Got a call from a lady with a Jamaican Accent to my number this morning as well.  She said she worked at an unintelligible software company and that my Microsoft Computer had a virus.  She asked me if it was off or on.  (I lied and said "off" since I have innumerable computers and some are off).  I kept asking her which company and she mumbled some more (it was 7 AM here and we have Global BCP testing going on... but did not tell her this))
After frustration and shaky info (she kept calling me a male "Ma'am") I hung up and tried to go back to sleep.  Upon waking for my next real life meeting, I tried to put the number into the report for numbers calling a number on the Do Not Call list and the website for do not call and it said its down due to the shutdown.  WHAT.  The shutdown is over and automated websites need no people so no need to shut down the site!! Well knowing this red tape, I expect the DO NOT CALL website to be up by 9 or 10 AM.

THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO ME.  THE MAN ASKED TOO MANY PERSONAL QUESTIONS ABOUT MY COMPUTERS AND I WANTED ME TO TURN IT ON.  WHEN I REFUSED TO COOPERATE WITH HIS SCAM AND ASKED HIM TO TAKE ME OFF THE LIST.  HE TOLD ME " HE  REALLY HOPED THAT I WOULD HAVE A NICE LIFE".  HE HAS MY ADDRESS AND MY PHONE NUMBER AND I FEEL THREATENED BY THIS LOSER.

Yep!   received a call from this number.  Scammers they are!   Wish the police could locate them.   Hope there aren't naive people who get caught up with this but since this has been going on for years, there must be.   Warn your family and friends.

A call came in from 971-217-9514. When I answered a recording came on telling me my health insurance is due to expire (today is 9/25/2013) my insurance has to be in place by 12/7/2013 and to hit the number "1" to talk to someone about extending my health insurance. I just hung up the receiver.

Just got my second call from the 917 area code with the same spiel that my computer is infected.  This time I said "How interesting.  I don't have a computer." (Not true)  He stammered and said "Are you sure?  Didn't you recently buy a laptop?"  I said "No" and he hung up.   I really did purchase a Toshiba laptop a few months ago.  Could someone be selling my info?

This is a scam all the way. For those of you that don't understand how they got your number, well... duh... they are randomly dialing and are spoofing the caller ID name and number.  If you want to have fun, pretend to do what they ask you to do on your computer. They are trying to get you to provide them access to it, so don't actually do what they ask!  Keep them on the line as long as you can. Screw with them - they are trying to screw you!  I am a database security engineer and simply love to mess with these idiots. LMAO !

11 September 2013
T-Mobile Customer Relations
P.O. Box 37380
Albuquerque, NM 87176-7380

To T Mobile:
On 10 September 2013 from 18:02 until 19:18 I received at least 24 criminal, unwanted, threatening, and harassing telephone calls on my T Mobile phone +++++++++ Over the past 6 months I have received roughly 50 similar calls, but never 24 of them in 80 minutes. The other 50 calls have come at all times of the day and night, including repeatedly waking my family in the middle of the night. I now have to keep my phone turned off at night because of these harassing calls.  I repeatedly ask these callers to not call me and tell them that I am on the National ?Do not call? list, and did so again on at least 10 of these calls last night. I suspect that they come from spoofed numbers which are giving false numbers to my caller ID. The purpose of these calls is to trick me into giving the personal information by allowing them to access to my computer either for the purpose of them misusing my computer, possibly to steal my financial information to steal from me, or possibly to get access to sensitive information that I may have as a ???????????????????? worker. I suspect that the reason that they kept calling back over and over this time, was that I may have upset them by keeping them on hold for a long time and giving them the initial impression that I was going to give them access to my computer when I had no intention of actually doing so. While they were unsuccessful in harming me or the ????????????? in this attack, they sound like they call person after person until they are successful. They would not continue to do this unless some of the people that they call do fall for their ruse. Stopping them from continuing to do this will prevent significant theft or significant espionage, possibly both.

All of these calls are from males and females with what sounds like Indian accents (last night was always the same male), who tell me that they are calling from Microsoft because there is a problem with my computer and they want to help me fix it. They ask me to go to my computer. I do not know what they will ask next because I never let them get further than that. This time my caller Id said these calls came from 14254069022 (7 calls), 19712179508 (5 calls), 19712179514 (5 calls), 12063971127 (4 calls), 19712179518 (3 calls).

On prior occasions, they have called from 10999100119, 109999100119, 10234567890, 15126104761, 12064560661, 0000000000, 1284678, 284678 and others.

I previously filed a complaint to the Honolulu police (cannot recall complaint number), and did so again on 10 September, with HPD complaint report number ????????????????????

T Mobile needs to work with The Honolulu police and any other agency that can investigate this matter (perhaps FBI, national security agencies, and/or Interpol) to punish these criminals and prevent them from harming and harassing others. While I have no way to determine where the calls are actually originating from, T Mobile have the technology to do so.  Calling after being not to call, calling from spoofed numbers which gives me no way to identify them or call them to demand that they stop calling, and attempting to gain access to my computer and personal information under false pretenses, are all illegal acts.
I have now added the new numbers to my call blocking list, but since they keep calling from different numbers (or are spoofing different caller IDs), I expect that these calls will continue.

I got a call -- my grandson napes in the afternoon.  The phone scares him when it rings.  They call & can't leave a message.  That is crap for one.  My daughter answered the phone & they didn't say a word.  You can still hear the other person on the line.  Then who ever it was; hung up & didn't say anything.  I call the phone # back & left a message on not to call here again.  If you don't have the decency to leave a message; then don't call here again.  I am sick & tired of people calling & not leaving a message.  You call back & the party can' be reached or it says it's a disconnected phone #.  Especially at 8:55pm.

Just got a call from this number.  Guy's English was very poor with heavy accent. I kept asking "what? what? " :) and it threw him off so he couldn't say the  sentence that would make any sense. Also I heard woman's voice in the background.. Anyway I hung up and report it at "Do Not Call" website

Received a call on my land line at 4AM from 971-217-9514 . I raced to answer the phone by the third or fourth ring, hoping to save anyone else in the residence from being awakened. I said hello and waited for a response for some time yet there was no reply. I realized the call was likely a call center or scam very quickly but hey, now I am awake and not going to miss the opportunity to waste his or her time.

Caller ID shows 1-971-217-9514 which a quick search showed as being from Oregon. I live in the same time zone as Oregon.

Consider having the non-emergency number of a law enforcement agency handy and ask an obvious scam caller to call you right back on that number, stating that it is your cell number. Tell them the land is in a corner of the room or building but your cell phone is next to your wallet/checkbook/computer or whatever they hope to get from you.

They're back.  I just got off the phone after receiving a call from "Microsoft" threatening that my computer had been infected and that he could solve it for me.  Just let him take control.  NOT.

I live out in the country (Prince Edward County, Ontario) and the phone is not in my name.  Go figure!

I got a call from "Mary" who would not identify the company she was calling from besides saying it was the "Windows Anti-Hacking Dept."  I told her I was on a national do-not call list but that didn't do anything to stop her, so I told her I had not had a Windows-based computer in 20 yrs.  She said that she would cancel my Windows IP -- I asked her what this meant since I didn't have a windows machine --  again, she didn't explain but was very aggressive in saying that was wrong and that I had a windows-based computer in my home (I do not).  I asked what number she was trying to reach and she gave my name and number.  I asked her again what company she was with and after repeating the Windows Anti-Hacking..., she said the name was Best Care and that she was in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.  Could hear lots of other people talking in the background, so probably a well-organized scam.  I told her I was going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and hung up.

What a scary scam!!

Received a call at 8:20 am, 08/23/2013 from this number. Caller ID claimed Top Googlepages. It was a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from Windows support and that I had a virus on my computer. I've had numerous calls from this same bunch of scammers in the past but this was the first time the number came up on the ID.

A few weeks ago when one of them called telling me I had a virus and they could remotely fix it, I asked him what was my IP address  and what Windows' version was I running....should have been easy for him to know, if he could remotely determine I had a virus. The guy got all kinds of upset over those questions. BEWARE....these idiots are nothing but scammers looking to infect your computer!!!

It's actually comical. The accent is so thick it was nearly impossible to understand him. I have to believe whoever is paying these people to make these calls is losing money on it, because it's unlikely that even a 6 year old child would talk to him.

I would be curious (but not curious enough to find out) to know exactly what he is looking for assuming there was somebody in the world gullible enough to talk to him.

Got a call from this number 971-217-9514 tonight. Caller ID said TopGoogle Pages. I answered, at first there was a lot of background noise (talking) and when he finally came on the line he said in a heavy accent something about my Windows computer blah blah blah. I said we're Apple and hung up. I will report them as the other poster suggested several times. Definitely a scam.
