They probably got your phone number from a random trawl through the telephone book. A lot of people have computers at home these days, so their hit rate would be very high.

Prank Call
Woke me up on the only day I have had a chance to sleep-in for months.  Indian guy claimed my IP address is pinging all over and a scammer has accessed my account and he wanted to help me.  I told him it did not sound right, my internet provider would not have a third party contact me.  He said contact your provider then and I will call you back in a few days.  He even gave me his supposed agent I.D.#.  I contacted  my provider who said there was no problem with my account.  I hope this little freak does call me back.  I might just have some fun with him.

He did have my family name though which is strange.

I got a call from an Indian guy who called me by my name and identified himself as "Jimmy". He asked me if I was at my computer at the moment he called. I recognized it was a SCAM and told him that he got a wrong number and that I had no computer (I lied).

My husband received a call from a "Jimmy" a while ago who told him that he was calling from Microsoft and that my computer had a virus. My husband doesn't know anything about computers and handed the phone over to me. Amazingly, I had a virus problem in my computer but I was able to resolve the problem following instructions from Nero website just minutes before the call. I told the guy (also with Indian accent) that my problem was resolved and I hang up. I was wondering if he was responsible for the virus to make me go to my computer and do wherever he wanted me to do.
Anyway, I always hung up when I don't recognize the caller.

I just got a call from this number.  Woman with India accent told me she was from "Windows."  She asked if I have a Windows computer.  I told her it sounded like a scam call.  She hung up.  I tried to report it, but the government is shut down today.

I received a call from "HomeSecurity" at 9:00pm from a gentleman with a heavy Indian accent telling me he was calling from India and that he received messages about potential viruses on my computer through the Windows operating system.  Since I coincidentally had some work done recently on a computer in my home, I asked what he wanted. He asked me if my computer was on, as if he was going to walk me through some process, and that's when I told him I didn't trust him or his call.  I told him to remove me from his list and that I was going to report his number to the authorities.  I decided to first look the number up and found this post.  Be careful folks.  Not sure what this guy was going to do - upload a virus?  But whatever it was, it wasn't going to be good.  Saw on other posts that some folks reported the call to their local police departments and to FCC.gov. Think I'll do the same.

Got a call today - hung up when I answered - tried to call the number back - was a number that had been disconnected.  Blocked the number.  Unfortunately, they use various numbers, so doubt that number will be used again and blocking does little good to keep these calls from coming.  Calls to both house and cell phone.

These scammers called and wanted access to my computer.  I played along and told him I was rebooting my computer and for him to wait.  I kept him on the phone for about 30 minutes and made up a bunch of BS about how the computer was so messed up it took forever to boot.  At the end I give him a piece of my real mind.  Losers.

11 September 2013
T-Mobile Customer Relations
P.O. Box 37380
Albuquerque, NM 87176-7380

To T Mobile:
On 10 September 2013 from 18:02 until 19:18 I received at least 24 criminal, unwanted, threatening, and harassing telephone calls on my T Mobile phone +++++++++ Over the past 6 months I have received roughly 50 similar calls, but never 24 of them in 80 minutes. The other 50 calls have come at all times of the day and night, including repeatedly waking my family in the middle of the night. I now have to keep my phone turned off at night because of these harassing calls.  I repeatedly ask these callers to not call me and tell them that I am on the National ?Do not call? list, and did so again on at least 10 of these calls last night. I suspect that they come from spoofed numbers which are giving false numbers to my caller ID. The purpose of these calls is to trick me into giving the personal information by allowing them to access to my computer either for the purpose of them misusing my computer, possibly to steal my financial information to steal from me, or possibly to get access to sensitive information that I may have as a ???????????????????? worker. I suspect that the reason that they kept calling back over and over this time, was that I may have upset them by keeping them on hold for a long time and giving them the initial impression that I was going to give them access to my computer when I had no intention of actually doing so. While they were unsuccessful in harming me or the ????????????? in this attack, they sound like they call person after person until they are successful. They would not continue to do this unless some of the people that they call do fall for their ruse. Stopping them from continuing to do this will prevent significant theft or significant espionage, possibly both.

All of these calls are from males and females with what sounds like Indian accents (last night was always the same male), who tell me that they are calling from Microsoft because there is a problem with my computer and they want to help me fix it. They ask me to go to my computer. I do not know what they will ask next because I never let them get further than that. This time my caller Id said these calls came from 14254069022 (7 calls), 19712179508 (5 calls), 19712179514 (5 calls), 12063971127 (4 calls), 19712179518 (3 calls).

On prior occasions, they have called from 10999100119, 109999100119, 10234567890, 15126104761, 12064560661, 0000000000, 1284678, 284678 and others.

I previously filed a complaint to the Honolulu police (cannot recall complaint number), and did so again on 10 September, with HPD complaint report number ????????????????????

T Mobile needs to work with The Honolulu police and any other agency that can investigate this matter (perhaps FBI, national security agencies, and/or Interpol) to punish these criminals and prevent them from harming and harassing others. While I have no way to determine where the calls are actually originating from, T Mobile have the technology to do so.  Calling after being not to call, calling from spoofed numbers which gives me no way to identify them or call them to demand that they stop calling, and attempting to gain access to my computer and personal information under false pretenses, are all illegal acts.
I have now added the new numbers to my call blocking list, but since they keep calling from different numbers (or are spoofing different caller IDs), I expect that these calls will continue.

Recieved call from 1 971-217-9508, caller has a deep Indian accent and hard to understand.  Claims that his firm is receiving spam from my computer.  He called back at least 10 times and I hung up each time after which he left a nasty message saying I was a women in a man's body.

I had trouble with System Mechanic a few months ago and their tech support tried to pull a scam letting me know that I am sending spam as well.  They want access to ypur computer and claim that for additional dollars they will give you an unpadated version of Sys. Mech.  I believe these calls are all being made from their offices in an attem[t to sell upgrades to ttheir program.  Best answer to them would simply be to say "I DO NOT HAVE A COMPUTER AND DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW YOU GOT MY NUMBER," and hang up

Knew from the start it was a scam. Felt bored so I egged that dumbass on as much as possible before letting him know I could care less and not give a s***. Hung up on the poor b*****d. Now the sad part...
I called the number on the caller id back to see if I'd get the guy on the line again. Went to voicemail where it said that the real owner of the number had his number hacked and apologizes. Give a taste of retribution for this guy and tell people that if they receive a call from this indian accented fool to chew him out like the scum he is. Alex White..can't even come up with a fake name to save himself if his life depended on it.

Same thing. Guy with thick Indian accent named "Morgan" called and said my Windows computer has been hacked and has been sending out viruses. I asked him how he knew this and called me, he said that when I registered my Windows program, I gave my phone number.

So at that point I advised him he was calling me at my cottage in Northern Ontario where I don't have a computer, Internet or even cell phone service. There was a long pause until I said "You sound legit though, Morgan. How about you give me access to your computer and when I get back to work at my office as I work in the fraud Dept with the RCMP (I don't work for RCMP)  we'll see if we can't straighten this out." The "click" of him hanging up was very satisfying!!!!

Received a call from them this morning. The lady wanted to access my computer because I had a virus. When I told her I was a computer technician she hung up on me. She was speaking English and had an Indian accent and as I am a French Canadian I found it suspicious to receive an English call from a technical support. Don't ever give them access to your computer. It's a scam.

I receive calls from this number 971-217-9508 at least once a week.  It is normally a India man and they say they are calling because they were informed I was having back and joint pain.  I keep telling them to not call that I am very health and then they laugh and repeat what I say very sassy then hang up.  On the caller ID it says homesecurity.

Called me just shy of 7:00a.m. this morning to report that I was sending out viruses on my home PC. I laughed as I knew right away it was a scam......I don't have internet on that computer. Once I told her that she said 'but this is a Windows operating problem, we need you to turn on your computer so we can help you.' I laughed again and said 'it's pretty difficult to be having any issues when I haven't even turned it on in 6 months. Don't ever call me again because I know this is a scam.' Click
