, which is a go phone and limited minutes, unless I know who is calling.
Same for my Magic Jack number.

You know what - forget the FCC. I find the Canadian equivalent just as useless. I get these types of calls - in spite of the fact that I live in Canada. I don't answer any numbers that do not identify themselves on my land line caller ID. I always look up where the area code originates from.

I think that everyone should file a class action lawsuit against the phone providers that do not carefully check who they are registering these phone numbers to, and allowing them them to use them.  Maybe then the FCC and the CRT would wake up - and finally do something.

I was getting calls from Turkey at one point.  They were calling at all hours - as late as 11:30 pm - calling sometimes within minutes of the previous call.  One time I actually answered on a Saturday afternoon, and could hear a lot of people talking in a foreign language - sounded like a chaotic family.  I was upset after being woken up so many times, and told them number of times to f##$%$#k off, and then slammed the phone.  Probably didn't do any good, but I felt better.

yes there seens no way to stop these stupid a-- h--es from calling  for what reason do these stupid ones call ?  seens to me to see who is calling  and press end or eject   these  a--s .   seens to be the only way

Got a call. Some help or a reminder if this has not already been posted.

We purchased a single Panasonic portable phone with Call Blocking about 1 yr ago. It is GREAT. You can easily save the number from these calls and the next time they call they are automatically blocked after one (yes one) ring (I do not know if they get a "number disconnect tone" or not). This has dropped the number of calls to virtually 0 (zero). The only limitation is you can only save 30 numbers. Once we exceed that number we delete the oldest ones.

We have also alerted bonfide people (e.g Big Brothers, Diabetes, etc) that will will no longer accept calls without caller ID identifying their organization. If we do not recognize the phone number we will add them to our Blocked List. Sad it has come to this.

Other have recommended this approach and we can confirm it works!

we can all call donotcall.gov at 888-382-1222 press 2 then 1 it's all automated and state  that this is a scam that says it's a political survey but switches immediately to try and get your credit card number saying you won a cruise...the same caller id used a 503 area code as well

Canadians surely don't vote on the American election, but some of us would like to vote for the next American Idol ;)  I got a call from this number yesterday as well.  I don't pick up on any unfamiliar number, but by the looks of all the reports here on this number, I'd swear they called every number they had on the same day. :(  I'm sick of all the different numbers that call my home too!

I got this call last night at 8:15 on my cell no ID or msg but earlier I had a call on my cell with no number but the ID was 92300. What kind of scam is being cooked up now?   So far this month, I've received over 20 unwanted calls.  It's not the government employees that are overdosing on stupid pills, it's the lawmakers that are because they're the ones that need to rethink the DCNR and the employees to carry out their jobs.  I have contacted my State Attorney General's office about these calls and shortly after a local station aired a piece that indicated the government can't keep up with the ever changing rotation phone numbers from these scammers and marketeers.  We can all thank the phone companies for that.  Take action and contact your SAG and local media.

Probably can add the senior medical alert, Medicare, google search ranking scams ... and probably many others too! When it comes to the obvious, they really are out there! Sadly, they are so clueless that they probably aren't aware we can smell their little scam(s) many, many miles away!

I've gotten 4 calls from this number just this week...and it's only Tuesday. When "Sarah" started her pitch about the cruise, I stopped her to inform her that I did not own a credit card now, nor will I in the near and distant future, but that I certainly was interested in that "Independent Survey" she mentioned at the beginning of the call. She stammered for a minute, then told me she had to put me on hold...That was 9 hours ago. Should I still be holding, or would hanging up be appropriate? I certainly wouldn't want to hurt her feelings and not be there when she picks back up.<<<ARGH>>>>
