They're part of a larger scam going under the names of PacTel and Pacific Telecomm=both fake. They are already under investigation and the FTC can and will track where the calls are being generated from. Each report strengthems the case against these scumbags. Get even and turn them in!

And if you scumbags happen to be reading this- you can't violate international trade agreements and hide in India, pal. You're connecting through American communication systems that can track you down. For the right price someone is going to betray you.

I have done exactly this! Given them fake credit number and other info, and kept them online for about 10 minutes.  When I finally revealed what I'd done, I suggested they quit calling or I'd keep wasting their time if they did.  I did this about 2 months ago.  I've only gotten 2 calls since then.  Before that I was getting 4-5 a week.

These are just annoying telemarketers who move around and use either bluff my call or use disposable/untraceable numbers, no use wasting your breath on the idiots, they just swear at you or hang up so just invest in a nice loud whistle or airhorn and see how their eardrum likes that! At least you'll have a nice laugh while their ears are ringing!

Sadly, nothing works other than paying extra to block specific numbers. NO NOT CALL is useless because breaking the law is not a problem for these bottom feeders.

It won't work and all you did was confirm for them that they reached a "good" telephone number, ie a number connected to a live person who is also willing to fall for their tricks.

I received yet another call from these scam artists this morning (1138 hrs.) Prerecorded message from "Rachel of Card Holder Services" calling about my credit card but that there was nothing wrong with my account but I had to contact them about lowering my interest rate, yadda, yadda, yadda. In the past, I've pressed the number to be removed with no success. I've told them directly to remove my number because I'm on the DNC. They don't care. This time when I pushed the number to talk to someone I asked her why they persist in calling people who are on the do-not-call list. She was laughing and making some comment to someone other than me as she hung up the phone in my ear. I've reported these people to the FCC repeatedly and I never have any luck because the FCC is less than worthless when it comes to enforcing their own laws. By the way, if it isn't already obvious, these people are NOT from your credit card company and you'd be an idiot to give them ANY information about you, your credit cards, or your financial situation. Anyone who blatantly and repeatedly ignores the DNC is obviously NOT looking out for your best interest.

This is an automated calling system that keeps calling trying to sell some type of credit card consolidation. If you press the prompt and try and talk to a real person, they hang up on you as soon as they here you do not have over $3000 on credit card debt that you want to consolidate. They call several times a week.

Another call today regarding lower interest rates from 971-220-1966.  I listened long enough to hear that by pressing "3" I can remove my phone # from future calls.  We'll see if that works.............

Received the call, answered this time, dialed 3 to opt out of future calls, nothing happened, dialed 1, got a live agent to reduce my credit card balances, blah blah blah.  I asked her to remove my number from their call list, she hung up on me.  I turned around and filled out a complaint form on the Do Not Call website with the information they ask for on these computer generated calls, which are not legal regardless whether you are on the DNC list or not.  Complaint forms have to be filled out in order to stop these unwanted calls.

Someone actually interested in catching these cooks, should create a site with lists of completely fake ids to deliberately supply these scammers with misinformation, that when used will report these operations directly to the authorities.  Problem is once put online, the crooks will also know which numbers to not call back.

So, if all else fails, supply the id of your local police chief.  Seriously, well not really*.

Since you must identify yourself when reporting any sort of crime, or potential crime, only the authorities would know who blew whistle, and it will prevent fraudulent whistle blowers from overloading their resources.

*Hopefully you'd furnish a fake id, not your chief's real info, one your local law enforcement agency supplies to you personally, to use on next spam caller.  Once used, the location and id of the crook is easy for them to determine.

Really want to stop cybercrime? Make it worthwhile.  Heck if got $10 everytime I reported a phony phisher call - either the government would go broke, and i'd get rich, or they'd seriously find the outlaws.

Face it, the real victims are not one reading these web sites, or even well connected beyond their land lines.

I received a call from this number on 10/27 at 10:30 AM. I didn't answer when I saw the number on the Caller ID display. As others have posted - this is highly likely a scam...

I'm a retired Police Officer, and as such let me advise readers - NEVER give any personal and/or financial information to someone like these people. No matter how hard they press you to do so. They use smoke & mirrors, and whatever they think will get information out of you - don't fall for it!

And to those of you who don't have Caller ID, let me suggest you get it ASAP! It's worth the price...

ditto !...Ditto !!...DITTO !!!
The SAME Credit Crap pitch!  And I, like a stupid idiot, have done all others have done to get them
to STOP CALLING...INCLUDING, of course, reporting it to the Federal Do Not Call List (on which ALL
of our phones are registered)  AND, the menus which you must wade through to make a complaint
along with the extra 30 seconds they give you to add details. And, which, I'm always cut off with the
anger and frustration that nothing ever comes of my efforts.  I think the Do Not Call List is a JOKE...
a bureaucratic response to a P.O.'d Public!  I think maybe it's time to find out HOW MUCH $$$$$
does the Federal Trade Commission get? HOW MANY cases have they successfully prosecuted?
AND...WHY haven't we seen or heard anything to deter--at ALL--the scum that keep calling?????!!!!!!!!

Wanting to lower my interest rates. Scammers. I get these calls on a regular basis despite the fact I've got a non-published number, and have given serious consideration to dumping my landline altogether. Except NOW I'm starting to get telemarketing calls on my cell. WHY can't something be done about these companies? We have laws that state they shouldn't be calling if we're on the DNC list, but we get these calls anyway. So incredibly annoying . . .

I revived two separate calls from these jokers on 10/18/2011.
I filled a formal complaint with the Do Not Call Registry here: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

People need to use this. As started here: http://redtape.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2007/11/07 ... call-violations ...there HAVE been some successful prosecutions, INCLUDING the FTC's present pursuit of a company soliciting "lower Mortgages": Global Mortgage Funding

"Since the advent of the Do Not Call list in 2003, the FTC and the Department of Justice have brought 34 law enforcement actions against violators and collected $16 million in penalties."

Let's add these scammers to that list!

1-971-220-1966 is a SCAM.  I bet they are trying to get personal financial information.  The best route is the Federal Trade Commission to report a scam.  When people work so hard to hide their identity, they are not a legitimate business.  File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission by calling 1-877-382-4357.  They have jurisdiction over scammers and will be glad to take your complaint.  The more they get, the more likely they will take action.

We have gotten SOOOO many of these calls.  I'm really tired of their spiel--Especially since we never pay credit card interest anyway.  I, too, have tried to get them to stop calling by pressing the proper number, but have gotten nowhere.  It is so frustrating.  I wish someone with authority would get them to stop.
