I just got a call from this number and the lady said my husband's name was Darren (it's not) and that they were calling about a dodge caravan that I'd left somewhere.  I cut her off and said I have no idea what she's talking about and that's not my husbands name.  She immediately got angry and threatened to call the CEO of my company.  She then hung up on me.  Doesn't at all sound like a legit company to me, sounds like a huge scam.

They are doing the same to me...looking for my old boyfriend. Saying they will pay me $200 for info. Yeah right! We may not be together anymore, and I don't know where he is, but I'd never sell him out for a petty 200 bucks.

That's what they do. They'll call from a legitimate looking number (with area code etc) and if you don't answer, they call back from a blocked, restricted, or private number. When you do answer, tell them you are not who they want, they will call back again within 15-20 minutes, again, from blocked, restricted, or private numbers. I actually CHANGED my cell number a month ago, and somehow, they got ahold of my new number and are back at it again. That is also something I am keeping track of....everytime I pay $15 to change my number, I hold the receipts. That dollar amount will be considered reimbursable and attached to my lawsuit. If enough of us sue them all at once for enough money, we'll put em outta business and noone will ever have to deal with these a****oles again! The power of the people is stronger than the power of one.

You're right. They think we are all stupid. They keep callng me, friends, OLD neighbors looking for my ex. They have been told by me over and over I do not talk to him or seen him in almost 6 months. When she heard my current boyfriend in the background, she became very belligerent and nasty saying things like "i know thats him sitting next to you...put him on the phone NOW!" lol I was like screw you bi*** and hung up. Then she threatens me and says she knows where I work and live. I said that is fine...I am not the one you are looking for. They are so stupid threatening arrest and jail time. This is 2013, not 1913. There is no such thing as Debtor's Prison anymore. If you could still go to jail for being delinquent on bills, EVERY adult in the US would be locked up right now for one reason or another. So the last time they called, I told her if she finds him, let him know I'm looking for him too and hung up. I have now downloaded an app that allows me to record ALL phone calls because I, friends, etc have decided to file harrassment charges against them. They are 100% completely and totally in violation of every harrassment law put into place within the Fair Credit Act. For ex, if they call your neighbor, they are not allowed to tell them why they are looking for you...they are only allowed to ask about your location. They are not allowed to contact your place of employment after being told ONCE that they are not allowed to contact you, or anyone else there. I could go on and on. I could literally list each and every phone call with. The corresponding FCA law they broke during that call. I can't wait for my payday to cime in. I have already spoken to 3 different consumer rights attorneys and they all knew who these jokers are I was talking about, and all 3 confirmed I definitely have a winable case. Hmm, maybe I'LL go get a new car now too!

I called this company as they have an ad for employment in our local paper.  The receptionist was rude beyond words.  I asked some questions and she didn't want to answer me until I gave her my name (not I gave a fake name) when I asked where they are located she put me thru to a voice mail and that person sounded just as surley.  Upon reading these reviews I think I'll just looke elsewhere for employment prospects.  Unprofessional!

I just got a phone call from this woman who said she worked for a private investigator and that I needed to call her regarding a case.  I wish I had checked out the number before calling back.  Thankfully she was on another call.  I'll know to ignore future calls.  If they persist, I will file a harrassment suit.

972-226-1333 - These people engage in harassment and misrepresentation at best and illegal collections activities at worst.  Fortunately for us, we have an attorney to handle the situation they are calling about - we are "behind" on payments on ONE of our very many vehicles for a very good reason that we will eventually resolve with the auto manufacturer.  I love the professional way they get online and "respond" to the postings here with taunts and threats - but it's great for our case against them and all have been forwarded on to our attorney along with recordings of every call and message left.  FYI - they now have the "latest" technology available to them - phone number spoofing - (NOT!) so beware.  You may think you're answering a call from your spouse, family member, significant other, etc. and it's THEM on the other end.  Just hang up if you don't want to talk to them - and it's highly recommended you don't talk to them.  Any attorney that handles collections harassment cases can win against these guys - no matter how inexperienced.  That's how out of line their tactics are.  They continue to call even after being clearly told NOT to.  They call multiple times - which is harassment.  They misrepresent themselves as "investigators" - though, in our case, they stop just short of saying "with ___________ County Sheriff's Office" but they certainly imply it, which counts.  They also say things like "there is a subpoena" - there is a "theft charge" - etc.  Honestly, before you freak out about that, consider - the first time you're going to hear about a subpoena or theft charge, or pending "case against you", etc. is NOT going to be through a collection agency - or whatever they call themselves - oh, wait!  A "private investigations" firm - yeah, right!  And a very professional one, at that.

I read one "response" on here about repossessing the car you went to such lengths to hide" and it made me laugh.  They will NEVER find the car in question in our case - ever.  It is only one of multiple vehicles we have - the rest paid for.  This one would have been also if not for a problem with the vehicle that the manufacturer wanted to play hardball about.  Fortunately for us, we will probably end up owning it free and clear without making another payment thanks to these clowns.  Our attorney is enjoining the finance company and the auto manufacturer in the suit he will be filing shortly against these folks.  And he doesn't lose - ever.  He's handled many, many cases such as these.  He is based in Houston, TX and gets a LOT of practice!!

A note to DJB - learn how to conduct business legally and you might get a little further.  As another consumer above so eloquently put it - you aren't dealing with uneducated people who live hand to mouth and scare easily.  There is a whole new nation of people who have run into serious financial difficulties because of the depression and economy in the country.  You, however, for the most part, ARE that uneducated, bully tactic public you seem to think you're dealing with.  Good luck to you.  You can call our phones, spoof the numbers, call family members and friend - all of whom are aware of the what the situation is - and you're going to get nowhere.  And as far as "finding" the vehicle in question - it won't happen.  Not in this lifetime.  We don't drive it and haven't driven it in a couple of years.  It was just an extra vehicle, anyway - a tow behind our RV vehicle.  We'll win this war - but it's fun fighting it with you - you've been a less than admirable adversary.  Your harassment and barrage of phone calls on the couple of lines (of multiple) that you seem to have access to, and the "spoofing" of our phone numbers has been amusing.

Multiple people from this outfit called and left threatening messages, and when they didn't get me, they started dialing random extensions within my company. I'm back east and they got a hold of people in multiple time zones. They gave the impression they were be with some bona-fide law enforcement agency and had even claimed I was under surveillance, being sued, and at risk of criminal prosecution.

I won't belittle them for their job, or upbringing or anything else. We all need to work and put food on the table. My beef is the WAY they do their job. It's unprofessional, unethical, bording on illegal, and to be quite honest, old school in terms of tactics.

The population of debtors has changed. They aren't just calling people in poor areas with limited education that scare easy anymore. The debtor demographic has expanded upward and into the ranks of college educated people who lost 6 figure incomes in the U.S. economic massacre....A group that doesn't scare that easily.....because they know the law, their rights, and usually a couple good lawyers.

I never did have to talk to them. I worked things out with the bank a month before they finally stopped calling. I would have been more inclined to talk to them had they not come out of the box with slinging the b***s***.

I had this happen to me it all goes like this the person that use to live at your address or is living with you! They been trying to get a hold of my nephews father & I called in today to tell them I don't know him and said to them to stop call me she said okay that she will take my number off the list and she told me to pass the message down to my sister because she has the old address to were he use to stay at. I told her he no longer live there

They had the address and everthing also his new address to his new house I told them to go ahead and serve him at his work or his house. She ask me where I told her I don't know but if you have him under surveillance then go and serve him the papers even if it's at his work.

I work for a law firm I hope she stops calling my sister and me because if they do I'm going to file for harassment & also see if I can have there business license revoked good thing we have a office in Atlanta.

An Investigator by the name of Callohan or Calloway (can't quite make it out) continues to call here in Dallas for someone who works in California. They call numerous times a day. I will print out the call log and have saved the phone calls  and will be passing them on to our legal department. Our company doesn't take this type of abuse lightly. Can't wait to see the out come.

The funny thing is that once a site like this gets around the responses from obvious employees do little to persuade the future people they will be calling that this place is of a fine, upstanding value.  Personally, this is a reflection of scumbag leadership who allows their employees to do pretty much anything they want (which is why we have employees going out of their way to legitimize their actions - some very foolishly).

For all those out there who don't like the calls, be sure to ask the person calling you who the bank is that hired them.  Then go out and find the banks phone number (google) and submit an entry on this very site for the banks number and use the following:

"I will never do business with (bank or credit union name) because they hired (name of skiptracing agency) to find someone I know and I was harassed, threatened with scare tactics and had my personal identifying information (name, address and social security number) compromised in the process"

The point is to put pressure on the banks and credit unions who hire them to NEVER do business with them again as this bad publicity will surely get around to a decision maker who will read it and will definitely put some separation between their bank and this company.  Skiptracing companies like this can?t survive without banks giving them work!

If you want to chop down a tree you need to start at the base...

Here is some of the calls Dunn Johnston & Brown is being sued for:

If you get calls like this you should consider hiring an attorney, especially if they are leaving messages liek this on your phone!

Ms. Brown, this is investigator Donaldson. I need a call
from you at 1-800-972-0776, extension 259. I have a case
here and your name has come up in it, so I do need a call,
1-800-972-0776, extension 259. When you call, go ahead and
reference case number 25093.
Ms. Brown, this is investigator Donaldson. I just spoke to
you. I am quite disappointed that you were dishonest with
me. I would like you to give me a call at 1-800-972-0776,

Michelle, this is investigator Donaldson. I need a call at
1-800-972-0776, extension 259. This situation is getting
pretty ridiculous. I need you or Karl to give me a call,
so that we can get this thing taken care of. I do not want
to have to keep sending my agent out there to your house
and try to keep calling your phone. We can just get this
thing solved like it needs to be. My number again is 1-
800-972-0776, extension 259.
Ms. Brown, this is investigator Donaldson. I need you to
give me a call at 1-800-972-0776, extension 259. I do know
per our conversation that you are not being forthcoming
with me. I need you to give me a call. If you do not have
anything to do with this situation, then one phone call to
clear this up is all it needs, but I do believe that you do
have information that could get this case closed and
settled, so I need you to give me a call at 1-800-972-0776,
extension 259, I need to speak to you and I need to speak
to Karl. Thank you.
Michelle, this is investigator Donaldson. I need you and
Karl to give me a call at 1-800-572-0776, extension 259. I
do not think you understand the severity of exactly what is
going on here. You need to call me so that we can get this
thing taken care of. Avoiding us and avoiding the
situation is not making anything easier on you and Karl.
This is a serious matter. This is not something that needs
to be joked around about. We need to get this thing taken
care of. My number is 1-800-972-0776, extension 259.
