Caller ID said "unknown name" and the number was 972-253-6700.  Woman caller said she was with the Lion's Club and she asked for a money donation to pay for kids to go see a show at the theater.  When I politely asked her to remove my number from her call list, she angrily stated that she didn't have a call list and that she got my number off the computer and it was public then she hung up.  Sounds like a scam.  (The legit charity callers will politely agree to remove you from their calling list.)

My phone rang while I was on another call. All that showed on caller ID was (972) 253-6700. When I switched over to answer the call I heard nothing but a dial tone. I tired to call back and got a busy signal. So I guess my number is now on their "good" list.

How is that any different from not answering and voice mail picks up?

A poster for 1 of these numbers says they call asking for donations for a number of different charities - because they're a charity, they get around the Do Not Call list.  DON'T ANSWER - the robo-diallers then make a note that you're a "good number" & they put you on the list to keep calling back.  Save yourself the aggravation & just don't answer 972-253- (whatever).

These are all a telemarketer for charities (Plano Lions for one). Here is what they do. The robo system calls, then hangs up! If you answer then your number is flagged in their computer as a callback. Then they call, and call and call. They call at 9:01 in the morning, they call at 8:59pm. These computers are programmed to call at many different hours to see when you answer. Then they program them to call during those "answered" hours.

I hate these frigging things and I'm a programmer (I write computer programs that run payroll).

They get away with it because charities are exempt!

This number is a charity masquerading as "Plano Lion's Club". Told them to go to hell.

They call and hang up when I answer.  I called back and got weird clicking noises.

Called twice in one day, disconnect after answred. Called back numerous times and it picks up but dead air.

Get one or two calls a day from this number. they never leave a message.

We started getting calls from this number too and I tried  calling it back and it picks up and I hear clicking noises on the other end.  They call daily, usually two to three times - very strange.

Why can't the phone company cancel this annoying customer?

We are getting at least two calls a day from this number, no message and id says it is out of area, even though it is a local number

This person also called me, but my caller ID says Community Event

This person calls most every day, but today is the first time he/she has whispered. It sounded like a man but too low in tone for me to be sure.
When I called back,it was busy. The id has unknown, but the # is (972) 253-6700.

This number calls almost daily and hangs up. When I hit star 69 it answers with no voice or comes back private.

Called and disconnected once I answered.
