Again, they called yesterday - 9/27.  As someone else stated, the caller ID showed VO9271303070063.  I Googled that and no results.  I was out all day yesterday, and there were 5 telemarketing calls shown within the space of one hour.  As the DNC Registry seems incapable of doing anything, does anyone know of another Government Agency that can stop these people?

Sy, don't be so quick to judge others as "dim wits", because your comment is absolutely invalid. I DON'T pick up any calls I don't recognize for the past nine months or so. This means I really don't have a landline I can use as I please, because of the number of calls I get every single day, and night, I have put my recorder on two rings so the sound won't drive me crazy. After about three or four months of that I have become acclimated to it. I don't even run in to see if I know the caller or not anymore, I just ignore it. Twenty to thirty calls a day, some numbers have been the same for months, many are new or changed numbers, but all from the same scammers. Construction companies with energy upgrade estimates, better credit card rates, overseas meds, free money if you send them some first, and more.
DNC doesn't work, Verizon doesn't even have live operators to complain to anymore, nor do they care. The only way to reach a live person is to tell them you want to upgrade, but when you tell them why you're really calling they flick you off to no-man's land.
My point is that your advice stinks. They will keep calling whether you pick up or not, so if I were inclined to call complete strangers names I might be inclined to suggest that it is you who are the "dim-wit".

I've had the exact same experience. So this time I waited to talk to an operator. When I told him that I had pressed 3 repeatedly, he hung up on me. When I try to call back, a recording of a woman's voice with a British accent says the number is "temporarily unavailable."

Called at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. I was asleep and rushed to answer it thinking it was an emergency, but after 2 rings they hung up. Very annoying.

My experience is the same as all commented here.  Another call this morning; I didn't pick up, but they went into my voice mail. Same message of press 3, etc.  Since it went into VM they know it's a live number. I've complained to Vonage, but they don't block calls, unless the caller blocks the caller ID. That's a crock, because those come through also.  The DNC is also a crock.  I'm willing to join you all and file class action suits against these people.  I live in NYC.  My next step is to answer, wait to speak to a "live" person and then blow my police whistle in the phone.  If you do this, be sure to remove the phone from your own ear.  It won't stop these scumbags, but will put some of their telemarketers out of business for a while.

I get these calls all the time, on all my phones.  Once I spoke to someone and just had some fun.  I used a prepaid debit card as the card I need help with...it had .40 left on the balance.  They tried over and over again to help me.  I let them go.  They then had me call on 3 way with a number to help me get the interest rate lowered.  The number I told them to call was a phone sex line.  Comical to hear them call and have the phone sex line answer.  I said, wow, that is odd...and proceeded to give them another phone sex number.  Again, they fall for it.  Comedy.  I had some time to kill, and I let them think they had me sold to get a commission...sorry, buddy.  Next time, it's the air horn.

Here's what I have done, in the past, and it has worked a couple of times on a couple of other phone numbers.  It takes a little investment of time on your part.  I act interested and go along with their pitch to lower my interest rates.  The last one wanted me to get my latest bill  That happened to be upstairs and she waited as I got it.  Of course, I took my time.  Then she wanted to know what my interest rate is and that took a little time to find that on my bill and she had to help me.  And then she asked if I had my credit card nearby and, of course,  I had to go out to the counter where I keep that stuff.  That took a little time.  And then she wanted my Credit Card Number.  I told her that I do not give that out to anybody.  She hung up on me ~(:-)))

In the past I've done this with the Security Alarm calls and anothr credit card "scam" with a different phone numbers.  I didn't get any calls from the credit card scam for over a month.  It's been a couple of weeks since I've raceived any calls from theSecurity Alarm calls.

Try it. It may work.  I realize not everybody can spend the time but it does seem to work.

Have received numerous calls and have asked them to stop calling.  Have also pressed '3' to discontinue notices.   Seems like we get about four calls a week.  Please STOP!  Have asked who they represent so that I can report them for calling a number on the No Call List.  They immediatly hang up.

CID said Lower Interest. I never answer any calls unless I know who's on the other end. Disconnected answering machine and just let it ring. Same creeps just a different number, they have many. I don't answer any of them. Between these idiots and the robo-political calls, that's all I get on my landline. Time to ditch it I think.

I always answer.

The robocall states, "Card holder services", a nice "generic" name.

I know it's FRAUD, because I DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE CREDIT CARD AND I WILL NEVER GET/USE ONE AGAIN IN THE FUTURE (the true ramifications of this not-admitted DEPRESSION).!

Even with a selection option of "3" to be removed, I select "1".

Then, I wait until someone asks me if I was calling about lowering my interest rate.

I answer, "yes".

THEN, I SCREAM AS LOUDLY AS I CAN INTO THE PHONE, "F*** U!" and hang up.

Maybe they'll go deaf if enough of us do so.  How would you like your job is people screamed swear words into your ear(s) all day long?

One of my favorite posts was someone who blows a FOGHORN into the phone:)

NOTE:  This was *not* the robocall from "Ann" or the robocall from "Rachel".  Those two robocalls do not even have a "3" to be removed

They won't stop calling us.  Try to get credit card number.  Scam for sure.  My phone company, CenturyLink (old Quest), refuses to block this number unless I pay them. Crappy organization ever since they changed from being Mountain Bell.  I wonder if they have ever considered this could be one reason they are loosing so many land line subscribers?

10:37am today they called from 971-220-1787.  I pressed "3" to discontinue the calls.  As I suspected, but hoped not, pressing "3" merely verifies it is a live number.  Less than an hour later they called back:

11:21am today they called from 971-220-1783.

They have also called from 360-474-3904 on previous days.  I did not pick up then, but merely screened the call as the answering machine picked up.

Do not pick up the phone for these numbers.  Usually I don't but I had a weak moment of actually believing the 'remove from the list' system might be legit.  Woe to me for my own stupidity.  I will continue to record these phone messages, log them carefully, and plan my lawsuit per the advice of some others here.

Really, phone subscribers need to pressure their providers to stop these calls.  The phone service providers enable these crooks, sell them phone lists, and also limit the ability to block phone numbers so that these scumbuckets get the most hits possible and the recipients of these calls cannot do much about them.

We moved into a number that received up to 17 of such calls a DAY, even though we were on the DNC list.  We insisted that Comcast change our number at no cost.  They had also published our number without asking us.  We pay a monthly fee to have an unlisted number.  We have told them it is our intention to drop our landline completely if they do not find a way to prevent these calls.  It can be done.  A previous phone service provider offered a service that made all callers except for a select few favorites to enter digits by hand to get the call completed... this eliminated all robocalls from ringing and we were not bothered.

Honestly, we are so sick of the criminal cabal corporatocracy that sells out paying customers at every turn, undermines privacy, and generally laughs all the way to the bank.  We citizens really need to start hitting the corporates where it hurts... the bottom line... when they do such things as sell our numbers and info to harrassers.  Oh, and BTW, it is not just limited to corporations...  many state governments sell driver license/registration info to marketers and whomever else!  Amazing but true.  Search on it.

...and while you are searching, search "Stellar Wind" and look for the article in Wired magazine.  Citizens desiring privacy should LOVE that.  LOL.  Good luck.

I've also rcv'd this lower interest call REPEATEDLY in last few months.  stayed on the line to ask for removal, called number back and entered for removal request, went on to Comcast's site and tried setting prefs to not accept blocked or anonymous calls, NOTHING WORKS.  Then just a couple weeks ago, my Ma got scammed out of some 'Mother Warranty' for her computer.  Another telemarketer cold call.  something can be done, SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!!   I will no longer accept from Comcast, or whomever that 'NOTHING WORKS'   They get these numbers to call from somehow, right?  grrrr i will not stop til someone DOES SOMETHING
this is what my caller ID said:    V091216250003
number called from is 971 220 1783

All you did by pressing "3" is verify your number as "good" for future calls from dozens of other "companies".
